Loki, you are a fucking mess of a god.

She closes the book quietly. It's interesting, in some sense, the parallels that run between their lives, though admittedly Loki's on a much grander scale. And how differently they chose to deal with them. Maybe that's why he chose to be cruel, when he found out her own history. It seems in keeping.]

Such a mess of insecurities you are. [Softly. Well. Takes one to know one.

She heads out to the Loki on the edge. If her way out is here, it's likely through him.]

[ Loki seems a little … different. Someone seems to have taken a brush to his face, because there are swathes of blue in a zig-zag pattern and one of his eyes seem to be a dark, blood red. His form seems to flicker on and off as if he’s not truly there and his voice tends to distort, like radio static. When you step onto the bridge, you can hear the siren song of the V̵̙͓̦̺͆͗̋ͩ̒ͅo͓͓̹͎̪ͪ͂ͧ̓ͨ̋͞i̭͎̹͍ͤ͊̆d͏͓͔̭̜͚, calling for your oblivion. He cocks his head, vaguely surprised. ]

I do not know you.

[It's a very attractive song at that, and she loses a few moments staring down over the edge herself before realising he'd addressed her. Makie blinks at the oddness to his face-- having seen what she'd seen, she can at least understand what it means, but it's disconcerting nevertheless.

But ah... yes. Seems kind of gauche to say we met in another life and you were an asshole at this point.]

No. I don't suppose you do. Is that all right?

[ honestly, loki would buy it. seems more likely than anything else he's heard about himself in other worlds. like you were my friend. he rolls his shoulders. he seems . . . younger. a strange amalgamation of loki that has none of the spite or anger. ]

It suits me fine. Did you find what you were looking for?

I did. [To the extent that she's willing to look, anyway. There's obviously plenty more to Loki than that slice of history, but it tells her enough to put his spite into context.]

You survived your fall, I assume.

Unfortunately.

[ that is how he'll always see it. ]

[Well, it's hardly an attitude she's unfamiliar with.]

I do not wish to pry any more than I have. How do I leave this place?

[ loki cocks his head. ]

There are but two ways. If you are satisfied, you can walk away. If you are not, you can continue or choose to fall.

[ a door opens on the far side of the observatory, next to the tapestries. in the distance, you see a golden city. ]

[Well, that's an interesting choice. Her gaze drifts to the void again.]

What happens if I fall?

You return to the nothingness from whence you came.

I do not recommend it.

[...not that long ago, it would have been very tempting. Still today, were she not so aware this was a dream. Loki's dream, to be more precise.
