No, I rather think the pleasure is all mine! [ Maglor smiles back at him ]

But we had better head back, or you are going to have to tow me in.
nerdeology: by <user name=earthenring> (i do prefer chilled desserts but)

[personal profile] nerdeology 2016-07-26 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I think I could use a break, myself. After casting that many artes, I need to let my mana replenish for a while.
bythewaves: (hm?)

[personal profile] bythewaves 2016-07-26 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
We should both head back in then - but slowly, I think!
nerdeology: (thankfully your gracious seraphim)

[personal profile] nerdeology 2016-07-27 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
By all means, take your time.

[He's in no great hurry to get out, though it would probably be nice to dry off for a while.]
bythewaves: (alone)

[personal profile] bythewaves 2016-07-28 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
I will have to! [ Maglor chuckles lowly as they start back ]

I think I got too caught up and I am far tireder than I thought.
nerdeology: (i'm fine i didn't trip)

[personal profile] nerdeology 2016-07-30 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
A break is good, then. Will you be going into the town? I've heard there's nice lodging there.
bythewaves: (those good old days)

[personal profile] bythewaves 2016-07-30 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
Aye, I think so. I can easily win a bed and board with my song - I have done so before, and these folk seem the sort to accept that in trade, I think. Will you stay out, yourself, or come in?
nerdeology: (so the bones are in good condition)

[personal profile] nerdeology 2016-07-31 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
I was thinking I might stay here. The sound of the ocean is so soothing, it'd put me right to sleep in no time... and I kind of hate the idea of leaving this place just yet.

[It's love at first sight, basically.]
bythewaves: (Arnold smile)

[personal profile] bythewaves 2016-08-01 03:04 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Maglor smiles at him fondly ]

Then I think you should stay. I found much solace by the Sea in my own world - and I think it would do you good.
nerdeology: (i hope you're proud of yourself)

[personal profile] nerdeology 2016-08-03 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
I won't deny that this is something I've needed for a long time now. Since I joined the fleet, there's been something... missing, I guess. Maybe seraphim aren't meant to live outside of nature.

[It's a little hard to admit; he dislikes talking about his own weaknesses, even if it's something one could easily assume, knowing what he is. But Maglor is someone who hasn't given him any reason not to trust, and may understand to an extent.]
bythewaves: (alone)

[personal profile] bythewaves 2016-08-03 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps. [ Maglor hums sympathetically ]

Even more than the Ainur of my world, you seem very bound to your element. To be sundered from it as you are on board, must be very difficult.
nerdeology: (i don't care if you don't believe me)

[personal profile] nerdeology 2016-08-04 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
You're not wrong about that. It's said that seraphim are more than connected, they are their element- they are born from it, and when they die they return to it, so the world can give birth to another when needed. Those are just old stories, but, well... legends are often truths half-remembered.
bythewaves: (look up)

[personal profile] bythewaves 2016-08-04 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
It is always wise to listen to the old tales. [ Maglor agrees ] There are often truths that can be gleaned from them, I find, even if the particulars are not exact.

And looking at you now - I do wonder if part of why I could not see you before is that you were without access to a part of yourself.
nerdeology: (there was this sad legend)

[personal profile] nerdeology 2016-08-04 07:02 pm (UTC)(link)
...Maybe. I always believed that resonance wasn't something that could be controlled or create, but if part of it depends on us...

[It's a lot to consider, certainly, and it gives more weight to Sorey's goals of purifying the country and uniting the people with seraphim again.]

With how much the world is suffering back home, it makes sense that the majority of humans haven't seen seraphim for thousands of years.
bythewaves: (hm?)

[personal profile] bythewaves 2016-08-05 06:54 am (UTC)(link)
It might. [ Maglor hums softly ]

It is probably something of a combination of things, but it does stand to reason that if you are yourselves complete and whole, then it would be easier for others to register you as well.

Are things truly that bad, in your world?
nerdeology: ((masculinity is a social construct))

[personal profile] nerdeology 2016-08-06 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
Things are... not good, overall.

[Mikleo considers his words quietly, rolling over to float on his back, kicking idly to keep himself moving. The sunset is calming in the background, and he needs that- it's hard to think of home and the lack of progress being made with he and Sorey stuck here.]

The corruption of malevolence has spread across the world, turning countless living creatures into monsters. The land is deteriorating, plague, famine, and unnatural disasters striking without warning or explanation. The only one we think might be able to purify the malevolence is also corrupted, so before anything else happens, we need to find and purify him. But to do that... it sounds like an unbelievably difficult task. Two humans and four seraphim, challenging what is essentially the most powerful being in the world.
bythewaves: (Arnold worry)

[personal profile] bythewaves 2016-08-06 02:55 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Maglor's eyes cloud with sympathy ]

I am sorry. [ He mourns ] To hear that any world should be so afflicted is a terrible grief indeed. But do not underestimate yourself, Mikleo. In my world, also, it was the hands of the small and oft unnnoticed that did what all the Great could not, and brought down one of the Powers themselves. Courage, and a true heart. Hope, and loyalty. Small things often have great power - I think you will do better than you fear, although the cost may be high.
nerdeology: by <user name=earthenring> (he had ice cream almost every day)

[personal profile] nerdeology 2016-08-07 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
[He's not sure if that's much of a comfort- although perhaps it wasn't meant to be one, but rather a gentle reminder of reality. He knows there's a cost for everything- since leaving home, he's learned that. The cost of freedom is exposure to malevolence. The cost of exploration is danger. The cost of the power he's gained is to be tethered. The cost of loving humans is--

--well.]

If the cost is too high, it won't be worth it. I'm self-aware enough to recognize my own greed in that regard.

[If the cost of saving the world is Sorey's life, a part of him would rather watch it burn.]
bythewaves: (Arnold concern)

[personal profile] bythewaves 2016-08-07 03:56 pm (UTC)(link)
You might find that what you consider "too high" will change. [ Maglor says sadly ]

But I hope not.
nerdeology: (i don't feel unmanly or anything)

[personal profile] nerdeology 2016-08-08 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
...I guess we'll see.

[He makes no promises. But he'd rather not end up living with too many regrets to handle. The inner conflict that can create, which so often results in one becoming a hellion... that would be the worst fate.]
bythewaves: (here i stand)

[personal profile] bythewaves 2016-08-08 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
If there are any who heed one such as I, I will pray that you never have to compromise your truths.
nerdeology: (just don't get on our bad sides)

[personal profile] nerdeology 2016-08-08 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you for that.

[He doesn't know what prayer really does for someone like him - his kind are prayed to, not prayed for, and he's never been comfortable with that away - but it isn't like it could hurt anything.]
bythewaves: (hm?)

[personal profile] bythewaves 2016-08-09 02:13 pm (UTC)(link)
It is poor enough recompsense for the gift you have given me today.
nerdeology: (but i know of a few)

[personal profile] nerdeology 2016-08-10 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
I think you underestimate how a seraph values one's prayers.

[Whether he believes it's deserving or not, he knows the power of it.]
bythewaves: (weary)

[personal profile] bythewaves 2016-08-10 07:16 am (UTC)(link)
[ A wry smile ]

They said to us once that none would hear us, so I do not even know if my prayers are of use - but if they are, you are welcome to them.
