[If anyone ever had a doubt that Tyrion Lannister likes to keep himself occupied, today would be the day that he put all doubts to rest. His fingers flick against the side of his camera as he is reaching for a book. Which is good, because he's got three open now. He frowns at one paragraph, then pushes off with his chair - with wheels, fascinating things these.

Then he was picking up a screwdriver, turning to a tank that looked a great deal like the displays at the Green Museum, twisting a brace into place, eying it, then rolling back across the floor to check on the panels for the engine. He picked up a clipboard, put down the screwdriver and exchanged it for pencil while he marked off a few things on a list, then pushed himself off to roll back to his desk, where he flipped a page on his second book, muttering quietly to himself.]

'This means that the center of mass of the arrow–where gravity acts–is further forward than the center of pressure–where aerodynamic forces act. This results in the aerodynamic forces helping to stabilize the flight of the arrow.'

[He tapped the page, then pushed off again to his work-table, where a variety of weapons were lying on the surface, and plucked up the bow.] Yes, all right, that means I just need to change the density of the string and curve the bow a little more for the right amount of pressure per inch... good, good.

[He hummed as he put the bow back down, and reached underneath for his toolbox, singing softly to himself as he went through the varying strings he had gathered for said bow.]

[Clearly, Tyrion is something of a workaholic, when he gets himself going.]

[She could argue that, but he would just give her his ironic expression. As it stood, he did believe that she liked his face well enough. She was one of the few, though.]

Well, some of us are too easily bored, to be honest. Give him my regards, if you would.

I might be one of those people. I just haven't found anything to focus my energies on. [Or maybe she's just low on energy to focus. A mild depression maybe. It wouldn't be much of a surprise after the break up with Reid and then the abduction to the Fleet. There are lots of good things about this place, but again it was all out of her control. Except for Winn and her meager daily routine she's been largely listless.]

I will make sure your regards get to him safely.

Well, if you ever need a project ...

[He gestured around his workspace, with a faint smile on his face.] I would always love to have someone assist me. And if it is a good friend, even better.

[He nods and smiles, a real one, before it fades into a thoughtful expression.]

It does seem like there's no shortage of them. I don't want to make weapons for people I don't know even with a friend. [She likes the title if not the job prospect.] But maybe I could keep you company.

[She notices the look.] I'd say penny for your thoughts, but then you'd probably ask me what that means and what a penny is. So I'll just say, you look like you have something on your mind.

Well, it isn't just weapons I am making. I am also working on building greenhouses for each of the ships. To help with supplanting the gardens we have already started. [He smiled, at that.] But I always enjoy your company.

[He tilted his head at her, giving her a crooked little smile.] I was just thinking ... is this what it feels like not to be alone, but to feel only one kind of loneliness? It's quite odd for me. Usually I must stand by myself.

Oh, right. Jon mentioned that at the masquerade. And I know Margaery wants more flowers on the ship. Vision is already growing some medicinal herbs and foods.

[She reaches up, tucking back some hair and looking at him thoughtfully.] So, friends but not someone to love? That kind of loneliness? [The kind she had before Winn. Though she suffered that, what...5 months? Maybe 7 of her entire adult life.]

Yes, Jon and I discussed it, as did Margaery and I. How is Vision keeping his plants alive, I wonder ...

[He hummed, as he half turned towards the tank he was working on, then back to her. Then he nodded his head once.] Yes, that. I have not made friends I have not paid money for, outside of Jon Snow. I did not realize ... I did not realize what an empty place my heart was.

With science. [Can she stop there?] I didn't ask. But he has some grow lights so probably that and water. Hydroponics is a thing back home, but I'm less sure about how space impacts it. You can check it out when you come over. Maybe talk to him about it. [But her thoughts aren't really on the plants right now. She has a soft, sad look to be giving him.]

Tyrion...

It's very hard to hug someone through the network.

Mmm. [A faintly amused look, before he nods. He will ask this Vision fellow tomorrow, if he can find him. He meets her soft, sad look with a quiet, sad one of his own.]

Well ... I suppose you shall simply have to wait until tomorrow.

Or what? You'll kick me off your ship if I come over there?

Aren't you meant to be going seeing Winn? [He gave her a gentle look.]

I have time.

...well as you said, I cannot kick you off the ship. Furiosa would have my head.

I'm glad to see you've accepted you're powerless against me. First Breath, right?

Yes, I suppose I am. [A faint snort.] Yes, the First Breath.

I'll see you soon. [And if he doesn't meet her in the cargo bay she'll just go searching his ship for the room with all the arrows.]

[She honestly does not have to go that far. He is waiting for her down on the shuttle bay, because the last thing he needs is to have everyone watching him while Kitty gives him sympathy hugs.

He has a reputation, after all.]

[She disembarks from her shuttle the old fashioned way—by phasing herself through the door. That's old fashioned, right? Maybe she doesn't know what that word means. It isn't long before she spots Tyrion though and smiles as she walks over.] Hey you.

[His lips curve up in amusement as she comes straight out of the shuttle.] Hello yourself. I must say, I am puzzled by your disdain for doors. [He holds out his hands to her, palms up.]

Doors are the worst. [Smirking. It's really just something of a habit born partially of necessity. After all, it's nice being able to carry things and still easily pass through doors without all the juggling of items. It also comes from a desire to be seen as who and what she really is. She has an "invisible" power. Other mutants can be branded different on sight. She can pass for "normal" and she doesn't want to. She doesn't want someone to like her because they think she's something she's not and then change their mind. Of course she's not worried about that with Tyrion. Maybe less worried about it with him than nearly anyone in the Fleet. She thinks she'd find acceptance with him for who and what she is and the things she's done. She still worries about how Winn would really feel if he saw her in action in the past or even now if something happened.

She's not sure if she should be taking his hands right now, but what she does is accept it as a willingness for that hug she threatened before. She bends one knee to lower herself and wraps her arms around him to pull him close for a hug.]

[Well, he was trying to avoid the kind of sympathy that was going to remember how empty his heart and bed was, but well. It was Kitty, and he was rather powerless to this hug. So he hugs her in kind, his voice still put upon with dryness.]

Do I look that pathetic?

I can't even imagine using the word pathetic to describe you, Tyrion. [She can't. Maybe if she'd seen him really drunk... But as it is, no. He's too clever and thoughtful and regal for something like that.]

I just know how I've felt when I was alone and hugs are better. [To that end she doesn't pull away because, well, sometimes you need a longer hug.]

Oh, well. I shall take whatever definition you have. [He smiled a little into her shoulder, and let her keep squeezing him. When he was truly drunk he was that pathetic - but he wasn't planning on going back that way, thank you ever so much. He is done, trying to drink himself to death.]

You really are just looking to have me be an emotionally stable person, aren't you? [He stated, with a smile.] I have read about this.

[She laughs softly.] Of course, if you can be one, maybe there will be hope for me. [And finally she pulls back, though she keeps her lower position for the moment even if it's a little awkward. Well-trained bodies can handle such things! And it's not like she gets to use the training for saving lives anymore. Might as well use it for better eye contact and for him to be able to re-initiate if he wants.] What did you read?

[He smiled again.] I would not get your hopes up for that. [He looks at her, watching her lean back on her knees. She had remarkable balance, there.] I read a book on modern psychology. Just to see if I could understand some of the more modern ... ideals of today.
