Sweet dreams are made of these...
( for A-M characters )
Before you post your topcomment, please:
1. Check the first letter of your character's name as its written in our tags. A-M names comment here, and N-Z names go to the other post.
2. Make a note in your topcomment if anything especially triggering or graphic might show up in the Calibration. If you're not sure if something's worth noting or not, we suggest listing it anyway, just to err on the side of caution.
3. Put your character's name (it can be shortened or different from the tag, this time) in the subject of your comment. This will help visitors find you easily, and help us update the list below.
4. Post your comment! It's fine if everyone's Calibrations end up looking and reading very different from one another. As long as you're having fun and following our guidelines, you're good to go. :)
5. If you have any questions or concerns during Calibrations, you are welcome to send them towards the mod team at any time, as always.

As she hits her chest, however, reason quickly takes over. For one thing, her body isn't swelling from the pressure and for another, she's breathing. If this were truly space, she would already be unconscious by now.
So. Another dream, another calibration. But whose?
That's when she hears Clay's voice reciting scientific facts about Earth. Turning towards him, she calls out his name, uncertain if he will respond.]

When she calls, he answers, but not in the way she might prefer. He does glance at her to acknowledge her, but that's about all she gets in terms of him actually paying attention to her.]
Earth has a powerful magnetic field that protects it from solar winds. Some scientists believe that this is a result of the nickel-iron of the core combining with the rotation of the planet itself, which is about 1,670 kilometers per hour. But, depending on your latitude, the speed can be either faster or slower. The mathematical equation behind it, if you want to see how fast the Earth is rotating in your area, is multiplying the cosine of the degree latitude by the speed of 1037.5646.
[Someone's done that equation many, many times.]

Yes, that's true-
[Before she can finish her sentence, an object comes floating by, just out of the corner of her eye. Instinctively, she reaches up to catch it. It's something small and metal. Bringing it around to see what it is, she finds that she has caught a toy airplane.]

When she's on her feet, the light fades out, and she finds herself on what looks like a runway. There's a building in the distance, a relatively large one, but it's clear that this isn't a huge, public airport. It's a beautiful day outside; the sun is high, the skies are clear, the weather is amazing... perfect for a flight.
And that's what two men who walk by her are going to do. They're both dressed to fly, one with the headphones sliding onto his head already, and the other still swinging his around in his hand. The latter, judging by the hair, is Clay, though he isn't as tall as she remembers. The fight suit hides what his build is like right now, but with the way he turns around as he grins at his companion... he looks young, barely sixteen. And he looks oh so excited, too.]
So, uh, is there anything I need to do for this? Anything I need to remember?
[The man beside him looks at him with a half grin, endeared by how Clay is apparently bouncing in his steps beside him.]
Nah. This'll be your first flight, so we're just going to get you used to what it feels like to be in the air. After that, you'll be taking off on your own in no time!

She moves to the side of the runway, hoping to get to see them in flight.]

The memory of Clay actually putting on his headphone and getting into the plane, receiving instructions of... mostly just sitting there and watching and learning, the way he felt when the engine came to life - it's all happening with Beverly away from it. But after a while, she'll see the small, two-passenger plane come around from behind the building, slowly making its way to the end of the runway. With the cockpit being dark on the outside, she can see that there are two people in there, but not enough to make out any details.
After another few minutes, the propeller on the front of the plane spins faster, and faster, the engine grows louder, and then the plane is propelling forward. At first it seems a bit slow, but it quickly picks up speed, faster and faster and faster, until it lifts off of the runway and rises into the air.]

Eventually, she hears the sound of the plane starting, so she turns to watch the take-off. A propeller plane! How delightful! As the plane takes off, it blows her hair into a disarray, but she doesn't seem to care and keeps her eye on the plane.]
