[ Calibration Rooms ]
( for A-M characters )

Before you post your toplevel comment, please:
1. Check the first letter of your character's name as its written in our tags. A-M names comment here, and N-Z names go to the other post.
2. Make a note in your comment if anything especially triggering or graphic might show up in the Calibration. If you're not sure if something's worth noting or not, we suggest listing it anyway, just to err on the side of caution.
3. Put your character's name (it can be shortened or different from the tag, this time) in the subject of your comment. This will help visitors find you easily, and help us update the list below.
4. Post your comment! It's fine if everyone's Calibrations end up looking and reading very different from one another. As long as you're having fun and following our guidelines, you're good to go. :)
5. If you have any questions or concerns during Calibrations, you are welcome to send them towards the mod team at any time, as always.

[ Sup, nerd? Guess who's back?

Eithan lets out a low whistle when he looks around the room - it's all pretty impressive, honestly, even the books all over the place. And of course, the view from the one window is gorgeous! Even if the other one is stormy. Could be worse, honestly. And this is all super familiar, but the only other person he can see in here is a little kid-- oh dear goddess that's-- ]

    Belthazar?

[Before Eithan even finishes the elf's name, Belth is rocket-launching himself to tackle the man's legs. He's that perfect height and age where he can stand on Eithan's foot and cling to his knee.]

    Ohhhh, you're really tall!
    deviances: (expect nothing less)

[ fjkdsal and there is suddenly a child-sized Belth wrapped around his leg! He laughs - he can't help it, really, what else does one do in a situation like this? And he grins down at him. ]

Yeah I get that a lot. [ Snort. ] How's the weather down there, short stuff?

[Belth stares up at him with big blue-green eyes.] At least I don't run into doorframes!

This is my room, sort of. It's my room when I'm older, with a few more things in it.

[ And like a mature, adult individual, he responds to that comment by sticking his tongue out at Belth! (He's still grinning, though) ] Everyone should make taller doors. Obviously.

's that right? ... Anything you wanna show me?

[ Worth a shot. Beats just picking something up that Belth might not actually want him to see, right? Especially if the fact that he's a kid right now means this is gonna get into some incredibly personal things from his past - the last thing he wants to do is cross some sort of line. ]

[Belth giggles and sticks his tongue out right back, complete with a little wave of his fingers on his nose.]

    Show you? Hmm...

[He glances around. After a moment, he reaches for a blue book and takes it off the shelf. Then he offers it to Eithan. The book has gold embossed lettering in what looks like runes, but they seem to melt off the book, making it difficult to discern a title. There's a gilded lion's head crest on it, though.]

Want to see my first human friend?
deviances: (throw your pitch and show your number)

    Heh, sure. I'd love to.

[ Eithan does try to squint at the title before he takes it, but that's clearly not gonna work. Alas. But he does take it! ]

[Belthazar's tiny hands help open the book. The book has words, but they keep sliding off the pages and mixing with other words until the letters are just a jumble. And it doesn't matter, anyway, because Eithan is inside a memory.

The rain goes on endlessly outside, gray and more gray. The interior is clean and orderly, an apartment, modern but nowhere on par with the Fleet. This room is much brighter with white lamps in the corners of the room. It's cheery despite how minimal it is.

A blonde boy dressed in what could only be a prince's outfit receives Belthazar with a friendly smile. There is still some wariness in his expression. But then Belth holds out his arms full of books. The human boy goes unnamed but is nonetheless called Prince by the elfling.

The details of the conversation are rather mundane. They make a list of all the books they have between them, some fiction, some fantasy, and some on magic and warfare. They set up a recurring date to check in and swap books if necessary. And finally, begrudgingly, after being rather cold the whole time...

    Belthazar murmurs a thank-you.

The prince's expression shows a small amount of surprise, and then he smiles like the sun.

The tinier Belthazar gently closes the book and takes it from Eithan so he can hold it to his chest. The title is clearer now, A Treatise on Water Magic.]

He was a prince, but he never treated me like I was below him. I... would have liked to be more of a friend, or maybe even tell him as much, but I didn't get the chance... and he wouldn't recognize me on Azeroth, even if I did manage to survive sneaking into Stormwind.

But, [he continues, his expression wistful,] I learned that not all humans want to kill us for existing. I remembered that elves and humans used to be friends.
