Does anyone have any apples or honey or anything close to either from the last stop? I was...just thinking about it today. [Softer.] Not that I even know how to tell when sundown is in space.

[But she knows it's close to Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish new year, but nailing down a date would take calculating she can't do based on a moon that's not even here. She's not really a religious person and has some definite issues with god especially after everything she's been through back home, but the traditions remind her of better times when she was young with her family. She didn't think about it much in the last place because they didn't run off of a calendar she was familiar with, but here it brings back memories.]

Anyway, I'd trade for some if you do. We'll work something out.

Leshana tovah. [She's wishing people a good year in Hebrew, but she doesn't bother explaining the meaning.]

[ he's just going to wrap an arm around her and squeeze her shoulder. he knows what that means to her. ]

Did you have any other customs? [ gently. ]

[She's not even sure what it means to her. She never brought up any of it while she was in the prison with their "Day 24, Day 25, Day 310..." nonsense. And back home there just wasn't usually time or resources. But it does feel important and having Winn's support always feels good.]

For Rosh Hashanah, not really. Just getting together for a big meal. My grandparents came over while they were still alive. [They died of natural causes, so this doesn't have the same weight it does when she talks about her parents' deaths.] Wishing each other a good year.

[ he sees it as something that connects back to a happy childhood, to people she loves and misses. he's been thinking about it a lot more than he's used to, here. how happy things used to be when he was little, how he still wishes he could go back and fix it, somehow. ]

I wish you the best year. [ he kisses her cheek ] We can get a meal together, invite some friends over if you want? Or go to the Windrose and make it a ship-dinner?

You too. [But about that best year and how it's starting.] I... I love that idea, but I just found out Rogue is gone. I don't know if I'm up for a big thing and I don't think Kurt would be comfortable with it. [Because of Rogue and also because he's not just an atheist, he's fiercely atheist. And While she thinks he'd understand that this is coming from a place of heritage and tradition and family that he might still not feel at peace with it.]

Oh, Kitty, I'm so sorry.

[ she gets a proper hug now, a nice tight one. why won't the hits ever stop coming? ]

[She hugs him back, leaning heavily against him.] I know she wasn't my Rouge, but she really helped me when I got here.

She was your friend, X-Men or not, from your world or not.

[ he knows that it would hurt so much worse if it was kurt, but the connections they've made in the fleet are important, they're precious. he would die a little inside if he lost jim, or hank, or cisco, or kate, or margaery...and friends who a little less close, he would still mourn their loss. losing rogue isn't as bad as it could have gotten, but he knows it's bad, it's bad enough. she should get to grieve. ]

[Definitely her friend and it hurts. It's such a familiar sting. She can't quite get to a place for release with it. She's just kind of sad.]

She left me a few things. Remy said there was a note.

Hey, I have another thing to say that needs saying and I've kind of mentioned it to be people before and I don't remember for sure if you were one of those people but you should be one of those people.

[ tilting his head. that sentence had a lot of people. ]

What is it?

I'm sure I told you at some point I was in the prison for almost a year? I'm sure I wasn't in the prison for almost a year now.

[ pulling back to look at her now. ]

...what do you mean?

I mean, I've been here 8 months. That's getting pretty close to the 11 I remember being there, but it's nothing like it. I mean...nothing. Either time is accelerated here or it was slow there. And I think it was the prison. I mean, I don't look more than a year older, but I think maybe I was there for...years.

[ he thinks that over for a moment. ]

Or -- they found a way to influence your perception of time. It was a virtual reality, right? If they can make you believe you're seeing and feeling everything you did - what's messing with the concept of time?

Well, yeah, but that's what I mean. It felt like 11 months when I was there, but looking back on it now I know it couldn't have been. I think it was longer and they made me believe it wasn't.

[ he opens his mouth, points, tilts his head, drops his hand, closes his mouth again and bites his bottom lip in frustration. ]

I was going somewhere with this. I don't remember where.

[She laughs softly and tilts her head against his.]

You have all the time in the world to remember. It's strange and complicated and there are probably just questions without answers. But something would happen for a day there and at the time I knew it was just a day and it felt like a long day but I never questioned it. Just looking back it feels more like a week which doesn't seem possible either because that would mean... That was there for almost seven years. [That she was with Reid and Tyki for years, not months. That she fought and failed to gain ground against an impossible system for years.]

[ he does think about the men in her life. he has no idea how long she's been with any of them, and he's pretty sure he's better off staying that way, but he feels this sinking feeling in his gut.

he counters it by nudging her. ]

That would make you almost as old as I am.

[It absolutely doesn't change who she wants to be with now but it does explain to her why things got so intense over such short spans before. Spans even shorter than the one she's been with Winn. It's kind of a relief? It also makes her feel like she should be beyond more of her issues though. But maybe years of trauma take years of recovery.]

I know. What am I going to do with someone age appropriate? And maybe I'm wrong> I don't know. It's all really confusing. [Nuzzle.]

[ to winn, things have gotten incredibly intense sometimes frighteningly fast between them. he can't imagine it happening over a shorter timespan. ]

The same thing you do every night, Kitty. [ he nuzzles back, not wanting to linger on a somber mood now. things are bad enough with rogue gone. ]

[Try to take over the world? She gives him a soft kiss. They've been really together, what? Six months?]

Oh good. I like what I usually do.

[ six months. things have started to settle and space out and build in a more reasonable pace but when they started out it sometimes felt like they were going so fast all they could do was crush. ]
