Sweet dreams are made of these...
( for A-M characters )
Before you post your topcomment, please:
1. Check the first letter of your character's name as its written in our tags. A-M names comment here, and N-Z names go to the other post.
2. Make a note in your topcomment if anything especially triggering or graphic might show up in the Calibration. If you're not sure if something's worth noting or not, we suggest listing it anyway, just to err on the side of caution.
3. Put your character's name (it can be shortened or different from the tag, this time) in the subject of your comment. This will help visitors find you easily, and help us update the list below.
4. Post your comment! It's fine if everyone's Calibrations end up looking and reading very different from one another. As long as you're having fun and following our guidelines, you're good to go. :)
5. If you have any questions or concerns during Calibrations, you are welcome to send them towards the mod team at any time, as always.

it's a space not meant for strangers.
the boy stands from his crouch, brazenly moving to place himself between the intruder and whatever is under the sheet. maybe he doesn't believe the trespasser's claim, because he only gestures more insistently--pointing at the door and shooing with his hands.]

His answer, this time, comes with a mild note of annoyance.]
I would if I could, but I'm fairly sure it's locked itself.
[He gestures at the door]

when he yanks on the handle and all it does is rattle against its own lock, he has give it a few more angry tugs before he finally begins to believe it.
then, he's left just standing there, staring at the door in growing confusion and alarm.]

As you can see, I wasn't lying. Perhaps you should consult your landlord about the state of things in here, if locks are locking themselves...
[Which is dryly ironic on purpose, given that he's fairly sure a place like this doesn't have one.
Coil's departure from the center of the room gives him an opening to head that way, however. He makes for the altar, curious. Well, if he was stuck her, he might as well.]

and the closer Felix gets to the altar, the clearer it will become that this is to honor something unholy. the deity behind this isn't of a religion that just happens to deviate from the norm; the whole point behind it is something wrong. it's a simple tribute of candles and small pieces of animal offerings, in the center of an elaborately-penned sigil, but it silently sings with corrupted energy... and the closer he gets to it, the more he can remember the chanting. it comes from the same place that a childhood lullaby might, nostalgic and melancholy, and the bones of this manor answer it.]
no subject
He's not fool enough to touch it, though his eyes scan the sigil with wary curiosity before he turns to Coil with an arched brow]
What is this for?

and it's hard to tell what Coil's expression is behind all those bandages. it would probably be a frown, if it didn't hurt to move his face that much.
he hesitates before answering. and the only answer he's really able to give is pointing at himself, insistently.
it's his.]

Obviously. But what does this [He mimes the spiral in the air with his finger] mean?
no subject
the door behind him suddenly pops open with a horrible sound, as it immediately slams into the chain lock still keeping it from opening more than a couple of inches. the little gap is enough to allow a cold breeze to come sweeping in, immediately causing a few of the candles to sputter and die-- including the ones on the altar.
the sound of arcane chanting out in the hall creeps in after the breeze, but the doused candles are apparently of more importance to Coil. the boy ignores whatever is going on beyond the door in favor of immediately hurrying over and trying to usher Felix out of the way so he can relight them.
and while he does so, he urgently points back at the door... presumably ordering Felix to close it.]
no subject
He moves aside in a slight daze before Coil's pointed gesturing gets through. He might have tried to light the candles for the boy, but closing the door seems like the most urgent thing to attend to. He's not sure what might be on the other side, but the chill elicits memories of things best left locked away.
It isn't very graceful, but he slams both hands against the door and tries to shove it closed as quickly as he can.]

don't feel obligated to reply if this is too old!
