sooner or later, god'll cut you down.

Who: Everyone
Broadcast: Yes
Action: Lato'li's orbit and also planetside.
When: Forward dated to 11/15.

[The Interceptor Fleet moves into position, waiting for the last few shield generators to fall. And in the early hours of the 15th, they do. The shield dissolves with a blip as if it was never there, leaving the man-eaters as prone as their prey. The Interceptors send out a transmission-- an unholy mix of Cockney and Australian that graces every available communicator-- if they answer it.]

We’re firin’! Do yer worst, Vieziri! We’re gonna kick yer sorry arses so hard you’ll kiss the moons!

[Five Interceptor ships swoop out of the dark and unload their various weaponry onto the Vieziri warships. At the same time, people stranded on the planet below ready the anti-aircraft guns onto their makers. And of course there is the Fleet itself, battered and yet beautiful across the velvet sky, as they fire everything they have.

Now the Vieziri start moving. Though the big red ship can’t do much maneuvering, the rest of the Vieziri warships certainly can. They fire back at the Interceptors and whoever else fires at them, willing to defend their leader and lose their lives in the process.

Luckily, the Interceptors have their own daring ships, which may look familiar to those who were here for the raider attack. One is emblazoned with racing stripes and flames all along the hull, and it moves so fast it nearly enters hyperspace. It’s there and gone in a flash, weaving past the enemy in crazy thrillseeking loops. Still another Interceptor ship is painted red and orange with a gold plate near the front, which reads BAMF with no explanation. This one has guns aplenty and easily weathers any duel it gets into. The third Interceptor ship is beautiful gold and black, sleek as hell and engineered with sense; this one packs the most gadgets and formidable guns of all calibers, and appears to do the most damage. Trailing behind is a much smaller ship, so nondescript it almost doesn’t stand out at all-- that is, until it forms a barrier to absorb some oncoming fire and reflect it back at the Vieziri.

There’s one ship that’s missing, though-- the one that was blown up several months ago after the heist. In its place is a small black ship that runs invisible to radar, sweeping past with silent speed as it lets loose a barrage of photon missiles onto the Vieziri flagship.

Down below, the Vieziri come out in full force-- one last stand before the warlord falls, trying to finish their fell rituals. Some of them rush the encampments, some go for the cities. Near the restored comms tower, a cloaked figure with a plain white mask fights their way through the onslaught using a plasma blade and a laser rifle.

After an hours-long siege, the big warship finally takes too much fire and breaks apart, lighting up the sky with falling shards like stars. The biggest debris burns up in orbit, but little pieces still rain down. It signals the end as the Vieziri begin to retreat both on ground and in the air. The loss of their leadership leaves them scattered and panicked.

The Fleet has won the day, but as the sun rises again over the wreckage, there is still plenty of work to be done.]

[ooc: Feel free to assume the Interceptors are helping your ships! The gold and black ship can be hailed and will give responses, as she’s been the main point of contact during this plot. You can also run into Zhade, though tags will be slow for both accounting for RL things. Please mark Zhade or Interceptors in the header of your toplevel if you’d like NPC interaction.

Any questions should be asked on the plot post for phase two.]

It's tough for both sides.

[Chuuya takes a cigarette out and lights it, taking a long drag.]

No one likes to think about the other side. People are only concerned with their own side. Everyone wants something and no one wants to lose anything. Everyone just wants to live in their own way.

They weren't going about it in the right way, but they were thinking they were helping their planet. I can't blame them for that. Just their methods.

[He sighs.] I wish we could have found a better solution faster so that no one had to die.

[personal profile] mrfancyhat 2017-11-17 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
That's easy for you to say. Their methods might be all that they know. Brainwashed into it. Being trained to believe it's the only way. Being punished for fighting against said methods despite how much they don't agree with them.

I agree though. [He nods.] Something else would have been preferable to having all these losses.

[personal profile] goldenglasses 2017-11-17 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not saying it was an easy choice for them. Just that any choice that ends someone's life is the wrong solution. No matter how easy or hard that choice is.

I'm sure most of them did think they were doing the right thing. Which is why I wish we had more time to find another solution then the one that we did. In the end we made the wrong choice as well.

[Chuuya is silent for a a moment, slowly inhaling his cigarette.]

I get what you're saying, but I disagree. It's not a wrong solution.

[He suddenly felt insecure chatting with Vash about this. Why did he feel so defensive over this?]

It's because bad guys get the bad guys that I can spare thoughts for the Vieziri. Sorry you had to find out this way.

No. [It's firm and in his voice it should be clear he's had this conversation thousands and thousands of times before.]

It's wrong because no one has the right to take the life of another. As soon as they do that's a life that cannot be replaced. Everyone deserves a chance to correct their mistakes and be better. To end that chance? It will always be the wrong solution.

[He sighs and shakes his head at the suggestion.] Nothing that happened here isn't something I haven't seen before.

I'm glad you can see beyond taking the lives of others. Beyond killing, destruction, death. Truly, being able to see beyond that is something... maybe I'm a little envious of it.

[Chuuya moved to sit on his knees, slowly blowing out smoke.]

As wrong as it may be, that's all some are good for.
goldenglasses: (And that one looks like a bunny!)

[personal profile] goldenglasses 2017-11-21 12:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[As Chuuya kneels Vash will join him. Sitting down fully on the glass with his long legs spread out in front of him. He leans back slightly onto his hands so he can keep looking up to the sky.]

If you keep trying, learn from your mistakes, and keep your vision clear then you could see beyond the killing and death too.

And everyone is good at something that isn't killing. They just need to find what that thing is.

