[ Failure again. He wanders away, uncomfortably aware that he'll probably have to take a job to earn the money he needs - a job that isn't just what he can create with his two hands, which is a quaint rarity here.
He spends his time quietly wandering near shops and taverns. He is too careful, and tense in a way that doesn't fit with his surroundings. He doesn't partake the way the people of this moon do. ]

[ Cecil comes up behind her resident engineer, having turned a corner to find him milling the active town markets alone. She gives him a small smile in greeting, but then quickly sidesteps him, so that his body is actually blocking any passerby's view of her. It's as though she doesn't want a lot of people seeing her. If she seems a little more attractive to Malak today, that might explain it. ]

He doesn't notice what it is she's doing. ]
I haven't been able to find a metalworker who'll let me take materials.
no subject
It's a little different now and she shyly looks at him for a moment longer before she finally answers him, turning away because she realized she was rudely staring. ]
Ah... I-I see. Well... I take it they want to trade for the materials or some form of currency in exchange?
no subject
Yes. But I have nothing to start with.
no subject
We could... take a job, if you'd like to earn something, though I do still have money myself from the months I was here before being pulled out.
no subject
[ He thought he could bypass all of that and just find a way to do what he loves without it. ]

Malak sticks out like a sore thumb, to him. He's also got a good memory. So, being in a distinctly good mood, he saunters right up to where he's wandering and gives him a friendly wave.]
Hello, friend.
no subject
Glances up, and it takes him a second to recognize - ]
It's Robin, right? The one who almost died.
no subject
[he smiles, despite Malak recognizing him from something terrible.]
I'm sorry if I was short with you, over the network. And I'm afraid I don't know your name in return.

Just Malak, then. It's a pleasure to meet you.
[he... holds out his hand for a handshake?]
no subject
Are you all right? Are you still wounded?
[ He feels as though he should ask. ]

Excuse me?
[just a very generic greeting to start with]

A sigh.
He looks up to the hum of the motor, and to the greeting. ]
Yes? [ Hint of hope in his eyes. ]

I couldn't help but overhear, it sounds as if you were having trouble with that shop owner?
[she doesn't want to admit that she overheard most of the conversation upfront, she doesn't want to seem rude, or nosy]

[ One of the reasons he's having trouble arguing with it. He never had to do this before; his clan took care of the expenses as he undertook his training, and from there he paid for himself. ]
no subject
Would it be possible for someone else to purchase time at the forge for you? Perhaps they could pretend to be an investor, or a patron?
[and by they she means her]

[ A bite of his lip. He doesn't usually take gifts from women, ever. But it might be important enough, to start him off. ]
I don't like to take gifts unless I know what's expected in return. [ Firm, but a little - flinching, almost. Like he expects anger, perhaps, at that response. ]

bending space and time
which is how she eventually wanders upon someone making things. people like that always catch her eye, but this one seems pretty quiet and reserved compared to the rest of the moon. also kind of familiar? maybe he's been on the network...
...Hi Malak there's a teenage girl staring at you.]

He rubs a large, rounded tool into the spaces between impressions, solidifying the main trunk. A slightly narrower one starts to fill out the branches that he's already traced. Despite the minor noise around him, people eating and drinking, he is focused. ]

she admittedly doesn't know a whole lot about her fae self. she's heard (or maybe just instinctively knows) that she can get glamour off of people who are artistic and creative... since they're closer to magic, and all that, but she's never done it. she wouldn't know where to start.
but, hey, maybe it'd be nice to just... watch someone do art for a while. she gathers up her courage, pushing her hair off of her shoulders, and walking forward. she'll wait politely in front of him until he can look up and notice she's there.]
