[ Actually, use of the term "skullkid" was not exactly correct for once, since she's not wearing it today. Who is this normal kid hanging around the SS Red Fish? Or hanging around the shops here.

Eh, she must be new. ]

That truly is a shame, Emblica. You don't seem to be comfortable with your crew at all.

Actually, I'm used to working alone-- it's a bit like home.

[ The slightest hint of humor creeping into her voice. ]

The fringe benefit of having a crew could be having people you could work with comfortably. [She shrugs a little.] Well, as long as you're sure you're safe, of course you should do what you wish. But you'd take care of it if they put you in danger, right?

If it gets to a point where working together is necessary, I'll consider a change. But it isn't as though I help them much, either.

We're all a bit selfish, my crew.

If it suits you to stay there, well... it's hardly my place to force you to change.

I do appreciate the concern, of course.

[ She likes Hange and Nunners too much to basically avoid spending time with them and try taking over one of the rooms so she can kind of live there. ]

Please do let me know if you ever feel truly unsafe. [She stirs the stir fry stuff around some and takes another bite. Man, she'd kind of rather Emblica was in a more supportive environment, but in spite of her youthful looks she's old enough to make her own choices - and indeed has been making them for centuries, isn't that so? Ah, well...]

[ Then again, her measure of "truly unsafe" probably doesn't match up with Hange's idea of "truly unsafe" for her. ]

Crowley seems reasonable enough. [The other one though...] But on your other hand, I think you have your work cut out for you, if you decide to take it on.

It's simple enough to keep them placated.

If they have alcohol and food, they'll either be satisfied, or they'll bother each other.

[She chuckles.] It doesn't sound like you expect much.

I'd rather avoid that disappointment.

I'm sure you can guess the answer to that.

I can... but it doesn't have to be like that here.

You're an intelligent person. You know why it isn't quite that easy.

[ It's hard to be friends with people that you know you'll outlive by centuries, or that you're worried you'll try to kill, or that you've lived centuries without and no matter what they'll never really know you. ]

Your situation is certainly different than mine... I can imagine it was difficult in many ways, living so long. But is enforcing your own loneliness really the best alternative?

There are animals who die of loneliness, but I'm not one of them.
