'cause it's better than nothing
( for N-Z characters )
Before you post your toplevel comment, please:
1. Check the first letter of your character's name as its written in our tags. N-Z names comment here, and A-M names go to the other post.
2. Make a note in your comment if anything especially triggering or graphic might show up in the Calibration. If you're not sure if something's worth noting or not, we suggest listing it anyway, just to err on the side of caution.
3. Put your character's name (it can be shortened or different from the tag, this time) in the subject of your comment. This will help visitors find you easily, and help us update the list below.
4. Post your comment! It's fine if everyone's Calibrations end up looking and reading very different from one another. As long as you're having fun and following our guidelines, you're good to go. :)
5. If you have any questions or concerns during Calibrations, you are welcome to send them towards the mod team at any time, as always.

But until he's proven otherwise, he'll choose to hope that some survived.]
It was some parts luck, more parts hard work. I thank you though, Steve. In truth I was worried to take on the responsibility. I didn't feel I was suited to the task, but - there was no one else who could.
no subject
[He says it seriously because he means every single word. He doesn't need to see another damn thing in this room to know that Thor was the best person for Asgard then.]
It's a hard pill to swallow, but I can't think of a single person who would have been able to do more. Every life that's still out there owes you, Thor. Even with...what happened after, there's that.
no subject
What do you mean?
no subject
Nat told me. About what happened. Thanos and...how we lost that fight. Who we lost.
no subject
Here, he's not so damaged. The room itself is testament to how much of himself he's still holding on to.
Thor blows out a breath, tiredness settling in the lines of his face.]
She has had more time to come to terms with it. I only remembered a few weeks ago.
I know I should have told you. But there was so much else you did not yet know.
no subject
Thor. No, you told me what I needed to know. I don't know what I would have done, had you dropped the truth on me, then. I appreciate you holding back.
[Steve exhales hard, hating that this is something his friends must bear alone. He might know what happened but he didn't live through it. Not like Natasha and Thor.]
Do you have those memories here?
no subject
[If this room contained the sum total of Thor's fifteen-hundred year life, there wouldn't be much room to move.]
And most of that is downstairs.
[Where it's pitch black.]
no subject
He's tempted. But he knows it's not a good idea. Not right now.]
Another time. Sorry. I should share the burden with the two of you. Just...not right now.
no subject
I understand. I know that to share the burden is to lessen it, but even so... something like this is ruinous to see.
[Stepping forward, he claps a hand to Steve's shoulder.]
If you wish to speak of it though when we both wake, we can do that.
no subject
That helps.]
Over a drink. Or five. Yeah, that sounds good.
no subject
[And really, it does. Thor has his misgivings about sharing. The weight of responsibility still bows his shoulders. But some others have begun prodding him to stop taking everything on by himself, so he's trying.]
But! You need to wake up first, don't you?
no subject
Yeah. Yeah, I guess I do.
[He looks behind him for an exit, feeling somehow sure that the way out would be there. Somewhere.]
You do, too. Is there a way of getting us both up?
no subject
[It belongs to Thor, and he belongs to it. He has no intention of trying to leave. Turning on his heel, Thor heads over to the right side of the room. The portraits along this side would be more familiar to Steve - of the two, one of them features all of the Avengers together.
But that's not where Thor goes. Instead he stops in front of the small telescope that sits in front of the painting. He reaches up and unscrews the cap before plucking something off the lens.]
I can open the exit for you though, easily.
no subject
[Steve takes another look around and smiles at his friend.] It's incredible in here, Thor. I'll see you on the other side.
[Time to go.]
no subject
Thank you, Steve. I'll see you soon.
[Taking the key he just obtained from the telescope, he walks over to an expanse of wall between the portraits. Thor stops there and stabs the key into what looks like unadorned plaster. Once he turns it, a doorway appears, solid and true.
The space beyond is pure darkness, but in looking at it Steve won't feel any fear. Just the sensation of a dream coming to an end.
He's out.]
