Who: A ~mysterious anonymous poster~ and you
Broadcast: Anonymous text
Action: In her room on the Bishop, if you really want to say hello
When:
[It's taken Nightingale a while to figure out how to make the anonymous text function work, and even longer to decide it's worthwhile to post. Still, she doesn't have anything else to do, and this has been eating at her for a while...]
I realized recently it's been over a year since I was last home.
Over a year since I've ever seen anyone from my world, even.
And that year has been kind of a mess.
Now I'm two crazy worlds removed from home, and it's not looking like I'll get to go back anytime soon.
It's just now really starting to sink in.
I'm starting to get homesick, I guess.
But I know there's a bunch of people here who have been here even longer than I have.
Or have a lot more pressing things to get back to.
So... How do you cope?
How can you deal with this for so long?
After this long, my usual distractions aren't really working so well anymore.

It doesn't solve anything, makes you feel worse
Go and talk to people you like
Go and pick a fight with people you don't like
Treat it like an extended vacation from home
You'll go back eventually
no subject
What about the people back there?
no subject
I don't mean to be callous
I miss my friends terribly
But time doesn't pass at home while you're here
Nothing changes
Remember them fondly that's it
Or unfondly as the case may be

[Sometimes, he feels homesick, but it's more for his own kind than it is for Equestria itself. Equestria's a pretty shitty place what with the near-constant border attacks and whatnot. At least there isn't some horrific monster trying to destroy his world's existence ever other month here. ]
I travel a whole lot. When we hit new planets? I just pack light and travel the planet for a while, meet new people, learn new things. That helps a lot.

It's comforting to know I'm not alone there.
I did a lot of visiting weird places at home, though.
It was sort of my hobby.
It makes it a little harder to enjoy that here, in this kind of a mood.

Hmmm, you got a point.
Maybe try to do some things with your crew? I mean, if you got a good one, you can get a real sense of family there. It makes everything a little more bearable, having people around you can feel comfortable with.
...
And yeah, I know the deal with places like this. That they could vanish in a second, but that's why you gotta make the most of it while you can.

I cope by doing what I always do. I keep walking. I try to live my life as if the present matters as much as my time back home.
no subject
That's a good way to go about it, at least.
But it's not so easy to convince myself that.
no subject
I know...it takes some time to be able to.

Either I can distract myself and keep going on here.
Or think about how my friends back home likely won't even recognize me anymore once I do return and be paralyzed with loneliness and homesickness.
Distraction sounds good.

[Prayers, Qur'anic recitation, even brewing tea like his mom used to... those little bits keep him going.]
The Fleet's given us some pretty cool experiences, so I focus on the people I've met and the stories I've heard. Until we go home, wherever that may be, we're kind of all we've got.

And go figure, the charger didn't come too.
... I guess that's true, though.
But it's hard to think that way when people leave all the time, here.

I understand what it's like to not have a 'normal' life, too.
And talking to other people does help, but...
At the same time, it drives home just how alien I am to all of this.
