i know you, that look in your eyes is so familiar a gleam
( for N-Z characters )
Before you post your toplevel comment, please:
1. Check the first letter of your character's name as its written in our tags. N-Z names comment here, and A-M names go to the other post.
2. Make a note in your comment if anything especially triggering or graphic might show up in the Calibration. If you're not sure if something's worth noting or not, we suggest listing it anyway, just to err on the side of caution.
3. Put your character's name (it can be shortened or different from the tag, this time) in the subject of your comment. This will help visitors find you easily, and help us update the list below.
4. Post your comment! It's fine if everyone's Calibrations end up looking and reading very different from one another. As long as you're having fun and following our guidelines, you're good to go. :)
5. If you have any questions or concerns during Calibrations, you are welcome to send them towards the mod team at any time, as always.

Well, yeah. Nothing;s gonna split us apart. We'll always have each other's backs. I love her.

[Growing up noble, she's seen too many siblings turn on each other. She and Fergus were an exception, but their age gap may have helped with that.]

Are there more memories of her down there?

She'll be in a lot of them, we did a lot together.

[Ugh, she hates having to do this, but she doesn't see any other way. Nothing that doesn't require staring at snow for hours on end.
She heads back down to the village, initially going towards that iceberg again. And again, she's distracted by something else: those rocks in a circle. She approaches them, her feet brushing up against one.]

[Well. That one is. Too bad, Riona. ]
The memory flickers and swirls around you. First, there is a woman, though her face is...blurred. There's a feeling of love around her though. Of bitter-sweetness. The memory becomes more solid and you and a little girl are having a snowball fight in the village, laughing and having a good time. That is, until ash starts to fall from the sky. Black snow. You and the little girl look up at it, concern on your features. Even at your young ages, you know exactly what that means.
"I'm going to find mom," she says, running off towards your family tent.
You run the other way, looking for your father. For the other men. To protect the village. Huge metal ships come crashing into the ice near the village, men leaping out, fire coming from their hands. You know what this is, you've seen it, all your people have seen it. It's why your village, your tribe is so small now. It's a raid.
You watch the warriors of the tribe battle, and when one of the raiders gets thrown into the snowdrift you're next to, you slam a snowball down on his head. It's not much, but to you, it is a little victory. A stand. You hop over him, picking up a bladed boomerang on the snow. Your father's.
...The raiders suddenly leave. It's strange. You're used to them rounding up people, taking them away. But they have no one. They just...go. You feel relief. Confusion, yes, but for the most part relief. Which turns into a heavy feeling of guilt- as the memory fades away without any more explanation.

The memory switches, swirls, memories flicker too fast to keep track. The arrow boy keeps appearing, laughing, crying, having quiet moments of solace. The feelings grow from distrust to mild annoyance, to eventually a strong bond, something you could only call family. The memory switches once more, and sticks.
You are sitting on a hill, a wolf-helm in your hands, staring out at a fleet of wooden ships. A feeling of unworthiness festers in your stomach like a lead weight. The boy with the arrow on his head lands beside you from his air glider.
"We've been looking everywhere for you," he says. "The boats are ready to leave."
"I...messed up, Aang," you say.
"...What?" Aang responds, confused.
"The invasion plan was my moment of truth," you look at the helm, frowning. "And I completely flubbed it. I just...fell apart."
"Sokka," Aang puts a hand on your shoulder. "That speech wasn't your moment of truth. That was just public speaking, and nobody's really good at that."
"My dad is!" you respond. "He explained the plan perfectly and inspired everyone. Like a real leader should."
"Look," Aang drops his hand, staring out at the sea with you. "Your moment of truth isn't gonna be in front of some map. It's gonna be out there, on the battlefield. "
"You seem so confident about everything," you say, turning to him. "How do you know we're gonna win?"
"Because I already failed the world once at Ba Sing Se," he replies. "I won't let myself fail again."
And with that, the memory flickers and fades out.

I'm glad you have such a good friend in Aang.
no subject
Oh yeah, I'm lucky to know him. I mean, sure he's a pain like sixty, seventy per cent of the time, but he's still a good guy. We wouldn't be where we are without him.
Plus he kinda marries Katara in the future so I'm pretty much stuck with him.
no subject
Now you're doomed. You'll have to put up with him at dinners and family get togethers.

[It's the BEST term ever, okay. ]
Me and Suki are different. We're way less obnoxious about it.
[No. They're not.]

[Sokka, there's like a six foot statue to her that you made and put in the Cargo Hold, come on. ]

You don't think crafting a statue of your girlfriend isn't even slightly cheesy?
no subject
How could you imply such a thing? It's an honourable homage!
