[It sure is a lovely day actually pretty much indeterminate time period out here in the vast darkness of space, isn't it? I bet everyone's enjoying themselves, getting a chance to get off their dinky little ship and stretch their legs. Even on this shitty, empty little waystation.

[ooc: hi everyone! I thought I'd give this a try and see how the game liked it. What we have here is a mass mingle post. Rather than everyone making a bunch of different posts about landing on the station, everyone is invited to post a parent comment with their character out and about, doing something. Everyone else is invited to look at who's posted, tag them, post their own parent comments, thread jack, tag around and generally have a grand old time! It should hopefully be a nice low-pressure way to do some action tagging with each other.

a. (courtyard)

[ this is like the opposite of a good park.

riku normally prefers the outdoors to meditate, but this is just kind of. sad. sigh. underneath a plastic tree, he plants himself, crosses his legs, and closes his eyes. no ifs ands or buts about it--he needs to clear his mind after having to deal with three strangers day in and day out for a few days. he's an introvert, he thinks. on top of that, even if his darkness and light aren't potent here--they're practically not present--they still need to be kept in perfect balance.

and they're not in perfect balance, they're kind of in disarray. you'll find riku silently meditating, no 'ooohms' or talking at all, with his head down. he almost looks like he's sleeping. ]

b. (courtyard)

[ yeah, that treadmill? was pretty shitty.

in essence, riku's just stretching and doing a few laps. treadmills are for the weak, he's much more at home with actual moving scenery. he's not above racing someone, either, so do be careful. ]

c. (shopping area)

[ riku's used to cooking for himself and one other--if you thought disney villains were graciously cooking his meals, think again. but as he looks at the foodstuffs available, he's a little dubious. ]

Is this a radish...? It can't be cassava... it's not a beet, either...

[ what the fuck is it??? ]

And there's no way that's beef or pork. Chicken, maybe? Uh...

Maybe sticking to jello is the safest way, at least no one gets poisoned...

[Ah, she's been thinking about how they can work all this out, and when she sees Riku in the mall, she makes a beeline for him.]

[ riku abruptly jumps when he hears someone call for him and a quickening aura--he only calms down when he recognizes it when she's a few feet away. ]

Oh--uh, hey.

Hi! Sorry, I didn't mean to startle you... [She waves, though her expression is a touch concerned.] Are you all right? I wanted to ask you something.

[ he spends a moment or two with his eyes closed as he regains his composure--she's on the ship with him, he has to remember. her presence is a bright light, bright like the sun shining through leaves in a dense forest. kind of like spring.

he has to remember how to differentiate the people he's around. accidentally hurting them is not an option. after the moment passes, he turns his head towards her. ]

I'm fine.

[That recovery time sure takes its time... so she can guess something is a little wrong. Shoot. She didn't want to bother him. She squints and takes a guess.] Did I interrupt a meditation? I'm sorry... [She doesn't wanna press it beyond that, but yeah.]

I was going to ask if you wanted to coordinate what we bought. I guess I'm assuming you'll buy something.

No, I-- [ well, being a part of a crew means you have to be open with them, right? of all people, even if riku's quiet about it, he should at least tell them. ] My... eyesight isn't good, everything's blurry. So I rely on my senses, like scent--I just haven't remembered yours yet. Couldn't tell who you were.

I was thinking about getting some of the food they have here. [ he rubs his neck. ] I don't know how to cook with the stuff they have on the ship, but this--? I can.

[While Riku is stretching, Kaneis idly strolls over- recognizing the kid. His arms are lightly crossed as he looks down at the kid]

That much cabin fever already, huh>

[ riku starts lightly but sobers upon realizing Kaneis' presence. he's a little sueorised before he answers. ]

[there's another dude poking around the food-related machines, but he's looking far more hopeless about the whole thing.

in fact, hearing Riku's muttered guesses sounds pretty impressive to him.]

[ riku blinks, and then awkwardly shakes his head. ]

No clue, but... process of elimination? If it's not one thing, maybe it's the other.

[ he looks back at the food. ]

But we are in space.

You sound like you have better guesses than I would...

[sighing helplessly in the direction of the food]

...How are we supposed to know what to do with these?

[ he hums, picking up one of the root vegetables and turning it over in his hands, squeezing it, sniffing at it lightly. ]

Cook and hope for the best? You could make a stew with this.

[Del likes quiet. Sometimes. When she's not busy liking chatter. Chatter can be nice too. Right now quiet is nice. Ish.

Well. She likes that sitting and leaning against a tree can gain her company, even if her company is maybe probably looks like to be sleeping.]

[ at first, he's too deep into his meditation to notice--

but when he starts to drift, he notices her. it's hard not to, really. he jerks and looks at her sharply, surprised and boggled. what? he's--never felt this kind of scale before. it's not light or darkness, it's nothing in between, and it's not nothing, he... doesn't know how to explain it. it's like staring into a kaleidoscope, really.

ugh, he's dizzy. ]

[She chews on the ends of her hair, yellow green pink strands sticking to her lips.]

since Robin is actually neither of those things, he tries to sneak up and crouch down next to Riku while he's meditating. looking very fascinated.]

[ riku's in too deep in his meditation for this.

while robin is likely looking or a jump or a yell, riku doesn't move or speak, eyes closed and breathing steady. seven seconds, inhale. seven seconds, hold breath. seven seconds, exhale. repeat. sry robin try a little harder bro ]

[ oop, touching. riku immediately jerks his head up, eyes wide open before he whirls around and punches robin right in his nose.

that's when he gives a yelp, holding his fist and shaking his hand with a wince. oh, goddamn, he used his bad hand, too! did he break his wrist all over again? no, no, it looks fine...

... wait. he stares at robin, and then nearly trips over himself to get to him. ]

C-captain? Robin!

[ oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit-- ]

[he was his pretty hard, so he's on his back, hand clasped over his nose... but his shock quickly dissipates into surprised, genuine laughter. he's grinning wide while he takes his hand away, even though there's already a small smudge of red.]

You called me captain! [another laugh--interrupted with a little 'ow'] Hah, that's great...
