[Welcome to the parlor. Or at least, it would be the parlor if it was back in his home. Either of the ones before. For now, it's just Undertaker's modest little abode on the good ship Goldstone, not too unlike many of yours who stand witness to it now. Maybe he'll add to it over time. He has heard audiences like to get to know people, and what better way to do so than to personalize?]

[Alas. Without much means to add such customizations (yet) you get only to see his smiling face, complete with the scar crossing right over it. How's that for unique?]

We're a lively bunch here, aren't we? Starting things off with a bang, visiting people in their past lives with or without them knowing. Just like the good old days, back in the academy. [There's a giggle, one which might or might not put a shudder down spines. He's an... unusual git and he knows it, complete with the mortician's facade and, some might recognize, the overly cockney accent.]

Ah, we're going to get along just fine, I think. Too bad they've not made use of the smarts I was given, [He flicks a hand.] lab support or something other, bandages I suppose. Wouldn't be much use to me anyway, but you'll find me on the Goldstone, should you have need of my assistance. Look for Undertaker.

Oh, it has. It all sounds like field medicine to me, but it is what it is.

[Comfortably settled, legs crossed, on Undertaker's bed, Ciel just watches quietly for a moment. At least until he's done, quieting when he's talking with anyone else in the fleet or his crewmates.]

Why the accent, again? [Just a curious little question.]

I never really thought about that... Reapers really have an academy? Watching Grell, I suppose I always assume you all just got a kind of... quick lesson before being thrown back out in the world.

[He leans back against the chair he is sitting in once things are said and done, watching the teen on his bed without actually seeing him in detail.]

It's not truly an accent, just a bit of emphasis on who I want them to see. I've been in that role for so long, it was easier to fall back on.

[He kicks a heel over one knee.] They have far more than just an academy. It's an entire business. The academy is just their training and mentoring department. The afterlife is full of just as much mess as there is on earth, believe me.

[A soft, thoughtful, little hum.]

It just seems strange to hear you talk like that again after the past year and the Campania. Is that something you started in grandmothers time or while father was Watch Dog?

He does remember something about that, kind of, from Ronald.]

I remember something about overtime? I hadn't been paying too much attention, it was just after that first doll woke up on the Campania. I ran after Ryan, but that one reaper mentioned it to Sebastian.

You'd think the afterlife would be more... relaxed, I suppose.

[He lifts a hand to tap at his chin with a long fingernail.]

Mm, do you think I should drop it entirely? I've had it since I started my business as a mortician. No one knew me then and I thought I'd give myself a fresh new start.

[He adores that. This twin, always so curious. He supposes the boy would have to be, growing up as he did.]

Oh, it is if you end up like I did. There's more to the afterlife than becoming a grim reaper, but I've never actually seen what happens if you die as you were meant and see the other side of the bridge, as it were. [And at this rate, he never will. Ciel, on the other hand...]

Not if you don't want to. It just seems strange for me, hearing it again, but I don't mind it.

[Always the curious one. If nothing had happened on their birthday, it would probably have been the easiest way of telling them apart over the following couple years.]

Really? [New information.] I guess that makes sense. Not every soul you collect could be a reaper so there must be something you do with them. [He's not so sure about that.]

[That's an unusual look - and a rough, demanding voice. Is is a mask or does this creature really have an alien skull for a face? The reptilian golden eyes that peer through the mask do not look very pleased. For now he's on screen but since they're on the same ship they could end up running into each other at some point soon.]

[Tone hardly concerns him. He can be on any ship at any time, save the mothership, but he's a curious one. He'll bide his time and wait it out and see.]

Indeed, I am. That was what they gave me to use, and I do intend to use it if I need to. Why?

What particular skills do you possess?

[Clearly he's not human and so may be wondering if other health emergencies can be dealt with besides the obvious.]

[Oddly enough, he seems to know a little about how to handle creatures who are non-human as well now. It's a strange time that he lives in. So he'll rattle off a few of those particulars, some in detail just to see if the... man? woman? thing? flinches or if it's genuinely curious. He doesn't expect much, seeing as he's head of security, and Undertaker might be able to assume he's Seen Some Things.]

All in all, I know my way around a scalpel, wouldn't you agree?

[There's a slight head tilt as he listens but no discernible emotions one way or another. Clearly, he's not bothered by much.]

Not all surgery is done with a scalpel.

I've mostly been trying to teach myself how to use the equipment as it's different from my own worlds and also testing the properties and uses of the plants that are growing in the greenhouse upon the Iskaulit.

Do you have another name beyond Undertaker that you like to be called?

So long as you designate an area for that and don't take over the places I need the most, I can't see why you wouldn't be able to share the space. Just remember to clean up after yourself and quarantine what you're unsure of.

[Oh, another name? Hmm.] I did, a long time ago. You might call me by a number if you don't like Undertaker, but the title might be easier.
