a. everybody's fan

[while the idea of teams and competition is something Baku is familiar with in theory, well . . . she can't pick a team. Well, more like - she doesn't want to. Why can't she cheer for all of them? They all look like they're having so much fun, so why should her support only go to one of them?

She doesn't buy any of the clothing merchandise, but those little flags you can wave? You bet she bought one for every team. And she'll sit in the stands and wave both, because that's her compromise]

b. fashion shows

[that is, until she comes across the fashion shows and all of her attention is drawn to that. She loves fashion, whether it's wearing it or seeing what the latest styles are, and that doesn't change just because she's no longer on Earth]

What a creative use of colors, isn't it? [she'll comment to anyone nearby as she watches a model strut by] Fashion is so interesting.

c. board games

[she's very good when it comes to chess, and it's only by accident that she ends up in one of the competitions. She didn't mean to! And she makes it very clear that she hasn't join any of the teams, but the person who challenged her insisted in the spirit of competition, and well . . . how could she resist?

After, she'll keep coming back, either to watch the other competitors to join in once again. She may as well have some fun while she's here]

Yeah, [Cas says idly, watching people strut by. It wasn't something he paid much attention to back home until he had to like, change his clothes when they got dirty. What a pain in the ass that was. And then, to care about what they look like! Peculiar.] It's fascinating to see how cloth has really caught on.

Mmhmm. [she glances at the man - glances up, gosh everyone was so tall here - and tilts her head] I remember when it used to be only for protection's sake. Cloth has come quite a long way, hasn't it?

[uh maybe don't use such a shorty for a form then, that's on you] It has. [Looks back over the proceedings, shaking his head in wonderment] And it's so important. To the point of writing decrees against mixed fibers into holy books. [Looks over at Baku.] Did that happen to you?

[it's a cute form ok sometimes you have to make sacrifices] Mmm, yes and no? I don't know if it ever made it into our holy material, but for a long time certain classes wore certain fabrics. I imagine that extended into religion, given how important it was at the time.

[Shiro loves the physical activities and he's been doing a ton of those... but board games have a soft spot in his heart, too. So he approaches the area while wearing the Starstrikers logo and colors (black and silver, not very different from his usual wardrobe) and smiles when he sees his friend already there.]

Signing up for the board games, Baku? What team are you playing for?

Shiro. [she greets as she glances up, taking her attention away from a game she was intently interested in - well, as intently interested as she gets] I thought it would be fun to sign up, but I haven't joined a team.

It's true, it's been pretty fun. There are all kinds of things to do, I'm still surprised about the board games. [Except for a few awkward moments he's had, he's been having a great time, enough not think much about those said moments.] No team? Can I ask why?

Mmm, I like that there's something for everyone. Not everyone is adept at sports. [she gives him a curious look, like the answer should be obvious] Because I want to cheer for everyone.

[He felt drawn to the fashion show for much the same reasons as she did. He had loved it back home, but during his youth, it had been the kind of thing is people thought of as silly and unnecessary. That he can indulge in it as an adult means everything.]

Oh! I know. And the way it simmers when she walks? That's breathtaking. I wonder what sort of fabric the designer used.

[ah, someone else who appreciates fashion. She offers him a faint smile and a nod of agreement with his assessment] Isn't it? I wonder if we'd be allowed to ask. I'd like to know, so I can try to find it.

I would hope so. Part of the point of this event is to show off the artist's work, isn't it? Perhaps if we find the right people to ask questions we can learn those sorts of details.

Mmm, that's true. At the very least, I'd like to compliment the artists face-to-face for their hard work. [wanting to find out what the outfits are made of is just a secondary, but equally important related part]

[she glances up at him, head tilted]

Mismatched.

And probably in need of new eyes.

Mismatched? Hmm . . .

[she eyes the outfit critically before she gives a shrug] Maybe that's why it appeals to me. It isn't that bad, though. It's unique.

A heartfelt, intrinsic achievement, [Kaworu replies, and he does it easily, as if they've been carrying a conversation all along, as if they've always been meant to be conversing. He talks like that a lot.] It's pretty good.

[He's been watching the models, and all the colors, face forward, his hands comfortably in his pockets. His shoulders are loose and relaxed, and it travels down into the rest of him. But now he turns his face toward her. He's got a smile like reunion. That's normal for him, too.]

Choosing new colors every day. Choosing a new silhouette. A choice is good, too.

Mmm, change and choice are important. [she picks up as if she too is just continuing a conversation, used to the behavior in some sense. Sometimes she got so caught up in human mannerisms that when something old-but-familiar came along, she tended to misstep - luckily, not this time]

Though the team aspect to it all is unique. They all try to work in their team's colors - they have a lot of pride in it.

Humans are like that. [It's not a negative remark—and the words themselves are neutral, but his voice has this airy quality that demonstrates a light heart.] Finding ways to categorize themselves. Finding ways to be a little less than the whole of them. But their pride is pretty to behold, right? [The colors, and everything. And maybe the commiseration, too.]

I like to think that they believe that together, they're stronger. That's why they band together so tightly. [she gives a nod, hands slipping into the pockets of her jacket] It certainly is. It's inspiring.

[ It's not the non-human thing that weirds Han out-- it's the part where suddenly his obviously non-human captain looked human again. He didn't want to ask for details, next time he saw her around the ship. It's just, the whole shapeshifter thing-- he can't help being a little skeptical.

Still, that's not important now. Newly-minted Starstriker that he is, Han has to lodge an objection. ]

I'd feel way more supported if you weren't rooting for all the other guys, too.

[if left up to her, Han would never have to see her real form again - just this one. Or . . . maybe another, if she had to change for some reason, who knows, this place is incredibly unpredictable. Either way, she appreciates that he hasn't asked.

She glances up at him and tilts her head, eyebrows furrowed curiously]

Do you want me to cheer only for you, then?

[ When you've worked for Hutts and you live with a Wookiee, it's hard to be too bothered by anything species-wise, as long as it isn't trying to eat you.

He shrugs, flashing her a smile. ]

I mean, don't you want to see your talented shipmate achieve victory?

Of course I do. [she tilts her head the opposite way] I'll cheer for you, so that my cheering for everyone else isn't a determinant.
