sooner or later, god'll cut you down.

Who: Everyone
Broadcast: Yes
Action: Lato'li's orbit and also planetside.
When: Forward dated to 11/15.

[The Interceptor Fleet moves into position, waiting for the last few shield generators to fall. And in the early hours of the 15th, they do. The shield dissolves with a blip as if it was never there, leaving the man-eaters as prone as their prey. The Interceptors send out a transmission-- an unholy mix of Cockney and Australian that graces every available communicator-- if they answer it.]

We’re firin’! Do yer worst, Vieziri! We’re gonna kick yer sorry arses so hard you’ll kiss the moons!

[Five Interceptor ships swoop out of the dark and unload their various weaponry onto the Vieziri warships. At the same time, people stranded on the planet below ready the anti-aircraft guns onto their makers. And of course there is the Fleet itself, battered and yet beautiful across the velvet sky, as they fire everything they have.

Now the Vieziri start moving. Though the big red ship can’t do much maneuvering, the rest of the Vieziri warships certainly can. They fire back at the Interceptors and whoever else fires at them, willing to defend their leader and lose their lives in the process.

Luckily, the Interceptors have their own daring ships, which may look familiar to those who were here for the raider attack. One is emblazoned with racing stripes and flames all along the hull, and it moves so fast it nearly enters hyperspace. It’s there and gone in a flash, weaving past the enemy in crazy thrillseeking loops. Still another Interceptor ship is painted red and orange with a gold plate near the front, which reads BAMF with no explanation. This one has guns aplenty and easily weathers any duel it gets into. The third Interceptor ship is beautiful gold and black, sleek as hell and engineered with sense; this one packs the most gadgets and formidable guns of all calibers, and appears to do the most damage. Trailing behind is a much smaller ship, so nondescript it almost doesn’t stand out at all-- that is, until it forms a barrier to absorb some oncoming fire and reflect it back at the Vieziri.

There’s one ship that’s missing, though-- the one that was blown up several months ago after the heist. In its place is a small black ship that runs invisible to radar, sweeping past with silent speed as it lets loose a barrage of photon missiles onto the Vieziri flagship.

Down below, the Vieziri come out in full force-- one last stand before the warlord falls, trying to finish their fell rituals. Some of them rush the encampments, some go for the cities. Near the restored comms tower, a cloaked figure with a plain white mask fights their way through the onslaught using a plasma blade and a laser rifle.

After an hours-long siege, the big warship finally takes too much fire and breaks apart, lighting up the sky with falling shards like stars. The biggest debris burns up in orbit, but little pieces still rain down. It signals the end as the Vieziri begin to retreat both on ground and in the air. The loss of their leadership leaves them scattered and panicked.

The Fleet has won the day, but as the sun rises again over the wreckage, there is still plenty of work to be done.]

[ooc: Feel free to assume the Interceptors are helping your ships! The gold and black ship can be hailed and will give responses, as she’s been the main point of contact during this plot. You can also run into Zhade, though tags will be slow for both accounting for RL things. Please mark Zhade or Interceptors in the header of your toplevel if you’d like NPC interaction.

Any questions should be asked on the plot post for phase two.]

Well, of course.

[Probably. Thor has never actually tested this. He just assumes it will happen eventually. He waves a hand dismissively.]

It might just take longer than usual, that's all.

[Studying the weaponry she's assembled, Thor gets the impression she isn't the kind to come unprepared. He has to snort at her comment though.]

Yes, I heard. The rest of it isn't normal either.
brainiest: (shucks)

[personal profile] brainiest 2017-11-18 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
Well, if it's done it before...

[ Hermione doesn't have quite the same faith, but she's not about to go and tell him that. It's not really any of her business, and she's not exactly in the business of shattering people's hopes if she can avoid it. ]

You do get used to it. Is there anything I can help with, other than the weaponry?
rebuildyourruins: (I'm just saying turn the yellow down.)

[personal profile] rebuildyourruins 2017-11-18 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
[That hope will dwindle of its own accord after a few weeks. In the meantime, he'll hold out on the off-chance Mjolnir does make it light years through space.]

What do you know of these Vieziri? All I have heard so far is that they're cannibals.

[Which does tell him something, but not much about what to expect in a fight.]
brainiest: (butthole)

[personal profile] brainiest 2017-11-18 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
[ That's a question, isn't it? She breathes out a noise, frowning as she glances over at the forests. ]

They're cannibals, you're right, but they're also very fast. They know the forests better than we do and they take advantage of that. I haven't fought many of them up close, but they have talons and tend to go for the necks or gut you.
rebuildyourruins: (Someday this shall all be yours.)

[personal profile] rebuildyourruins 2017-11-18 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
[Hm. He puts a hand on his hips, looking over the dense forest that surrounds them.]

Fighting in such close surroundings isn't ideal. [Less room to swing something, and more hiding places for foes to leap out from.] Have they any weapons beyond their own claws?
brainiest: (walking valentine's card)

[personal profile] brainiest 2017-11-18 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
They have long ranged guns, as well as machetes and knives for getting up close. Their talons are weapon enough if they get near you, though.

