[The parties may have ended in most of the system, but at least in one corner, as the silver confetti and plastic cups are being swept up, it continues. This time it's not in celebration of the games but something - or someone - a little more personal to some of the members of the fleet. After all, Felix had promised, in a way.

A brief text message will be sent out the fleet]

There will be a celebration this evening in memory of our friend Lumiere, who has since departed the fleet. Regardless of whether you knew him, come enjoy yourself as I'm sure he would have wanted.

[The coordinates that follow lead to a small lounge-like venue near the beach in the Brightbirds territory. The main room is bright and cozy, hosting the featured entertainment for the night, orange-skinned men and women dancers in flowing, feathered, revealing garments who make sinuous circles around the room. Musicians with guitar-like instruments and drums play throughout the night, to accompany the dancers.

On the patio there is a buffet full of small finger foods like skewers of meat and candied fruits and various other decadently simple dishes. The bar is also nearby - though the drinks aren't free, they are available at a discount for the evening.

If you want a little more quiet, the patio leads directly out onto the beach, which is also set with small cushions and tables for you to enjoy your food and drink while you listen to the waves and the distant city lights reflected in the water]

I mostly had people tell me what an idiot I was and not actually show up. Let's see, who did show up besides you in the end?

Well, Nami showed up purely for the free food. OH! A couple a girls who weren't here for very long Michiru and Haruka. Someone actually showed up who I never actually got the name of in the end.

[Then suddenly Vash's nose wrinkles in disgust at the memory.] And Bigby. [The one guy who actually showed up to utterly troll him.]

Pretty sure Michiru and Haruka are lesbians who were dating each other. [She's actually not sure about the ones in Drift. She doesn't remember running into them here, but she knew them in Marina.] Nameless girl was probably your best bet. [Teases the girl who is on a date with him now.] I bet Bigby can eat a lot.

Yeah, I kind of got that feeling. Pretty sure they just took my offer up to get a free date night for themselves.

Yeah, nameless probably was. I did so well I didn't even get a name. [Vash pops a small hotdog into his mouth and gestures to their still mostly full plates.] I doubt this would have even counted as a starter for him.

The great romance of the ages. I think the lack of name really fuels the mystery and intrigue of it all. I'm rooting for you two. [She gives him a teasing smile.]

[Vash laughs at what she says.] Well, I hate to disappoint, but she's not in the fleet anymore. So you're putting money on the wrong thom-- ah, I mean horse!

Thom...? [Just looking at him curiously.]

A thomas. They're a big pack animal we used like horses where I'm from. People use to bet on them like horses too. Don't know who came up with the name thomas or why it stuck.

It does seem a little random, but that can be fun. Were they already native to the planet you landed on?

Yeah. They were. For an animal living in the desert covered in fur they were hardy things. Ran on two legs and kind of hand a face a bit like an ant eater.

I never got very good at riding them. Everyone liked to kick me or buck me off.

They sound rude. Definitely don't want to bet on any Thomas'. I guess I'll just have to give up on the idea of you in an epic romance with mystery girl. [She smiles at him.]

Well, I don't know about that. [He grins and wraps an arm gently around her shoulders.] You never know. Maybe I am seeing a mystery girl and it would be the last person you expect!

[She scoots closer.] Oh yeah? Is she cute?

Super cute. She's got this smile that when she looks at you with it-- Ooooh! [He lets out a long whistle.] It could knock the wind out of a guy!

[She smiles despite herself.] Sounds impressive. I bet she's not that bright though, right?

[He gasps as if he has just lost his breath before answering.] Are you kidding? She's a captain of her very own ship! She's super smart!

Ooooh, I get it. You're into Nami. And you thought I wouldn't guess! [Looking amused.]

Oh no! You found out my secret! Don't let her know! Otherwise she will not only own my soul as an employee, but my heart as well!

[He smacks the back of his hand to his forehead as he cries out in agony. Oh the drama!]

Well, she is a pirate. She probably already stole it and you don't even know.

Oh... my... You're right!!!! How could I let that happen! I didn't even notice!

Weeeeeeeell, I do have pretty great thief-aligned powers. It always seemed like I was letting them go to waste. [She's amused but also there's something she's not quite acknowledging that feels awkward because they're talking about his heart and that's kind of what this is about? It's about moving on and being open to new possibilities and honestly if she just wanted sex there were probably easier ways to get it, but she's still smiling. Still working through it.]

Oh my God you do! [He clearly hadn't considered this before and his mind is now blown.]

[It's easier to get over herself when he's getting into the banter like he does.] I am reasonably young. Maybe I should turn my life around and follow this new calling.

If you're turning your life around to do crime... isn't that usually the opposite of what turning a life around means?

No, I think it just has to be a drastic change. Turning to the dark side is a valid life choice.

The dark side? Living life in the shadows. Living off the credits you stole and running for "the man"? Yeah, I can see that being the dark side!
