I wanted to thank you. [He smiles at her, warm and fond.]

[The looks he gives her are going to be the death of her. Her hand runs along his arm affectionately and she really should be encouraging a little more distance between them, but that has yet to come up yet.]

[Cullen cups her face.]

It is. You take good care of me.

[She smiles back at him and reaches up to cover his hand with hers, but it's partly to pull it down. She understands what he means, that he's grateful to have someone here he can trust and care for him, but it still makes her uncomfortable.]

Sometimes I think the fleet draws anyone it can find that isn't used to a little common decency. One day maybe our audience will get tired of watching people thank me for not being horrible to them.

[He lets her do what she wants.]

Let's take your tea to your room. I promise to not thank you for the rest of my visit, if that helps.

[He's either missed the point entirely or he's trying to avoid an argument, but really it doesn't matter. She's not looking to argue either, that just happens to be a bit of a sore subject after hearing it so many times.

She is curious about whether or not he's aware of how utterly obvious he is, though. Because that was not subtle. She's reaching over to pick up tea all the same.]

[He'll make it up to her without apologizing. Jove gets a kiss to the temple before they make the short journey to her room. Once they're there, he motions her to go first.]

[Look who happens to be in a good mood.]

[She purses her lips to keep from laughing as she slips past him into the room.]

[After a moment of consideration, he sits on the edge of her bed.]

[There's no reason not to, so Jove follows to sit beside him.]

[Sitting is good. Sitting means he can lean over to cup her face with one hand, and brush his lips against hers.]

[She definitely saw that coming. She kisses him back, but it's hard to say if her pleased, very content look is because she's happy about the kiss or to hear he feels so much better.

It's probably that second one, lets be real.]

I'm happy to hear that. I hope you've been putting your extra energy into spending time with Elize as well as visiting me.

Of course. She has my attention most of the day. [When he pulls away, it's just so that he can press his forehead against hers, fingers slipping into her hair.]

I'm lucky she tends to fall asleep easily. [Because he reads boring shit.]

[What are they even going to do with you Cullen you're too sweet. Jove closes her eyes as Cullen's fingers card through her hair, letting herself relax now that it's just them and the door is closed behind her.]

It sounds to me like you may need to tell her more interesting stories.

[It's never really just them, is it? Someone is always watching. But he's decided to not care. No one will keep him from showing her appreciation.]

It's... difficult, to find ones that are appropriate.

Is there something keeping you from making up your own stories to tell her?

I like telling her the truth. [He smiles and bumps his nose against hers.]

[Which earns him a kiss on the cheek for his trouble. Rewards for being so cute? Probably.]

Telling her a story doesn't mean lying to her, Cullen. She likes stories.

[And she gets a peck on the lips.]

I think you'd find it easier than you expect. She adores you, anything you make up for her benefit will be something she'll be overjoyed to hear.

[Funny how that gets him to smile.]

[She leans away to see that smile a little better.]
