dreams in digital
( for A-M characters )
Before you post your toplevel comment, please:
1. Check the first letter of your character's name as its written in our tags. A-M names comment here, and N-Z names go to the other post.
2. Make a note in your comment if anything especially triggering or graphic might show up in the Calibration. If you're not sure if something's worth noting or not, we suggest listing it anyway, just to err on the side of caution.
3. Put your character's name (it can be shortened or different from the tag, this time) in the subject of your comment. This will help visitors find you easily, and help us update the list below.
4. Post your comment! It's fine if everyone's Calibrations end up looking and reading very different from one another. As long as you're having fun and following our guidelines, you're good to go. :)
5. If you have any questions or concerns during Calibrations, you are welcome to send them towards the mod team at any time, as always.

And it fascinates him.
So of course he has to look at everything to decide what exactly he wants to touch first. Please don't mind him.]

The captain's chair probably looks the most inviting of all of the places to sit, and each station did have its own, if less impressive, chair.
The most exciting bit is probably the holotable, with its universal display. Planets of all sizes and colors - cobalt blue; silver and dark, dark gray; snowy white and blue; a dusty red run through with cracks; the super nova; the asteroids; the comet. There were many more, a universe that could never be, but somehow made sense on the table. ]

[He knows Kirk is there. He's known from the start. It's hard to catch a werewolf off guard. Who better than to tell him about an unfamiliar location than the man it belongs to?]

The Federation Starship U.S.S. Enterprise - my ship back home.
[ He turned around in the captain’s chair as if he had always been there (and maybe he enjoyed the odd dramatic flare). He smiled at Biffy, throwing his arms open to encompass the entire bridge. ]
And the view out the front is Earth.
no subject
This...is what it looks like from up here? Truly?
no subject
[ He chuckles softly, thoroughly enjoying Biffy’s amazement. There is nothing quite so amazing as seeing someone having their eyes opened to a new point of view, a new truth. ]
Truly. And it looks like we’re currently watching North America go by. England should come around in a few hours.

Is there anything you'd prefer I not touch, Captain?
no subject
Anything on the edge, really - the dark spots.
[ The meteor, the asteroid belt, the super novas. He could sense, in his heart, what they held, and he didn't fancy reliving them if he did not have to. ]

[He just wants to be absolutely sure before he goes in to touch. This is Kirk's room so he will respect his wishes.]
no subject
As far as I know, yes. I can't imagine they would trigger anything to deeply unpleasant.
[ He nodded towards the chair that sat alone on the deck and smirked. ]
Want to try it out?
no subject
Oh? I get to sit in your chair? Are you certain I should?
[He's teasing of course, waiting for that response first. Don't worry, he'll sit. He just likes listening to Kirk's responses to his teasing and doesn't want to miss it for a memory.]
no subject
It's not an invitation I give to everyone. And I won't be offering it again. Question is, are you sure you can handle her?
[ He put his hands on his hips and arched a brow at Biffy, grinning the entire time, clearly enjoying this game as much as the wolf. ]

[Turning, he sits down in the chair, ready to see what memory this will hold in store for him.]
no subject
The memory ended as the ship escaped the fireball it had created, the intense beats replaced with silence, and the blue or motion and action returning to the demure rotation of mother Earth. ]
no subject
And then it call comes to an end and those blue eyes are left staring at the peaceful rotation of the Earth instead.]
What was that? A battle?
[He can't be certain since it's something he's not used to seeing. So it's better to ask.]
no subject
Yeah, suppose it counts as one.
[ He rubbed the back of his neck. It wasn’t necessarily an unhappy memory, but the story behind it wasn’t exactly tea gossip either. ]
This man named Krall wanted to destroy the Federation, wipe it out, with an ancient weapon that consumed anything organic it could touch - some inorganic too. He was going to start with that colony you saw. And he controlled thay swarm of little fighter shuttles. We used the music to disrupt their comm frequency - what he used to connect to them, get them to move without crashing into each other. If those things had gotten to the colony, they would have annhilated it in minutes.
I was lucky - lucky my crew is brilliant, that Jaylah had repaired the Franklin to close to a flyable condition, that she even had those classic songs.
[ His mout curled in a soft smile. ]
They all made me really proud that day.
no subject
[He can gather that much.]
What should I look at next?
no subject
Well, at the time, it was anything but fond. I honestly thought I was going to shit myself a time or two. But looking back - looking back it's a proud moment for sure. Proud of the people around me, who stood with me, who went above and beyond.
[ A beat. ]
And yeah, it does look cool looking back.
[ He looks around the ship, knowing in some sense what may or may not be triggered. He can't be 100% sure on anything, but there's that tug in the back of his brain that let him know what he might see. He nodded back towards a con to the right. ]
The science officer's desk. That's where my first officer stands too, when he's on deck.

He lightly touches the station.]

[ The screen at the station crackles like the view port had before, a new <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Ymcq7BNgiI'>scene forming</a>, somewhere on the ship, but in the bowels somewhere, the hissing steam the only thing breaking a tense silence. Kirk remembered that sound. Of course he did. It dodged his footsteps some nights in his dreams. The scene played out, ending when his own memories of that event ended. He said nothing after it ended, watching Biffy, unsure of how the other would react. ]</p>
