It hadn't even dawned on him that he'd run into other mutants up here, working or not, but Remy brings the number up to three]

Every day. [quite literally; it's work he enjoys and climbing trees is good practice] Enjoying it up here?
no subject
Gotta say, if I had known ya were up here I actually would had expected ya in a slight different shade to what ya got right now.
no subject
["different shade". He huffs out a laugh and faintly shakes his head] In this weather? No way. [it's only half a legit excuse. He shrugs a shoulder] Though it's been tempting.
no subject
And in case he did and Hank was hiding it, Remy moved to offer some of the food he had also brought along with him, made from his shift as cook at the Space Bar on the Iskaulit the previous night. It was made by a bunch of the items he had picked up from the planet as well as their normal supplies, able to make up some sort of equivalent to a pecan pie but with the local nuts, as well as what looked like fried chicken containing whatever local game there was.] Yeah, that makes sense. Would say never make ya way down South to the Big Easy then, humidity would be murder for ya come summer.

It's easier to joke about his mutation, especially with people who are familiar with it. It's still something he tends to struggle with at times, and it's obvious considering how he's sitting here, pink and not blue, but it's getting easier. The "routine" he's worked out has worked well, too]
I can imagine. It gets bad in New York sometimes, but I doubt it's anything like down there.

I can imagine, though. When we got back from - er, the other place, it was nice to be away from the snow.
no subject
Ah, well ya'll lucky ya missed out on one of the previous planet we had been to, was all snow 'nd I tell ya, gettin' here with no proper snow clothin', it wasn't fun. Luckily they took credits so could get gear sorted quick fast.
no subject
That's good, at least - ah, that they had gear available with credits. [he wrinkles his nose] I've had my fill of snow and cold for a while.

The other world. Something happened and we - well, "switched" realms, and after that it was cold all the time, and the entire realm was covered in snow.

We clearly do. That or we just have to figure out how to stop getting kidnapped.

[don't make rebuilding a jet sound like it's easy, Hank]

The thought of letting the children in on it, though . . . he makes a face] I don't think we'll be telling the children there's a jet underneath the mansion in the first place. For their safety and our sanity - at least, not at first.
[and given how often Charles doesn't go down to the labs, well . . . he isn't sure Charles even knows the pieces are there]

Depending on how things go when we reopen it, though . . . it's up to Charles on how we advertise it this time.

The one back home started as more a place for mutants to stay, most of them headed out to the local high school to study 'til we got outed 'nd the world got wind of us. It changed after that so the younger students got taught by the two oldest ones who had graduated, but the rest had to stick 'round the local high, put on a good face for mutant human relations or some merde like that. [It felt more like just putting them in the firing line than doing anything overly positive, having them face abuse thrown their way without being able to fight back.]
no subject
While mutant human relations are a good thing . . . [he pauses, then shakes his head again] There isn't a local high school near us - at least, not that I know of. The students we did have in the beginning - we found them all through Cerebro. And - I suppose I counted as one of the first, in a way. Alex, too, before he got drafted.
But now the world knows about us, too - so who knows what'll happen.
no subject
From what I understand was a bit of a mix with that 'nd those just findin' the school back home. Not sure how they did considerin' we weren't 'outed' by that point, but guess ya get those reachin' out among their own communities, word of mouth 'nd all that. [People did try and stick to those like themselves, so it didn't surprise Remy mutants would sought out other mutants.]
no subject
But - mm, word of mouth would certainly get the word out. [the thought that there were enough mutants for that to be efficient, though . . . it amazes him, a little. He knows that there's more out there in his world, but back when they first began looking, there weren't a lot at all. At least, not that Charles could find at the time.
Another reason to reconnect with the world back home, he thinks]
It sounds nice. Ah - hearing that mutants know about the school in your world, I mean.
