The fire nation. She remembers Sokka talking about it, the atrocities they committed. But seeing it makes it all so much clearer, more real. "Maker's breath... They just attacked? For what reason?"

[The memory gives no clue on that, but at least it explains why there's a big l hole in the ice wall, right? ]

[Hmm. A question to ask Sokka later. For now, she finally makes her way over to that glowing iceberg. It's pretty, in a rather eerie way. She reaches out to it, though her fingers curl at the cold.]

The memory starts with the iceberg. The iceberg, you and a young girl. The iceberg glows, and suddenly a boy with arrows on his head and arms emerges. You don't trust him, you don't like him. Something is dangerous about him and you absolutely know he'll be dangerous for the girl.

The memory switches, swirls, memories flicker too fast to keep track. The arrow boy keeps appearing, laughing, crying, having quiet moments of solace. The feelings grow from distrust to mild annoyance, to eventually a strong bond, something you could only call family. The memory switches once more, and sticks.

You are sitting on a hill, a wolf-helm in your hands, staring out at a fleet of wooden ships. A feeling of unworthiness festers in your stomach like a lead weight. The boy with the arrow on his head lands beside you from his air glider.

"We've been looking everywhere for you," he says. "The boats are ready to leave."

"I...messed up, Aang," you say.

"...What?" Aang responds, confused.

"The invasion plan was my moment of truth," you look at the helm, frowning. "And I completely flubbed it. I just...fell apart."

"Sokka," Aang puts a hand on your shoulder. "That speech wasn't your moment of truth. That was just public speaking, and nobody's really good at that."

"My dad is!" you respond. "He explained the plan perfectly and inspired everyone. Like a real leader should."

"Look," Aang drops his hand, staring out at the sea with you. "Your moment of truth isn't gonna be in front of some map. It's gonna be out there, on the battlefield. "

"You seem so confident about everything," you say, turning to him. "How do you know we're gonna win?"

"Because I already failed the world once at Ba Sing Se," he replies. "I won't let myself fail again."

And with that, the memory flickers and fades out.

[So that was Aang. Riona's glad to have finally gotten to see him, even if only through Sokka's eyes. But she's felt like she's pried enough, at least here, and meanders back up to Sokka.]

I'm glad you have such a good friend in Aang.

[Sokka smiles at her return. ]

Oh yeah, I'm lucky to know him. I mean, sure he's a pain like sixty, seventy per cent of the time, but he's still a good guy. We wouldn't be where we are without him.

Plus he kinda marries Katara in the future so I'm pretty much stuck with him.

[She laughs a little.]

Now you're doomed. You'll have to put up with him at dinners and family get togethers.

Don't get me started, they're bad enough already- making eyes at each other all the time and giving me the oogies. It's gross, painfully, horribly gross.

Oh no. Anything but the oogies! [Riona snickers. Oogies. She'll have to remember that one for future use.] Although, don't you have someone special, too? No oogies between the two of you?

Oogies are the worst.

[It's the BEST term ever, okay. ]

Me and Suki are different. We're way less obnoxious about it.

Hmmm. Are you now? It's a shame Katara nor Aang are here to verify that. Something tells me they may have a slightly different opinion on the matter.

Riona glances towards the other side, her lips quirking to the side.]

I still don't see a way out.

Oh.

[He frowns, looking around. ]

Um. I'm not sure where it is, either.

Maybe in the city? [She sure as hell didn't see one in the village.] I'll go down and take a look.

Okay and-

[He realised, after everything, there is something he wants her to see. ]

I mean, there is one place you might wanna check out. It- uh, it's not a fun memory but it might help you, I dunno? [Help her with her own losses, he doesn't know. ] It's a pool. In the village.

[bryces_pup]

[She pauses and turns back to him. A pool? Was there one? She must have missed it, focused on something else.]

Sure.

[At least this feels less like an intrusion, since he's offering it to her. She walks back down to the village, searching for the mentioned pool. When she finds what she thinks must be it, she approaches, touching the water line with the edge of her boot.]