[ Pursing her lips, she frowns, considering. ]

If you can keep them away from you it might be easier to fight them, but being in a forest makes actually doing that quite difficult. They're very fast.
rebuildyourruins: (Intrigued yet suspicious.)

[personal profile] rebuildyourruins 2017-11-18 09:00 am (UTC)(link)
[A wide range of weaponry, then. Guns don't concern Thor as much as they would a regular person, but they cause no end of trouble. Machetes and knives do too when in close quarters.]

I'll keep them well enough away, don't worry. I am used to fighting up close.

[Just usually with a weapon that he can throw around as well as strike with.]

It sounds as though the important thing is to break up the guns that can reach the ships.
brainiest: (want a grilled cheese)

[personal profile] brainiest 2017-11-19 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
Just don't underestimate them. I think there have been a few people who have made that mistake.

[ Not that she means to lecture, but - she doesn't want someone to get hurt because they weren't warned, either. ]

That's what we're hoping to do. If we can get their guns down then the rest of the fleet can come down and help us.
rebuildyourruins: (Ah. Hm.)

[personal profile] rebuildyourruins 2017-11-19 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
[He nods, though rest assured he is... probably underestimating them.]

So, not all of the ships were shot down? That's good - I assume you've been in contact with them.
brainiest: (the dog died)

[personal profile] brainiest 2017-11-19 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
Some of them. At first we had no communication at all, but we've been working on fixing that. [ She frowns, considers her thoughts. ] Not every ship was dragged down onto the planet, so if we can make the skies clear for them...
rebuildyourruins: (Maybe get your concussion checked out.)

[personal profile] rebuildyourruins 2017-11-19 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
Then it betters our chances of getting our own ships back into the air, and keeping theirs where they are.

[Amongst other things.]

I'm certain it's a goal we all share.
brainiest: (internal screaming)

[personal profile] brainiest 2017-11-19 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think anyone wants to be stuck down here. I don't think they'll have a chance to follow us back.

[ But then, ah. She shifts, moving to offer her hand. ]

Hermione Granger.
rebuildyourruins: (If I die avenge my death.)

[personal profile] rebuildyourruins 2017-11-19 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
[Right, introductions. He shakes her hand readily.]

Thor, son of Odin. You sound as though you have been here at least a while longer than I have.
brainiest: (needed to hear that)

[personal profile] brainiest 2017-11-19 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I've been here almost two years. [ Which is far shorter than how it feels. ] If you have questions I can try to help.
rebuildyourruins: (I beg your pardon.)

[personal profile] rebuildyourruins 2017-11-20 08:39 am (UTC)(link)
There seem to be too many people here who have spent years in this place.

[It's a theme he's beginning to notice.]
brainiest: (brainstorm session)

[personal profile] brainiest 2017-11-20 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
We don't really get to decide who comes or goes. We're at the mercy of the Atroma.
rebuildyourruins: (Including the curtains.)

[personal profile] rebuildyourruins 2017-11-21 08:55 am (UTC)(link)
I do not like it.

[Obvious, but worth stating.]

From their methods of capture to the devices they plant in our heads, they have too much control over those brought here.
brainiest: (this is an intervention)

[personal profile] brainiest 2017-11-21 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think any of us like it, really.

[ Some might be happy here, but being kidnapped, forced to fight and do things? It's not an unfamiliar feeling. ]

I can't imagine them not wanting control either. They've brought us here for a reason and, unfortunately for us, they want to maintain that.
rebuildyourruins: (There's doings transpiring.)

[personal profile] rebuildyourruins 2017-11-22 10:20 am (UTC)(link)
And in the meantime we are expected to defend ourselves against the natives of this planet.
brainiest: (we're not drift compatible)

[personal profile] brainiest 2017-11-23 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
That's how it works. [ She frowns, shaking her head. ] Some planets are lovely, you know, but others... They really need our help.
rebuildyourruins: (Who was the bad guy again?)

[personal profile] rebuildyourruins 2017-11-25 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
If the plan goes well, we can hope that our efforts have done that.
brainiest: (stop yelling)

[personal profile] brainiest 2017-11-25 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd like to hope that we can leave this planet in a better place than it's in now. It's the best we can hope for.
rebuildyourruins: (There's doings transpiring.)

[personal profile] rebuildyourruins 2017-11-26 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
That would be best. If the inhabitants live in fear of these Vieziri all the time, it is no way to live.

[It may not technically be their battle to fight. Asgard did not interfere in wars and conflicts beyond the Nine Realms. But Thor isn't one to let injustice stand when it's happening right in front of him.]
brainiest: (stop and stare)

[personal profile] brainiest 2017-11-26 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
No, you're absolutely right. We have to try and do something good here.

[ And she's enthused by the fact that he agrees with her. There might not be many people who would be happy to abandon the planet, but having people who are content to stand up for other people is wonderful to see. ]
