[ It's about time. Pheobus' Crow isn't generally one to feel at all claustrophobic but between the strange hair-changing girl and the captain wannabe (though now he supposes he actually is captain, of all the misfortune) he's more than ready to spread his wings and work out the irritable little kinks that have been starting to build in the back of his mind.

The moment they're docked and the main doors open, Crow is gone from the ship and takes to the air. While the mall strip-like areas remain oddly bare and unwelcoming there's at least plenty of room for him to spread his wings and ample space to perch. The courtyard looks nice and all that, but something about having the vacuum of space above his head isn't quite so comforting as an actual roof.

So if you happen to be making your way through the outer ring of the way-station you might just hear the sound of a crow, cawing. Or maybe you're just crazy. Birds in space? Pshaw. ]

[ he's not the only one feeling claustrophobic--riku's been on his own for quite a while, so he's enjoyed his solitude. being in a tiny cramped spaceship with three other people he doesn't know has been absolutely frazzling on his nerves. just a walk will help at first. he means to just meditate in the courtyard and get his act together, but maybe a glance around the shops would be better... who knows if he could stumble across something.

he didn't expect to stumble across a crow, and riku immediately backs up a few steps.

he's never really been much of a birdwatcher, but he's rather familiar with the raven that used to perch on maleficent's shoulder, so he's kind of stiff for a few precious moments, staring phoebus' crow down.

... but then, he relaxes when he hears the caw. ] Right--crows caw, ravens don't.

Hard to tell when I can't see that well.

Oh? I'm impressed. Most people just go with a difference in size. [ Bet he didn't expect it to suddenly start speaking him at him out of the blue. But Riku's impressed him to some degree. Normally people really don't know the difference between the calls of a raven and an crow.

And the of course there's the oddly bleached colour of his hair. He didn't think old-man-silver was a Thing for the general youth. ]

[ riku abruptly goes rigid before he falls into a defensive stance. ]

riku sighs, shifts out of his stance, and presses the heel of his hand against his eye. ] Sorry. Guess the trip made me jumpy.

[ he crosses his arms and shifts his weight. ]

Well... I can't see much. You're more of a blur... so telling what size you are wouldn't be right, anyway. [ by 'too well', he really means 'i'm practically as blind as a bat'. ] I've had some experiences with ravens, so I know what they sound like. Process of elimination, right?

[ a moment; ]

[ Oh, Riku.... Let him make fun of your vision when he finds out. ]

Well. "Everyone else" appears to be some degree of human or human look-alike, and I am a crow. I would think I am a passenger "not" like everyone else in that regard. [ He's also cheeky, can you tell? The way he steps on the rafter above is only too pleased with himself but blindly may or may not catch that. Squint harder, pleb. ]

[ heh. riku actually chuckles at that. ]

You've got a point... I was more wondering if you were an alien crow, though.

[ thankfully, to make up for his poor vision, riku's sense is pretty accurate. he can tell he's moved, but he doesn't say anything about it. ]

Not so much in the sense you mean, I'm sure. Until recently I had yet to leave the general atmosphere of the Earth. Shocking, I know.

Hm... 'Earth', so like everyone else...

[ there's so many people from "earth" that he's starting to grow a little concerned. maybe people from that world are easier to take? combined with the whole 'people who were on other worlds to begin with' phenomenon... all of this is very concerning. he frowns, sliding his hands into his pockets. ]

That can't be a good sign. [ looking back up to phoebus' crow. ] Let me guess: you're the captain of your ship, right? I've heard crows're pretty smart.

[ he's teasing.

[ OH HOW HE WISHES... Instead, he's got Gin. Who throws things at him.

Phoebus' Crow ruffles his feathers in a rather unhappy manner as he thinks about the squinty-eyed annoyance. Then evens out and tries to let that all smooth over; Gin isn't here, no need to get worked up about it. ]

Smart yes, but a leadership role does not quite become one in my...position. I am not in the business of leading, but following.

Your... position.

[ headtilt. that was definitely a spike of darkness, wasn't it? something of a bad emotion... so he doesn't like not being the leader, looks like. he'd assume that he has been given a different 'position' in the ship--maybe a crowcook or...

(... give riku a minute. his eyes glazed over. a crow cook. he's imagining a little crow flitting about making soup. it's not that hard to imagine--he's met remy before, and he's pretty sure he's learned everything he knows from cooking from that little rat.)

funny how rodents teach the most.

he shakes his head for a moment to clear his head before running a hand back through his hair. ]

You don't look too happy about it.

Our captain is an idiot. [ Nice and blunt, Crow's not holding any opinions back here. Gin threw a wad of paper at him. He has yet to forgive this terrible transgression and he plans to hold it against him until he sees an appropriate form of recompense. ]

[limitstorm]

riku tries to regain his composure. ]

Uh-- [ ... it's kind of hard, though. he finally clears his throat. ] What'd he do?

[ is the myth that crows remember if you do something bad to them for much longer than you'd hope true-- ]

[ In his case, yes. He's been around more than two-thousand years and he will hold a grudge if he wants to. ]

He's made a game out of throwing items at me when he thinks I am not paying attention.

[limitstorm]

[ the smile wipes off of his face, and he frowns deeply. ]

Talk about a bad captain. Even if you're not human... [ he shakes his head. ] There's no use for that.

Well, that is the average human for you... Crows are not especially favoured by your lot. I've seen much worse. [ And experienced, but he doesn't offer that piece up. Talking about the past isn't something he's fond of unless it involves good experiences. Or if it serves some sort of purpose.

"A murder of crows, an unkindness of ravens..." Yeah, you're right.

[ not much love for the black birds. ]

An addled woman and some other fellow. [ He hasn't really met him; Phoebus' Crow avoid the bunk room whenever it's in use as a general rule. ]

An angel, a normal girl--at least, I think she's normal... and a weird guy. He's our captain.

[ how do you describe robin, really... ]

An angel? [ Pheobus' Crow cants his head. ] You must be rather fond of them. A significant other, perhaps?

[ Ah, that's never not fun. If he could only smile to himself. Youth were always a boundless source of entertainment. ]

My mistake~ [ But he doesn't sound particularly sorry at all, and finally he hops down from above and flaps his way to a nearby bench so he can per along the back of it, side-stepping his way to a more comfortable spot. ]

Afraid I don't much believe in the divine though.

[ a sigh as he tries to calm and let the embarrassment fade. jeez... a crow, making him bluster? that's new. when he moves, riku's gaze follows, and he reorients himself. ]

Neither do I, but I don't know what else you call someone like that.
