/rolls in here forever late
One of Kirk's favorite places is the gym on the ship. Working out was a critical part of his life over the past year, and the habits were sticking. If he wasn't running, he worked on his self-defense movements. He happily welcomed anyone who wanted to join him, liking sparring partners or even the act of teaching. He found it surprisingly calming, but then he had enjoyed it back in the Academy.
Come feel the burn!

As per his usual, Kirk tends to be up late, or up very early depending on how you look at it. He tends to sit in the kitchen or on the viewing deck and watch the stars, usually with a cup of coffee or cocoa or tea in hand - whatever he can make. Sometimes he has breakfast foods (he especially likes pancakes). Either way, he's practically the haunt of the ship, but hopefully he's not interrupting your night.

Wildcard!
B
Fancy meeting you here.
B
I kind of thought you'd be a nightgown girl, honestly.

No, not very much, but seeing you in PJs reminded me of the one time I thought about it. When when I think about it is when we were naming constellations outside of that station one night.

Everything-? Oh, you mean about you being an alien?

Hah, remember, where I'm from - it is a little thing. But I'm glad you told me.
You haven't broken anything else, have you?
[ Teasing, teasing! ]

winn staggers over to the kitchen in the middle of the night, mumbling incoherently to himself. if he listens closely, kirk may hear curious statements such as 'carry the one' and 'find the constant'.
he makes himself a coffee without so much as acknowledging kirk's presence. don't take it personally, though, the reason for it is that he simply hasn't noticed him. that's rectified, however, when he turns with his cup in hand and jumps when his eyes fall on kirk, spilling drops of coffee on his hand. ] Jesus, man, make a sound - [ he wipes his hand on his pants, before realizing that's probably not the smartest thing he could've done here.
putting his cup down, he goes to wash his hand. ]
Can't sleep?

Kirk just sips his coffee and watches Winn for a moment, cocking his head at the muttering and wondering what he's so intent on. He himself is being quiet and not making an effort to announce himself as he drinks. The jump makes him smirk a little around the lip of his mug, licking his lips when it pulls away. ]
Not really. But that's par for the course for me. What about you? I usually don't see you up this early.
no subject
Just - working on some stuff.
[ he usually can't rip himself away long enough to drag himself for fuel, but after the dresses it kind of became necessary. too many sleepless nights, he's getting tired. ]
no subject
"Some stuff"?
[ He raised a brow at him, clearly not buying that. ]
It must be important to have you doing math while you make your coffee.
no subject
That's actually - just me.
[ he wishes he were kidding. but if he's on his own and it's not math - it's some other nerdy thing. here he seems to favor brain-breakingly-theoretical-physics.
but yes, it's important. ]
no subject
Do you want some help? I could use a project myself - been awhile since I've gotten my hands dirty. Last time was the space station we visited.
no subject
Sure, what kind of hand-dirtying are you into?
[ he has a lot of projects, he can pick one that suits kirk. it'd be nice to hang out with a guy, without worrying that he's giving his girlfriend irrational yet highly understandable terrible feelings in the process. ]
no subject
I actually focused on engineering in college, but I'm good with computers too. I like building, I suppose you could say, with a touch of programming.
[ It was how he had beaten the Kobayashi Maru, after all. ]

And so, he'll be wandering in, greatsword resting across his shoulder. There you are. ]
Well. I am here.
Re: A
[ He'll take it. He has a feeling moving past that particular feeling will require a celebration when it happens. The kind that involves informing a yellow talking pony that a celebration is in fact needed and just let him go wild. The great sword catches him by surprise and he blinks at it for a second, but recovers quickly and smiles at Fenris. ]
So you are. And armed. I like a man who comes prepared.
no subject
Ah yes. I was fortunate enough to procure this from a planet we visited. If you would prefer to spar with something else, though, I can change.
no subject
[ The celebration would not be for you, Fenris, gosh. ]
Ah, I was thinking more hand-to-hand combat, actually. I only just started looking into fencing back home and that is... well, that is a fair bit larger than a fencing foil.
no subject
You have a point. I'm sure you'd rather not lose a limb. It would be unfortunate.
no subject
I like keeping everything in its place, yes. I went through rehab once already, I don't want to go through it again quite so soon.
You need any tape for your hands before we start?
no subject
From what I understand, it is deeply unpleasant.
[He'll shake his head, looking down at his hands, the lyrium lines going down each finger.]
No, I do not need such protection. The lyrium sees to that.
no subject
Rehab or losing a limb? Both are different amounts of unpleasant.
[ He nodded to that, checking his own tape before going to drag another mat or two into place and pushing some other equipment out of the way. ]
Want to say a hard hour, then we can take a breather and I'll live up to my end and show you how to use some of our guns?
