[He smiles a little sadly at the scenery.]
Part of it, anyway. I grew up in Insomnia though - big buildings, traffic, actual grocery stores.

[It's... weird, that this is probably the most he's actually learned about Prompto even if you disregard the memory itself. He's never been one to ask many questions about other people - he'd be a hypocrite to do so, considering how little he likes to discuss his past - but it's not as if it would kill him to show some initiative. Prompto is a person of interest at this point.]

Not sure anywhere is safe anymore. [He bolsters up half a smile.] But we're going to fix it. Someday it'll be safe for everyone.

[He casts another glance around the area, brows furrowed, then after a long moment approaches Prompto and offers out the gun to him instead.]
I may have been underestimating you.
[He'd gotten the impression that the guy was all nerves and somewhat inexperienced, but he's apparently had a rough time where he's from.]

[He takes the gun, checks it over automatically, then drops it. It shatters into crystals, vanishing.]
Most people do. Not without good reason. A crash course in self defense didn't really prepare me for ... this. [He nods over his shoulder to the daemons and soldiers milling around outside the haven.]

[Messer frowns at the loss of the gun, but- alright, fair enough. If this is a dream of some sort, it's not as if weapons are all that useful. He just has to adjust to the uncomfortable feeling of being unarmed.
He exhales a soft sigh. Small talk isn't going to get him out of here.]

He gets to use crystal magic in his own head. That gun can come back just as quickly. Though the only thing that attacks him in his own head is himself.]

[Prying in a place like this just feels wrong, even if he has no choice in what he sees.
Messer steps away, approaching the rest of the camp and casting his gaze over the rest of the items. The camera catches his eye, since Prompto's always carrying it around, and since he's still instinctively trying to gather information, he picks it up to check if there's any photos to be found.]

And also, the day he convinced Noctis to wake up early just so he could take a photo of the Hammerhead garage ... for Cindy.
Cindy, who suddenly appears while Prompto in the middle of a grand proclamation. It's immediately apparent he has no idea how to talk to her, and spends most of the conversation stuttering through whatever Noctis whispers to him, up until the prince suggests they pose together for the photo. He has to wave Prompto closer when he stands several feet away from her. It's an awkward thing all around, but Prompto is stupidly happy as the scene fades.]
