Good day everyone, this is Jim Kirk speaking, of the Tourist. If I could have your attention for one moment -

I have a request - I'm looking for someone who is good with chemical analysis of biological materials. Namely flora from the moon. My ship isn't equipped for an analysis and I'll be the first to admit that such analysis has never been my forte. I would like a partner in figuring out what chemicals, exactly, have affected the planet. I believe this is one of the first steps in helping the people here recover.

Quite a few. I wanted a good range of the visible flora I came across in the forests.

I'll be sure to share what results I find. Helping these people isn't about glory - it's about getting this moon back to a healthy state, and thus the people. More heads that can help to clear things the better.

I agree completely. This is not about glory. This is about ... doing the right thing, for the right reasons.

I've done some chemistry, but it isn't part of my field. I'm in the astronomy area, but I've been trying to research the moon and figure out how to help the people recover as well.

Would you mind me coming over and seeing what you find? I've made some findings as well, and I think if we work together on this, we can really help these people out.

No, of course not. If anyone can find a good solution based on the results, I think it's worth a shot. More heads the better for this sort of thing, I think. Several plans of action for the people to pursue after we leave might not be a bad idea.

Yeah, definitely. I keep worrying about what'll happen to the vegetation if we manage to clear up all the pollution; they've been used to the air and soil for a long time, and changes to it might have some consequences. So I was thinking - We've still got a bunch of seeds for the Iskaulit garden from other planets, what if we give some to them? That way they've got something in case the worst happens.

Biochemistry is one of my fields of study. I'd be happy to help - I've been looking at the chemicals in the plant life, too.

Really? Excellent. I have a large array of samples from my treks in the woods. I think thorough chemical analysis of them and even genetic if we can get it would go a long ways in figuring out how to help this place mend.

Heh, I do too. Butt I was hoping some people might have managed to create or acquire some powerful versions on their own. I don't know that we can get anything stronger without outright buying it off a station or crafting it ourselves.

Afraid chemical analysis may be beyond me, but I have been studying the terraforming equipment if you'd like some notes I've come up with.

Those would be great, actually, thank you. It's not illogical to think the two are related. Personally, I think they're in the middle of it all, but evidence is always nice in backing up a theory.

Sure thing. I'll write everything down in a more, ah... legible manner. How does your home world tend to measure things? Are you from Earth at all?

[That will also give him a chance to rewrite things in a way someone who hasn't had dealings with Plants before might be able to understand.]

[ he's got so much work to do he really can't take on another project, not of this scale. plus, this isn't exactly his forte either, and he's already taken on way too many projects he's not qualified for. but that doesn't mean he can't help.

he calls from kara's office, where he's currently working on the first of said projects he's not qualified for, because he's got way too much work to do and besides if jim is going to make him use the treadmill that cuts down on how much regular walking he needs to do, right? ]

Can't help you there, but I got some cool equipment whoever does can borrow. [ they've been working with a lot of chemicals for project plato, to all of their concern. ]