[personal profile] mrfancyhat 2017-11-23 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
[He carefully considers Vash's words, sitting silently to let the words digest.]

How does one gain a clear vision when your mind and vision have long since been tainted and painted black? There are some flowers that bloom only in darkness.

[personal profile] goldenglasses 2017-11-23 11:58 am (UTC)(link)
[Vash chuckles softly and gives Chuuya a small smile.]

Have you tired taking a shower?

[He wasn't able to help himself as he shakes his head as if he could shake the bad joke off.]

Maybe try the path that seems to have the most difficult solution. It may give you a new perspective.
mrfancyhat: (026)

[personal profile] mrfancyhat 2017-11-28 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
[He appreciates the joke, as bad as it was, even if he doesn't mention it.]

Any path is a difficult solution when you've taken comfort and settled in with what you're used to. Especially when you can't see a way out of it.
goldenglasses: Maker on LJ (Teehee! I'm going to kill you!)

[personal profile] goldenglasses 2017-11-28 11:27 am (UTC)(link)
There's always a way out. So keep looking. [A brief pause.] Or maybe someone who has that much trouble seeing another way out should hang out with someone who can see a bit more.

I know it can be done. My former partner quit in the middle of a mission. That bastard is on the side of good now, which is pretty laughable, if you knew him.

[Chuuya huffs before taking another drag of his cigarette.]

I don't know if that's for me. My ability in it's fullest form only causes major destruction, and there's nothing I can do to change that. I'm a human killing machine.
goldenglasses: (Looking for answers - finding none)

[personal profile] goldenglasses 2017-11-28 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
[Vash hums at Chuuya's response. He shifts his weight and props up his elbow onto his knee so he can comfortably rest his chin in the palm of his hand.

His muscles are relaxed. As if the two were merely discussing the weather. Eventually Vash finally addresses what Chuuya had just said.]
Yeah. My power only causes major destruction as well. [Said oh so casually.] It's rough, but there are other things we can do.
mrfancyhat: (011)

[personal profile] mrfancyhat 2017-11-29 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
[That's right. For as long as Chuuya has known Vash, he has yet to learn all that he is capable of. Perhaps part of him was content with only thinking of him as an annoying captain. Now he needed to know more.]

Can you control it? This power of yours... Do you have control over it? Is it... does using it put you at risk of killing yourself?

[Talking about this with someone outside of his world was strange, uncomfortable, yet he needed to know if someone else understood what it was like having an ability like his in it's true form.]

Can you... rely on yourself to use it without burdening another?
goldenglasses: Maker on LJ (Change my attempt good intentions)

[personal profile] goldenglasses 2017-11-29 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
[Crap. Follow up questions. Vash looks towards Chuuya as he asks his questions. Once the questions stop he moves his eyes to stare back out towards the landscape again before he answers. Outwardly his expression doesn't really change but he was hating this.]

No, I can't control it. [A long beat.] Sometimes. [It was a bit of a loaded answer. So long as there was no one controlling him he could at least keep from using his power. But once it started building up...]

I think... I think it could kill me if I don't use it properly. [It's a very unsure answer. He's seen what's happened to a Plant who has gone through a "last run" and it wasn't pretty. Then again used properly his sisters had nearly unlimited power. Nearly unlimited.]

I could probably use my power here and not lose control. [As his brother was galaxies away.] But I won't. My abilities wouldn't burden anyone, except the destruction it leaves, and I don't wish to risk losing control ever again.
mrfancyhat: (052)

[personal profile] mrfancyhat 2017-11-29 05:51 am (UTC)(link)
I see. Didn't mean to bombard you with questions, it's just...

[He puts out his cigarette nearby, and looks at Vash.]

I shouldn't be thinking about it at all. But people have had their augments mess with their powers before. Hard to say how serious it can get. If something were to set off my ability in it's true form, I'll literally die without that bastard here.

[Chuuya huffs again, far more annoyed this time.]

To think that bastard is a huge thorn on my side even when he's not around.
goldenglasses: (Why'd I have to get the hicky there?)

[personal profile] goldenglasses 2017-11-29 08:59 am (UTC)(link)
It's alright. You bring up a good point. If something ever made me glitch someone should know to stop me and stop me quickly. [Perhaps surprisingly the self proclaimed 'Hunter of Peace' will leave the how to stop him vague.]

So what does he do to keep your powers from killing you? Does he also have powers that can counteract yours?
mrfancyhat: (082)

[personal profile] mrfancyhat 2017-11-30 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
He has the ability to stop all abilities. Nullification. At least, that's how it worked back home. I can't say for sure if it would affect ability users here, since it may work differently for everyone.

[He shifts his position, bringing his knees up to lean forward on them.]

It works on skin contact with just a simple touch. So if I wanted to crush him with gravity manipulation, it would have no affect on him. Unfortunately for him I'm far stronger than he is even without using my ability, but that's beside the point.

goldenglasses: Maker on LJ (Huh? What you say?)

[personal profile] goldenglasses 2017-12-02 08:35 am (UTC)(link)
[That was going to be difficult. Vash scratches at his chin in thought.] What about a sneaky smack to the back of the head?
mrfancyhat: (033)

[personal profile] mrfancyhat 2017-12-05 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
[Vash why. Chuuya raises a brow at him.]

I mean, you're free to try, but you can't get upset if you get sucked into one of my black holes and die.
goldenglasses: (You really think so?)

[personal profile] goldenglasses 2017-12-05 11:36 am (UTC)(link)
That doesn't sound like an overly pleasant way to go. I'll think of something else in the meantime. [Said with a chuckle as if this was just the two idly discussing the weather.]
