[He tries to catch it before it can hit him in the face, but no that definitely hits him smackdab in the face and he's down with a loud oof! after being knocked completely off-balance. If you'll excuse him, he'll be rolling side-to-side on the ground while he holds his nose for a few minutes. Jesus Christ, is he bleeding? He's pretty sure he's bleeding.]

[He rolls over onto his stomach and pushes up onto his hands and knees, although he's using one hand now to pinch his nose.]

[ Well, she kind of expected him to catch it, but ... ]

[Joseph mutters a "bullshit" under his breath as he turns and just sits. If that was the case, she'd definitely apologize or check to see how bad it was. If she weren't a woman...]

[Joseph just glowers at her for a moment before he points to the ball, which managed to bounce a fairly good distance away after hitting him in the face.]

Go bring that back to the others then.

[ She folds her arms across her chest ]

Why, so you can look at my ass while I walk past you?

[He looks downright offended at the accusation, if only because that wasn't on his mind. ...Actually he would be offended either way, but it'd be a little more indignant and come coupled with a snipe about having better things to look at to compensate if his intentions were less than pure.]

So they [he jabs a thumb over his shoulder] aren't waiting on me to keep playing.

[ ... Hmm. Now she feels a little bad, because he's trying to be nice to the other people ...

So, she'll scoot over to grab the ball and toss it back to them, before coming back and rummaging through her bag.

... Offers him a hanky with a very begrudging sigh. ]

[He only looks up at her briefly when she offers him the hanky. He almost doesn't take it (not out of spite, but just so he's not bleeding all over her stuff), but he sees it as a peace offering. So, for that reason alone, he accepts it.]

Thanks. [Once he's had a chance to dab at some of the blood on his upper lip and he's back to putting pressure on his nose.] You know, you should play. You throw that hard, I'd imagine your spikes would scare the shit out of the opposing team.

[ After all that, and he still wants her to play ...

[Well, it's not purely selfless. He'd also like to win, too, and with an arm like that? But no, he also wouldn't want to be rude and exclude her even if she was just trying really hard to break his nose.]

It's not that hard. I picked it up fast, I'm sure you could, too.

[And without her even really asking, he'll explain anyway.]

There's really only three rules here. [He holds up a finger for each as he gets to them.] Don't hit the ball twice unless you're blocking, don't let the ball hit the ground when it's on your side, and don't let it go out of bounds when you're sending it back.

[He lowers his hand again.]

If you screw up, the other team gets a point. If they screw up, your team gets it. There are a couple of other ways beside that to score a point, like if the other team screws up the serve, but those are the basics.

Hmm ... seems simple enough.

[ And she does like winning. ]

I guess I could give it a shot ...

[Actual fistpump of victory. Aw yeah, the other team is going to get slaughtered, but um.]

Just no aiming for anyone's face, [he says, pointing to his own with his free hand.] Otherwise, someone is gonna end up in whatever hospital-like thing they've got around here and neither one of us is going to get invited to play again.

[ She has a smug grin on her face. ]

I'm a healer, so it shouldn't be a problem.

[For a moment, it doesn't seem like Joseph is connecting the dots on her implication as he somewhat gives her a blank stare. Really, he just can't believe Ino is suggesting what she's suggesting. It seems far more like something he'd suggest given when he knows of her personality so far.]

[Then he hops to his feet with a smirk, snickering.]

Oh, Ino, I would have never guessed such a devious mind was behind that sweet face of yours, but I do like the way you think.

[HE IS NOT HITTING ON YOU THO. PLEASE DO NOT HIT HIM.]

[ She puts a hand to her heart. ]

Devious? Me? I'm just offering to fix any accidents I might cause learning how to play.

[And not just because of her hot bod. Which he is not gonna check out again (at least not so obviously) because he likes his face the way it is and doesn't need her to rearrange it for him.]

[Speaking of which, he checks to be sure he's done bleeding and it seems like it's stopped. He'll be pocketing the hanky though instead of giving it back. He'll return it to her later after it's been cleaned and not covered in splotches of his blood.]

[He holds up both hands and even takes a half-step back.]
