[There's a resemblance, but it's not enough to confirm or deny. But before Kitty can really study it, the room shifts to another scene.

They sit in a drab room lit by harsh fluorescent lighting, the world's saddest birthday cake between them. It's a small square of cake with two candles, one for each of them, but it doesn't bring much cheer. Wanda knows it's just Strucker trying to keep them on his side and going through the motions of being nice. As if she could ever forgive him for what he'd done to her people.

But Pietro doesn't know. And he can't know, or else he'd be too angry to keep it hidden and he'd do something rash. So she says nothing.

The boy's hair was brown in the picture but it's almost white here with brown roots. "You're looking at it again," she says softly, and Pietro sets the picture down on the table so that they can both see it.

"What do you think they would say if they could see us now?"

"I don't know. I don't think they could have imagined anything like this." She lays a hand over his and squeezes it gently. "But we're still here."

He squeezes her hand back. "Happy birthday."

"Happy birthday." They move together - Wanda doesn't need her powers for this; they've always been connected - and blow out the candles.

When reality returns, Wanda's sitting up in her bed. She looks sad.]

Did you know him? Vision told me he was here once.

[passingthrough]

[Kitty looks away from the fading scene over to Wanda as she comes back into focus.] Yes. I didn't get to know him too well here, but... I also knew a version of him back home. [It's not the same and she knows that, but it's not nothing either. The Remy here isn't her Remy either, but he became family so quickly. It's a little different with Wanda because she never actually got to meet the version of her from back home.]

What happened to your parents?

They were killed.

[There's a memory here for that too, on the balcony, but Wanda wouldn't subject Kitty to that.]

Our apartment was bombed when we were 10. One minute they were there and then the next...

[passingthrough]

I'm sorry. [Three years younger than Kitty had been when her parents were murdered.] That's an impossible kind of thing to deal with. [She's still trying to figure it out all these years later. She knows their feelings and experiences are still unique, but it's hard not to relate. It was also hard to imagine Erik going that way, but if mutant powers weren't active then he was just as mortal as the next man. Maybe he always has been, but he didn't feel that way to Kitty.]

We were trapped two days. I was sure we were going to die. But someone saved us.

We had each other. I don't know what I would have done if I was alone.

[The memory is here, if Kitty goes looking for it. It's not kept in Wanda's sight, but it's definitely here.]

You would have found a way to survive. [She believes it for what it's worth. She believes Wanda is a strong person in any world.] But I'm glad you weren't alone.

[She doesn't want to look for memories exactly, but she does feel compelled to explore as they talk, looking things over. Looking with her fingertips too as they slide over the surface of things nearby her curiously.]
