[It sure is a lovely day actually pretty much indeterminate time period out here in the vast darkness of space, isn't it? I bet everyone's enjoying themselves, getting a chance to get off their dinky little ship and stretch their legs. Even on this shitty, empty little waystation.

[ooc: hi everyone! I thought I'd give this a try and see how the game liked it. What we have here is a mass mingle post. Rather than everyone making a bunch of different posts about landing on the station, everyone is invited to post a parent comment with their character out and about, doing something. Everyone else is invited to look at who's posted, tag them, post their own parent comments, thread jack, tag around and generally have a grand old time! It should hopefully be a nice low-pressure way to do some action tagging with each other.

It's difficult when life does that. But it sounds like you're still able to see her from time to time?

[ah, and then he points to one of the dresses that kind of stands out behind the glass--ruffly and flowy, knee-length, in a light spring green color]

Man, too bad you can't realy, like... try them on.

[she smiles lightly] I used to have a dress that was that color. It wasn't as fancy... but that's lovely.

[she shrugs slightly and smiles]

This might be best though. It would be sad to become attached to a dress only to know that you can't have it.

Oh, I like trying on things anyway. Even when I know I can't buy anything.

[and then he looks back at her--glancing over her hair specifically]

This one would look really good with your hair up. Do you ever wear it like that?

[hehe, it's a good attitude to have, so she nods. And then looks curious...]

No, not often. It's a bit too thick and hurts my neck sometimes. [hmm... she looks a touch dejected] Although I may need to cut it soon anyway, perhaps then I'll wear it up more often.

Oh... [he looks more sympathetic than most boys probably would] ...How come you have to cut it?

It's... impractical. [she says this in a very practiced tone, like it's something that she's been telling herself all day]

With the hot water we're allowed, and the communal nature of the shampoo, it's impossible to wash it well. If it was shorter, I'd be able to take better care of it.

Oh... and you don't want to cut it? And you can't just, like... keep it in a braid most of the time?

[Nel you are the sweetest. She shakes her head, but looks back towards Nel and smiles]

I don't want to, but I will. I think it will be a good thing in the long run.

Man, I couldn't wait to get mine cut.

It used to be, like... [he turns around to put a hand down past the middle of his back] ...down to here or something.

Well, your hair looks very handsome as it is now! Hopefully my transition will go just as well.

[she does mean it, she feels bad for laughing at anyone. Anyway, she points at a point just a bit higher than her chin]

I was thinking something like that? Not as short as your hair, but enough to be manageable.

Oh! Wow... yeah, that's really short.

You wouldn't be able to braid it or anything.

That's true, but it doesn't often get in my face. And I-- [she rarely does physically exerting activities that require ponytails and the like. But she doesn't like drawing attention to her physical disabilities so she shrugs a little] can always find a head band of some sort if it gets to be a problem.

You don't do braids and stuff just for fun?

[blindoptimism]

Not very often. When I was little I wore my hair in pigtails, but now that I'm older I mostly wear it down.

[catamite]

I bet it would be really pretty braided.

[heh :') she fiddles with her bangs a bit, pleased but embarrassed]

Maybe. I could wear really fancy braided styles in celebration before I cut it.

While it's still long, that would actually be really helpful! I wouldn't want to take up too much of your time, but any morning when you're available and our ships are near one another...

As long as... erm, my hair isn't at its best right now. I'm sorry if it's unpleasant to touch. [she's been doing her best, but three minutes of good water and the small amount of shampoo only does so much]
