Do most people have someone from their world here? [He'd never really stopped to consider it, but he had two. At least two from his reality.]

[namisan]

I wouldn't say 'most'. [She stops to consider.] Half and half? I'm on my own, though I've seen people from my world turn up... three, four times now. They never stay long. Sam is alone, though he's had the same problem. Vash is on his own, too. [She's running through bar staff for examples.]

I'm reasonably sure others have friends here. Fenris has a whole group of people.

I'm sorry. That sounds like it could be even harder. Having people and then just losing them one day. [What if Kara or Winn was just gone? They hadn't been in his life long, but his life feels so different from what it used to be that it might as well be a lifetime.]

[namisan]

It's... exhausting, a little. But I know I'll see them again. I don't like being on my own from my crew, but at the same time I'm glad they don't have to go through this. [Heh.] My captain would go stir crazy.

[spacebro]

Your captain back home?

[namisan]

Yeah. I don't have a captain here. {She is the captain.]

Do you ever go stir crazy here? I did spend 35 years in a pod once, but I wasn't awake for most of it.

I--

[She pauses. Well, she was gonna answer that, but...wow.]

35 years?

[You do not look that old.]

[spacebro]

I was stuck in a spatial irregularity. It kind of slowed things down for me.

[namisan]

....huh. You know, oddly I've been in a few of those. But they were only days to weeks long. That's... a long time to get stuck. You were asleep for most of it?

[spacebro]

Right. It helps for long trips, which it was going to be even without the place where I got stuck. Did you run into the ones you were in with the fleet?

[namisan]

No. The place I was in last-- the landscape was unstable in time. The further you went out from the safe zones into the wastelands, the more likely you were to walk right into a section which kind of looped on itself. It was...weird.

[spacebro]

That sounds almost like being trapped in a dream.

[namisan]

It had a few aspects like that, yeah.

There were some scientists in this place who'd done some kind of experiment or trial that had spectacularly screwed up and kind of... sent cracks through the universe. A bunch of people and landmarks from different worlds fell through the cracks. There were safe zones where time and space still worked right, and then there were...others.

It wasn't quite like this place. Once we dealt with the complications, a friend was able to create a ritual from his world to send us all home.

[spacebro]

Wow. [Just trying to process all that.] You've been busy. You shouldn't have to run a bar. You should get unlimited drinks and naps.

[namisan]

[Snrk.] Believe me, what I do here is generally considered a vacation. Home has been more chaotic than any other place I've visited. It's just we don't generally have all powerful beings deciding to suddenly change the rules of the place every month.

[spacebro]

Working at a bar does seem like one of the better jobs a person could have.

[namisan]

It's entertaining, and I do like a good drink. You get to meet a good cross-section of the Fleet this way, too.

[spacebro]

I like that part too. I don't even mind doing it while sober. [He used to drink a lot more than he does now.]

[namisan]

Yeah? You much of a social drinker, then?

[Which is tactfully asking if he likes to get drunk, but eh.]

[spacebro]

Yes, and I used to be very social.

[namisan]

Huh. Seems like the two of us have that in common, then!

[spacebro]

[He raises an empty glass from where he's standing behind the bar as if to toast to that.]

It's still fun, but there are a lot of other fun things to do too. [And he doesn't need the distraction of it like he did back home.]

[namisan]

So what kind of other things do you deem fun?

[She's half curious, half making conversation. It's always good to get to know your staff, anyway.]

Well, there's dancing and garata, but so far that hasn't been a thing here or on earth. It is similar to soccer, but you need dragons for it. But I like trying different sports.
