[ he cuts and serves the pie - the first slice breaks apart, so she gets an oops face and he gives that to himself. second attempt goes better - but it still falls apart a little bit. she gets it anyway. ]

Did not think ahead on pre-cut-and-served pie. Sorry.

Winn, it all tastes the same. I can handle broken pie. [Why are you so cute?] What kind is it?

I know, but I wanted tonight to be perfect.

[ he pouts at the broken pie. first his feelings and his memories brought the mood down, and now the pie is broken. why, world, he asks for so little! ]

It's a local berry, I can't remember the name but it's kinda reminiscent of cherry.

You're here. That's all the perfect I need. [She smiles at him and means every cheesy word of it.] Seriously, this has all been really great. [Even the memories and darker feelings. They worry her, but she feels closer to him sharing things like that.] And we can get lots of practice with dates here. It feels like there's a lot to do.

[ maybe if they say enough cheesy things - they'll get actual cheese for their pizzas.

he smiles excitedly at her second point. ]

Yeah - we could have a carnival date, a beach date, a hiking date - maybe even go totally wild and have a stay-in-bed-all-day date.

[ look for him it's wild, his work ethics are way too strong to allow him to just laze around usually. ]

[They're perfect. Hush you.]

I love all of those ideas a lot.

I bet you're right.

Mmm...pie. [She looks happy, broken bits and all.]

It feels like we're on vacation. That's kind of weird, isn't it?

Yeah and also - no. I feel the same way. Extra weird considering this is the first time in four months I've had an actual job -

[ which is so incredibly weird to him. he started working as a teenager and this has been his first break since. of course...it didn't stop him from working his butt off, just not for money, or a boss, or a single purpose.

he digs into his own pie, with an expression of pure bliss. ]

I had one on the space station, but you missed that I think. The ship was overcrowded and I'd just gotten there and our accounts were frozen anyway. So, I was a courier. They paid extra for pilot augments. I don't think that will apply to bartending or elevated construction work.

Yeah, I wasn't there. [ which is a shame because it sounds like a pretty good time was had. ]

Well, I don't get paid extra either, but I do get a lot of cheek pinches.

Yeah. I have to work on my insta-phasing when people try to touch me. Won't be great for tips. Then again, it's awesome to be able to phase here. I really recommend it.

I think my phasing's broken - I walk through walls - and then shoot right back to where I started with a fresh bruise.

Yeah, I would just keep trying. Just run right into that wall as hard as you can. [Smirking.]

I would, but my girlfriend said no more head injuries. She's such a spoilsport sometimes.

She sounds tough and demanding. How do you put up with it?

Well, she's a genius. Which is a huge turn on for me. And she's beautiful - also a turn on. And she's funny, and sweet, and amazing in bed like -- wow. And, you know, I'm completely crazy about her. Makes it real easy to concede her this one thing.

[You know what's happening right now? That sweet, funny, beautiful genius who slays in bed is blushing.] I want my other dessert before I finish this one. [Just looking very directly at him and not at the pie.]

[ oh he likes that look on her. she gets a look in return that's a strange combination of smugness, fluster, and intense desire. ]

Just so happens it's ready - [ he gets right up out of his seat and pulls her in for passionate kiss, one that conveys full well just how firmly he agrees. ]

[She's standing with her arms around him as she kisses back in a moment. It doesn't feel like those actions even occurred since they happened so immediately and fluidly, but here they are. She's also about half way to the bed with him before she's even aware they're moving. Is it her? Is it him? Is it both of them? It doesn't matter. They seem like they're on the same page here. And it only takes a little bit before she can start feeling his desire for her flooding through. It's intoxicating and he might feel the same as she is no less full of wanting and need for him.]

[ once dessert and dessert have been had, winn rests comfortably at kitty's side, enjoying the non-crowded proximity afforded to them by a proper double bed. his heart and his breath are back to normal, but his soul seems to be slower to recover. her feelings, his feelings, his mind is still reeling with how incredible they felt mixed up as they were.

finally, after a long while lying in silence trying to recover, he wraps an arm around her, and leans in to kiss her forehead. ]

Have I mentioned that I love you yet?

[She smiles warmly against him, listening to the beat of his heart and experiencing the way his feelings washed over her through all of it. She's so content and happy right now that if she were a kitty she'd be purring.]

Never. Not once. [Of course he has and of course she's teasing.] I can feel you loving me. She draws an invisible heart on his chest with her finger.]
