"So like... angels or something?"

"I fear I do not know what angels are, but if you think them similar, I would assume so."

Totally like angels.

"They're like... God's helpers. They watch over us."

Maglor considers that and then nods.

"Very like, I think. Did you meet them in your world too?"

"Oh no, I've never seen one, much less met them. I just know they're there."

"Oh?" He tips his head curiously. "How do you know? Can you sense them?"

[mistyday]

"Sorta. It's more like I get this nice feeling wash over me when I'm scared or sad or lonely than that I can feel a person, exactly." She wrinkles her nose. "It's hard to explain, but I know it to be true in my heart."

"Oh I see!" He hums. "It sounds as if you are....mm, sensitive to their presence, I 6is the best explanation. It must be a very helpful thing, in trying times."

She nods. "Sometimes I waver though and don't believe. But I always come back."

"It can be hard to hold hope." Maglor murmurs softly. "I am glad you have been able to find yours."

Finally daring to move closer, Misty sits in front of Maglor, her face full of compassion as she looks up at him. "You been hurt too." It's not a question, for she knows it must be true. "I'm sorry."

He smiles at her - a little wistful, a little sad, but mostly tired.

"Do not be - my pains are mostly my own fault."

[mistyday]

"Don't mean they don't hurt any less."

[bythewaves]

"No." He agrees quietly. "But one grows... accustomed."

[mistyday]

"Music helps, though, doesn't it?"

[bythewaves]

"A little, I suppose." He shrugs quietly. "For me, at least. I suppose it is different for everyone."

[mistyday]

"Oh it helps me a lot. Especially when it's got magic in it, like yours or Stevie's."

[bythewaves]

He smiles again at that. "Ah now, I am only a simple bard - I am glad you hear something in it, but there is no magic in what I do, only a wish for better things."

[mistyday]

"If you say so." She looks doubtful, but she won't argue neither.

"Say, what's your name anyway?"

[bythewaves]

"Ah, now I have been most rude, I see - forgive me! Maglor, at your service, lady. Might I have the pleasure of your name, as well?"

"Misty! Misty Day." She smiles. "Do you know you sound just like a prince out of a fairy tale or something? Are you?"

"Well met, Misty Day." He smiles, but it falters, briefly, at her next words.

A prince, yes - he was that once, wasn't he? A prince, a king, a captain.

Oath-sworn, Thrice-damned, Dispossessed.

Not long. Just the barest flicker, the tiniest crack in the mask.

"Not I! I am but a simple bard, nothing more than that."

If she notices the flicker, she doesn't mention it. "Oh. Well, bards are good too! Maybe even better than princes! Will you sing some more?

He chuckles lowly at that.

"I do believe this is the first time any have told me that." He says dryly.

"I can - is there anything in particular you wish to hear?"
