this? is lightyears better.it's he-can't-quite-believe-this-is-happening levels of better.
he kisses kitty, hand tangled in her hair, the reminder that occasionally pops up in his head that this is actually kara's office and not his own private space the only thing that stays it there. his other, on the other hand, seems to have missed that memo. ]

Hank shoots off a quick message to Kara as he steps onto the Tourist, letting her know he's there to visit. And then he . . . waits.
Because as tempting as it is to just look around, since this is first time on one of the older ships in the fleet, he knows better than to go wandering off by himself. And it'd really suck if he accidentally scared someone, which - well, that's always a worry]

Hank! I'm so glad you made it over! We can do a quick tour, but luckily, my office is pretty much on the way to checking out the other parts of the ship, and I want you to meet Winn anyway. He's in there working on costumes for the masquerade they're hosting down on the moon?
Anyway, it's right over here. Not totally sure why he closed the door but it was probably just to get some peace and quiet. You know how the creative types are. Anyway!
[ let's just open this here door right here and step in ]
Hey, Winn, are you in the middle of—
[ oh. oh god. oh no ]
no subject
And then she opens the door. And that. Yes. Oh god.
Hank makes a faint, choked noise and immediately spins around, stumbling a bit but certainly NOT LOOKING and oh look the way they came is very nice and full of things that aren't people making out]

Kitchen or my room? Which do you think you'll be more comfortable in?
no subject
Are you implying I've never been in a girl's bedroom before?
[he's comfortable enough to be cracking jokes, there's your answer] Either is fine with me.
no subject
[ she thinks about it for a moment ]
Okay, well, kitchen first because I want a snack, and then we can hang out in my room.
no subject
[but he grins at what she says and nods] That works.

he abandons the costume he's been working on, and sneaks away to his own room, avoiding the eyes of anyone who may pass him by in the halls. when he makes it there, he shuts the door, collapses on his bed, and finally lets the shuddering sobs he's not really sure how he managed to hold in - out.
life isn't fair, and he knows it, he knows it all too well, but there has to be a line, there has to be some end to it, right? ]
no subject
Winn? It's Kara.
[ she can't help the concern creeping into her voice ]
no subject
sniffling, he roughly wipes his eyes (a moot gesture, the tears won't stop coming), and clears his throat. ]
Is it urgent?
no subject
[ maybe not the best response, but she pretty much figures she's getting in the room one way or another. Just, preferably with his permission. She is all about consent. ]
no subject
Then not really. [ it's a long shot, pushing her away hasn't really worked for him in the past - and don't get him wrong, he's incredibly grateful for it - but he feels like he has to at least try. the pain he's feeling is nothing compared to what kitty's had to go through, what kara's had to go through. he has no right to burden either one of them with it. ]

/rolls in here forever late
One of Kirk's favorite places is the gym on the ship. Working out was a critical part of his life over the past year, and the habits were sticking. If he wasn't running, he worked on his self-defense movements. He happily welcomed anyone who wanted to join him, liking sparring partners or even the act of teaching. He found it surprisingly calming, but then he had enjoyed it back in the Academy.
Come feel the burn!
B
As per his usual, Kirk tends to be up late, or up very early depending on how you look at it. He tends to sit in the kitchen or on the viewing deck and watch the stars, usually with a cup of coffee or cocoa or tea in hand - whatever he can make. Sometimes he has breakfast foods (he especially likes pancakes). Either way, he's practically the haunt of the ship, but hopefully he's not interrupting your night.
C
Wildcard!
B
Fancy meeting you here.
B
I kind of thought you'd be a nightgown girl, honestly.

winn staggers over to the kitchen in the middle of the night, mumbling incoherently to himself. if he listens closely, kirk may hear curious statements such as 'carry the one' and 'find the constant'.
he makes himself a coffee without so much as acknowledging kirk's presence. don't take it personally, though, the reason for it is that he simply hasn't noticed him. that's rectified, however, when he turns with his cup in hand and jumps when his eyes fall on kirk, spilling drops of coffee on his hand. ] Jesus, man, make a sound - [ he wipes his hand on his pants, before realizing that's probably not the smartest thing he could've done here.
putting his cup down, he goes to wash his hand. ]
Can't sleep?
no subject
Kirk just sips his coffee and watches Winn for a moment, cocking his head at the muttering and wondering what he's so intent on. He himself is being quiet and not making an effort to announce himself as he drinks. The jump makes him smirk a little around the lip of his mug, licking his lips when it pulls away. ]
Not really. But that's par for the course for me. What about you? I usually don't see you up this early.
no subject
Just - working on some stuff.
[ he usually can't rip himself away long enough to drag himself for fuel, but after the dresses it kind of became necessary. too many sleepless nights, he's getting tired. ]

And so, he'll be wandering in, greatsword resting across his shoulder. There you are. ]
Well. I am here.
Re: A
[ He'll take it. He has a feeling moving past that particular feeling will require a celebration when it happens. The kind that involves informing a yellow talking pony that a celebration is in fact needed and just let him go wild. The great sword catches him by surprise and he blinks at it for a second, but recovers quickly and smiles at Fenris. ]
So you are. And armed. I like a man who comes prepared.
no subject
Ah yes. I was fortunate enough to procure this from a planet we visited. If you would prefer to spar with something else, though, I can change.
