Does anyone have any apples or honey or anything close to either from the last stop? I was...just thinking about it today. [Softer.] Not that I even know how to tell when sundown is in space.

[But she knows it's close to Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish new year, but nailing down a date would take calculating she can't do based on a moon that's not even here. She's not really a religious person and has some definite issues with god especially after everything she's been through back home, but the traditions remind her of better times when she was young with her family. She didn't think about it much in the last place because they didn't run off of a calendar she was familiar with, but here it brings back memories.]

Anyway, I'd trade for some if you do. We'll work something out.

Leshana tovah. [She's wishing people a good year in Hebrew, but she doesn't bother explaining the meaning.]

[ he does think about the men in her life. he has no idea how long she's been with any of them, and he's pretty sure he's better off staying that way, but he feels this sinking feeling in his gut.

he counters it by nudging her. ]

That would make you almost as old as I am.

[It absolutely doesn't change who she wants to be with now but it does explain to her why things got so intense over such short spans before. Spans even shorter than the one she's been with Winn. It's kind of a relief? It also makes her feel like she should be beyond more of her issues though. But maybe years of trauma take years of recovery.]

I know. What am I going to do with someone age appropriate? And maybe I'm wrong> I don't know. It's all really confusing. [Nuzzle.]

[ to winn, things have gotten incredibly intense sometimes frighteningly fast between them. he can't imagine it happening over a shorter timespan. ]

The same thing you do every night, Kitty. [ he nuzzles back, not wanting to linger on a somber mood now. things are bad enough with rogue gone. ]

[Try to take over the world? She gives him a soft kiss. They've been really together, what? Six months?]

Oh good. I like what I usually do.

[ six months. things have started to settle and space out and build in a more reasonable pace but when they started out it sometimes felt like they were going so fast all they could do was crush. ]

Just like?

[ he smiles ]

[She doesn't mind the speed. She likes where they are and where they've been. That's all that matters.]

[ when he would stop to think about it, it freaked him out. he's feeling much more secure now.

he nods and stands up, offering her his hand. ]

[It did bother her a bit in the beginning if only because Reid criticized the speed she moved at a lot. It was part of why she wasn't looking for anything serious when she met him. But how could she not fall for this guy?

She puts her hand in his.]

I, um, offered some to Erik.

[ in the moment, he would always go with her. being desired, loved, it was too tempting to pass on. but on his own, sometimes, he would worry. they've settled into a more comfortable pace now, and he's secure enough in her love to be able to say something - like, say, the children talk - needs to wait. ]

Did he accept, did you meet? [ he tries to keep his voice neutral, not sure if this is going to be a good thing or a bad one. ]

We're still texting back and forth on it. But he did mention he might make challah bread too.

[ he feels so out of his element here. atroma, how about at least allowing some wikiaccess? he hates being so ignorant of something he's now realizing - matters. ]

Yeah, that's right. Mom didn't bake much, but we did get them sometimes from a local bakery.

[ so relieved, it's like he just got a question right on a test. but it's too early to relax, because the next question may come at any time and no one told him it was happening and he never prepared for it and this is so stressful!! ]

What else did you used to do? [ she usually likes it when he asks questions about her family, right, so maybe he can cover up his ignorance here. ]

Big meal. It wasn't a huge thing. There wasn't much family around. Only my grandfather came over from Poland before the war. [And the others never made it out.] Oh, and not kosher. You've probably noticed I don't keep that. [She wouldn't have been able to in Apocalypse's America anyway. But she didn't try before that either.]

Yeah, I don't know exactly what kosher means, but I'm pretty sure 'no bacon' goes somewhere in there.

Yes, that's how I know it's tragic and wrong. [Kidding. Her opinion on bacon isn't that strong. She just doesn't think god would be that worried about what people eat.]

Are there other things you do adhere to? [ he kinda thought they shared the same mindset when it came to religion, but he failed to consider family traditions.

Adhere? No, I mean... I'm not religious. I'm just Jewish?

Okay, I can see where that wouldn't make sense.

No, it does, it's like - it's a cultural thing, right? Like I like having a Christmas tree. [ but not much of anything else. ]

You do? [She doesn't sound surprised. But she is making a note because she'll want him to have one.] But yeah, like that.

[She smiles a little.] Do you have anything else you adhere to? [Using his word.]

They're pretty.

[ he shrugs. and back home, he's got all sorts of nerdy decorations to hang on them. it's fun.

she gets a I see what you did there smile, as he shakes his head. ]

Do Christmas gifts with friends count? Cuz I do that.

They have a certain indoors turned outdoors charm. [Smiling at him.] So, get a gift for my guy in a few months. Got it.

We did the usual kind of Hannakah stuff too. Candles. Little gifts. Gelt. Food. Always food.

[ he nudges her. ]

Hey, food's always good. Anything in particular? Besides the honey apples... [ nodding ] Hanukkah's the one that's around Christmas, right?

action; what if I spell it differently every time?

[She was planning to get him something for that before this came up. Well, maybe not planning as in there are actual plans, but it was always going to happen.] Yep. I mean, it can land at different times like Easter, but it's generally around then.

Mm, food. There's usually a brisket or sometimes salmon. Some years we had both so Dad could call it Surf and Turf Hanukkah. Potato latkes with applesauce, noodle kugel, usually some vegetables in casserole form and salads in marshmallow form because we were in the midwest. Oh! And the donuts. Can't forget the donuts. They're just the holes with cinnamon and sugar on them. After listing all these foods I'm going to be really disappointed if our next stop is largely food free.
