Yeah...

[Though, there was a lot behind that. Sure, his dad supported his change of mind, but it wasn't an easy or happy decision.]

I always hated the forced nature of these things... [He looked around the room.] You're okay with me seeing this stuff?

I am fine with it. You may look at others if you wish.

[It's not like he really had much to hide... now that Keith had looked seen a certain one]

[There weren't many left, honestly. Keith nodded a bit and reached over to pick up the other datapad now... the orange one.]

[The room shifts to now look like a desert like planet. A rather calm and peaceful scene of Galrans going about normal lives in what must be a harsh environment. In the midst of it is a quite clearly younger Ulaz - complete with brighter shades of purple and a longer mohawk - sitting on a rock reading from the orange electronic pad. Beside him sits the young female Galra from the photo he'd said was his sister, leaning to read over his arm. He's taller than her so it looks like she's struggling with it.

He looks up when a young male Galra practically storms up, stopping directly in front of them. Ulaz sighs]

What to do you want, Krav?

You know its not what Father wants but yet you persist in doing it. And you're corrupting our sister now too.

Reading is hardly corrupting and Mother doesn't want her underfoot. You never want nothing to do with her anymore so I'm doing it.

[The girl glances up at Krav and seeing her attention, Krav holds out his hand to her. She quite clearly jerks away to tell him to back off before resuming trying to read over Ulaz's arm]

Considering how far you've gotten in life, I'm surprised you act like an Aalok at times.

[By now they are attracting an audience and given his nature, there is no only one thing for Krav to do. He growls out what must be an Galran insult because Ulaz is already shoving the device hurriedly into his sister's hands as Krav grabs him. What follows is pretty much a knock down drag out fight between the two of them, their sister leaping up to stand on the rock behind them, clutching Ulaz's device to her. The crowd gathers more, enabling if not outright cheering it on. Finally one of the women to break through the crowd is the one that Ulaz stated to be his mother. When it looks like Ulaz might be on the losing end of the fight, their sister starts to make a move like she might try to intervene]

Nalnear.

[She stops hearing her mother's voice and the older female shakes her head, telling her not to.

Finally though, Ulaz gets the upper hand and pins Krav to the ground, both of them bruised and bloody. That seems to signify he has won since the crowd starts to break up, Ulaz still holding him down. A male Galra from the crowd turned to their mother before departing]

Untox would be proud of them, Maz.

[She just nods, but didn't answer. As soon as the crowd dispersed enough, she storms over, pushing Ulaz off Krav and grabbing Krav by the collar, not allowing him to get up from a sitting position just yet as Ulaz returns to the rock, sitting down again beside where Nalnear is standing. He makes no move for the device and she doesn't offer it]

Untox is a fool, leaving me to deal with you. He can say what he wants, but he's not here to stop you.

He wouldn't like what he's doing. He would agree with me.

You are a fool. Who do you think patches him up when he behaves like a Qivark?

Don't talk about Father like that!

You! Get back inside. I'm not done with you.

[She releases Krav and he jumps up, glaring at Ulaz once more before stomping off]

And you!

[Their mother glares at Ulaz, but aside from standing stock still in front of him for a long moment, says nothing else. She turns and heads off after Krav. As she walks away, Nalnear sits back down next to Ulaz, lacing one arm protectively around his before offering him the device back]

[It was seeing stuff like this that made Keith feel almost lucky he didn't have a big family. To an orphan who'd been an only child growing up with a single parent before being on his own, three kids was a big family. Especially because he knew none of his extended family. He put the device down.]

What happened to your sister?

[She seemed to be the only one that supported Ulaz's less 'athletic' tendencies.]

I don't know in the end. I lost track of her after joining the Blade of Marmora. I do know however that her name doesn't appear in the Galra Empire's database of soldiers, alive or deceased.

[His mother was actually far more supportive than she had come across. She had said nothing to him about it. There were things one had to do in certain situations]

So she's not a soldier, then. That could be a good thing.

[Maybe. Keith didn't know enough about Galra civilian life, only what his mom had experienced from having seen her memories while in the abyss.]

No, she's not a soldier as far as I can tell. I would say it is better than being a soldier.

She might have lived longer.

I'm sorry you never got the chance to find her.

[Keith had a feeling there was a bond there, and he did truly feel bad that Ulaz was never reunited with her.]

[~~they had a bonding moment!~~]

Thank you. It was something that I had hoped I'd be able to do.

Do you think she'll ever know what you've done?

[Keith almost felt bad that she might never know what happened to Ulaz.]

Unless someone tells her? Unlikely. I did not leave information for her and even if I did, I wouldn't know where it should go.

[Keith nodded, looking a little sad.]

I'm sorry you lost track of each other.

[Keith understood loss from his own firsthand experience. It was something that seemed to keep following him...]

In truth, I am sorry that I did not try harder to keep her in my life even despite this. It was better though, that she not be exposed and possibly a target because of me.

Yeah.

[Keith was quiet for a moment.]

Did Shiro tell you? About Sendak and Earth?

He did. At least some of it. I doubt I was told everything, since my knowing wouldn't change much.

Yeah.

So... I get it... not wanting people to figure out the connection. Sendak attacked Earth because that was where we were from. Someone using your sister against you doesn't seem like all that far of a stretch.

No, that is something I completely expected from them. Going after someone's family was practically second nature for some. So she could know nothing of what I was doing.

That, and having people know she was related to you was dangerous.

[Keith gave Ulaz a sympathetic look.]

You made a good decision to protect her.

Exactly. They are always watching so any reason to suspect that using others, including family. She already had to deal with that from my father and brother; she didn't need it from me.

It was hard, but it was for the best.
