February Windrose mingle
Who: Windrose crew and the people who visit them
Broadcast: N/A
Action: Windrose
When: February
[Busy month for the Windrose. They set off a string of glitches by tinkering with found tech. They've lost another captain with Wrath's disappearance though Officer Snuggles remained behind. Misty transferred and Kitty was promoted and that's just the first half of the month. Some of these things aren't official until tomorrow's shuffle.
More importantly, who is going to turn everything pink and glittery for Valentine's Day with Wrath gone?]

Kitty | OTA
[She starts by knocking on his door, but she'll be phasing inside if he doesn't answer or tells her to go. She's worried about him. She hates that this happened. She doesn't want Wrath back in that place that was so clearly messing with her mind. She doesn't want Kurt to lose someone who he'd grown so close to. Maybe they never got to the part of admitting they were in a relationship, but they'd been together almost as long as she and Winn. She knows he cared deeply for her and she can see the progress he's making in the fleet away from all the darkness of their homeworld.]
[Moving forward]
[So many of the ships have been down to only five members, but she didn't think that would be the Windrose. It had been so full when she arrived. The whole fleet had. Apparently, she came in during a swell of numbers. Every ship was over capacity and the Blameless came to life before her eyes. But even as things started to dwindle the Windrose felt so solid. And then Vision was gone and it felt like the safety net was gone, but they went on. Then it was Wrath and even Misty, not that she begrudges her friend her happiness. It all just feels so unsteady now. She has so many friends in the fleet. She has Winn. She has Kurt. But this home of hers is less secure. So in flux. For a moment she even thought about seeing if Kurt would go with her to the Tourist, but she put the thought out of her mind again. She's the captain now. She won't abandon it so easily. Still, it's the people and not the ship that made this home, so it's hard.
She doesn't love the idea of taking the captain's room. More than thinking of Wrath there she thinks of Vision. Still, when she sleeps on the ship she stays with Winn and a larger bed sounds blissful even as much as she likes to cuddle. So after a few days she does start moving her things in, glad to see the new bedding she bought on Ikke was oversized enough to still fit.
She'll be doing more walk throughs of the ship and spending time with Officer Snuggles. She wants to get an engineer and a lab tech for the crew. She'd also like to see someone step up as first officer since she is gone so much to stay with Winn. There's her dance studio to work on off ship and plenty of other things to distract her, but she wants to make sure the Windrose is in a good position if anything ever tries to attack them again.]

the plan went wrong.
when kitty comes back into the room, winn is standing in front of her open locker. in one hand, he still holds the box of chocolates he's been holding onto since the hotel, wrapped with a red and white ribbon. in the other - he's holding something by the straps that seems to have planted him in place, something he can't seem to stop staring at. he's never actually seen one of these before, but it's pretty instantly recognizable.
when the hell did kitty get that?! ]

She's lucky she doesn't drop the glass of water she's holding when she realizes what he's holding. Oh god, that look on his face.]
Um... [Oh god, oh god, oh god.]
no subject
but the damage is done, and he seems to be stuck, anyway. he turns to face her, and that look doesn't seem to be leaving his face. ]
What - [ no, not what is this, he knows what this is, his face wouldn't be making this look if he didn't know what this is. but he just can't seem to process it, to decide what to ask first - why, where, how long, who knows, when were you gonna tell me, what was the plan here - there's so much to choose from! ]
no subject
It...It's a strap on. [Which even without the ability to read brackets she realizes probably isn't the part he wants to know. She sets the water glass down because she's feeling a little shaky with nerves. She really hopes he isn't mad or offended or just anything negative, but that isn't a positive face. She tries to keep some cool though. She doesn't want them to spiral here. There's nothing wrong with this. They are two very, very...very sexual adults who love each other.]
I thought it might be something we could try someday if we were ready and we both wanted to and we don't have to!

but now, he realizes, that wasn't the case for kitty. she thought about it enough to get herself this. and just like that the dam breaks and he sees her face - that wasn't her face - when they were done, hears the bliss in her voice - that wasn't her voice, it was deep. deeper than his - as she told him she could see music.
how much has she been thinking about this? has she been unsatisfied? he doesn't want to think that, that's a horrifying thought because if she was faking that than she is possibly the best liar he's ever met. but then why? did she get this...for him?
that thought is horrifying too and his face can't seem to decide if it wants to go red or pale. ]
Where'd you get this? When did you get this - why? [ the pitch of his voice is high, stressed. his heart is drumming in his ears and if this keeps up that headache won't stay fake for long. ] I know why - [ yeah blushing now he doesn't need her to tell him what it's used for. he's got that covered. ] I mean, why. [ is this for her or for him. and how critical is it if it's for her. ]

Back when there were games on the Marsiva. It was one of he prizes and I was curious, so I started playing toward getting it.
no subject
It's from the Atroma?
[ this just got a whole lot worse for him. it's bad enough to see his account fill up after they have particularly bold sex. but this? it's like they're directly interfering with their love lives, like they're directing them in a porn. ]

They put it in front of you. [ oh god, who knows if it's even safe, what if it's designed to get stuck or something, for maximal humiliation? ]
no subject
Look, I'm sorry, okay? We can throw it out. [She was worried it wouldn't go well and unsure if she even wanted to, thus putting it off this long, but she didn't expect him to look at it that way. She finds it disappointing and she's not sure why. Maybe just feeling foolish about it now. It's not a feeling she handles particularly well.]
no subject
his legs feel weak, so he sits on the bed, pulling her with him. ]
You really want this. [ softly. he doesn't know how to feel. he doesn't trust the atroma, he hates to give them what they want, and he doesn't even know how he feels about it regardless of them yet. kitty's feelings seem easier to figure out. then again, she had more time to work them out, and it's not her identity that's going on a roller coaster here. ]

I'm sorry you had to find it like that.

Either way, when she phases through the door he looks murderous, and the expression doesn't lessen when he recognizes her.] Get out!

Kurt. [Softer.] Don't be alone with this.

But not yet, and in the second after the fear that he's inadvertently driven away the closest (in his mind, only) friend he has left hits. When Kitty says his name something in his gut twists, and a second later loosens in a swell of relief. The rage in his expression crumples into something stark and vulnerable in the second before he turns away, his tail winding around one of his ankles.] I'm not safe to be around. [Despite his best effort, the words come out strange-soft, choked by the tightness in his throat.]
no subject
Who is? [She steps closer before slowly slipping solid arms around him from behind and resting her cheek against his shoulder blade. No one has been driven away yet. It'll take a lot more than that.]
no subject
We never promised each other anything. [He says it softly, like it will explain everything. He doesn't have more words now to explain why his hands wrap around her arms, or why he bends slightly as though wanting to wrap himself around where Kitty's arms meet.]

Wrath wasn't his wife; technically speaking, she wasn't even his girlfriend, for all that they shared their nights together. Some of their days. They made no promises to each other, and he has no right to mourn as if they did.]
no subject
The only way out is through. [Through the pain. Through the feelings. The mourning, the anguish, the guilt, the regret. All of it.]
no subject
He swallows, hard.] Do.. Do you know who got her art supplies?
