Before you post your topcomment, please:

[Very well. The Vision nods and heads over to that corner where he stands quietly, looking curiously at Coil to see what the boy will do next.]

[so obedient! Coil appreciates it. but he only gets part of way through the next instruction of 'we need to--' before sudden banging on the door makes him jump.

a woman's sharp voice shouts through the heavy wood of the door, yelling his name, demanding that he let her in.

so, Coil temporarily abandons his guest so he can slink up to door, stand on his tiptoes, and slide a metal slat away from the peephole so he can peer out into the hall.]

[Well, that sounds unpleasant - though if she can get in, perhaps he can be let out? Since Coil isn't looking at him, he speaks in a low turn.]

If you need help, I am here.

[he glances over with some amount of veiled surprise at the offer, before his eye returns to the peephole.

while peering through, he lifts his hand to briefly and halfheartedly form the sign for 'mother.']

[Ah. Well, doesn't she just sound like the pinnacle of parenthood? He frowns, but remains in place for the time being.

Is this a memory, he wonders? Or symbolic of his current state? Having someone pounding on the door of your mind isn't a pleasant or peaceful state of being.]

[it really isn't.

and whether this is some kind of memory or not, the weary expression on the boy's face as he leans his forehead against the door says that this isn't a rare occurrence. this has happened countless times before. he just waits... and eventually, the sounds disappear.

he let's another minute go by in silence, before he finally stretches up to look through the peephole again. just to make sure she's really gone.]

[It's illustrative, that's for sure. He speaks quietly again, since Coil's still intent on the door.]

Is that why it's locked, perhaps?

[he nods, looking tired.

without looking over at the man, he signs 'everyone must stay out.']

[Ah, but how does one respect privacy if one cannot leave by normal means? Is it dangerous here? Unpleasant? Or does he simply want privacy? Admittedly, most people do want privacy in their own minds in his experience; it's why he doesn't read thoughts without express permission. Yet when there's not much of a choice, he'd better find something non-intrusive to do.]
