[ Jim looked up at the approach, glancing over and smiling when he caught a glimpse of Kirk's face. With a smile, he turned a little more and wrapped his arms around Kirk, offering a warm, solid hug, should he need the comfort. ]

Only kind of? [ He huffed a chuckle, pulling away a little. ] That... was very sweet, actually. You two looked cute.

_{[ He leaned into the hug, wrapping his own arms around Kirk in turn.
Was it weird? Maybe to an outsider, but it felt natural and warm and right
in the moment. ]}

It was one of his sweeter moments. He was usually much grumpier than that. So much rage inside a tiny body. But he - it was nice, when he was here. I actually offered to take him back to my world, if ever figure out how to get out of here.

You did?

[ Jim's eyebrows rose in genuine surprise at that, as he turned a little so he could look at Kirk. ]

Wow. You two must've been pretty serious. [ Somehow Jim hadn't quite realized that before. ] I mean, I... that was my plan with Victor, too. Of course we didn't know we'd end up here along the way, but... well, as long as we get to be together. I'm not picky.

I was very serious. Not just because I liked him, but... his life wasn't a good one, back in his world. Even if he didn't want to be with me, I'd still offer. He deserved a better hand than he was dealt, and if I could help stack odds just a little in his favor, I wanted to.

_{[ His smile was sad, his heart wrenching his chest, squeezed tighter
with every word. ]}

I honestly don't know if Remy would choose to come with me. We haven't talked about it.

[ He knew that smile all too well. Finding one of Kirk's hands, he squeezed it tightly in his own, offering him an understanding look. ]

I see. And... I'm sorry.

[ That Kirk never got to make good on that promise, that Fenris left so unexpectedly.

He was curious now, though. He couldn't help asking. ] Would you want it? Would you want him to go with you?

_{[ Gently he squeezed back, grateful for the small bit of comfort.

He made a soft sound at the question. ]}

I think... I would. I certainly wouldn't mind. He's disappeared once before, you know, and it - it broke something in me. I was so happy when he came back. I would hate to lose him again, but back in his world, he's a hero too. He has powers.

I mean, if he asked me to go with him, I would honestly say no. I belong with the Enterprise.

[ Jim nodded, understanding that pain all too well. He'd felt very much the same when Bones had disappeared. Like something in him had just broken inside.

More than time, it took him meeting Victor, falling in love with him, and letting him close, for him to start to heal. Actually, in many ways Victor was the one healing him. ]

Just like he feels like he belongs elsewhere. [ It was an awful kind of pain, knowing they could stay together, but being aware that they couldn't possibly make that choice, not with a clear conscience. ]

Normally I'd tell you to talk to him, but... I get what you mean. Probably wouldn't help much. [ If anything it might make Remy feel trapped, as though pushed into a corner. ]

Maybe one day we will talk about it. It's not impossible, but I think both of us are just being... careful.

_{[ He touched the leather bracelet on his wrist. He looked at his twin
and his lips twitched. ]}

Guess I'm behind the curve on that one, compared to you.

[ He smiled softly, eyes falling to the bracelet around Kirk's wrist, and the fingers tracing it. ]

I love Victor. I want to spend the rest of my life with him. I... honestly don't know if I'd be willing to go back to his world with him, but when we talked about it, he just said he'd go back with me. So I've never had to give that any serious thought, thanks to him.

[ But he'd been happy in Riverview, and he was still happy here. He didn't feel that overwhelming urge to go back to his world, like he once had. He had a feeling that losing Victor would be too high a price to pay, were he forced to choose between the two. ]

_{[ He still felt it, the pull to go home. Even with having Remy here,
and once upon a time Fenris, and increasingly Kurt, he wanted to go home.
He wanted his ship, his family. If he could add Remy and Kurt and so many
others here to that, he would, in a heartbeat. But he knew, in his heart of
hearts, he would always choose to go back to the Enterprise. ]}

I just barely got the step of admitting out loud that I love Remy and it took us a ridiculously emotional moment in front of a magical tree to exchange these.

_{[ He held up his wrist. ]}

Baby steps, bro.

[ Jim chuckled softly and nodded. Helped that he knew exactly which tree Kirk was talking about, so no need to ask about that. ]

Different steps, even.

[ That was a good thing. Even love seemed to change them in different ways. But Kirk seemed to be happy, which in the end was all that mattered. Placing an arm around Kirk's shoulders, he leaned in to kiss his temple. ]

I'm happy for you. You two are cute together.

_{[ He huffed at the kiss to his temple and pouted at his twin, reaching
up and tapping the other's lips with the tip of his finger. ]}

Don't tease me.

_{[ But he smiled all the same after a beat. ]}

Heh, thanks. I'm sure Remy will be happy to know he has my twin's approval.

_{[ A wicked little grin appeared, though it's softened with amusement
too. ]}

Remy did appreciate our little video we made.

Excuse me, you know who you're talking to, right?

[ What he meant to say by that is that it was pointless to ask him not to tease. Of course he was going to, at any chance he got. ]

Oh, did he? [ His grin widened, eyes bright. ] Of course he did. I sure hope he handsomely rewarded you for that very generous gift.

_{[ Oh, and he did, which is what made it funny to say. Funnier, to see
his reaction. He knew Jim would tease and he would tease him in turn. Which
felt nice - nice to have that sort of easy relationship. ]}

Oh he did - quite a few times over. So thank you for that.

_{[ He leaned over and kissed his twin's cheek. ]}

Let me know if I can ever return the favor to you.

[ Jim laughed softly, trying very hard not to picture that in his head. Thanks, overactive brain, that was lovely. ]

You're most welcome. I got something out of it too, so...

[ He shrugged. What, he definitely counted making out with himself as getting something out of it. ]

Considering all your help and support since I got here, I'd say you more than returned that favor.

_{[ Jim waggled his brows at his twin, because, yeah he had enjoyed that
part of it too. The video had been a nice bonus out of it. ]}

I don’t really see that as doing a favor. It’s just doing what you do for family, isn’t it?

_{[ His smile softens and warms, leaning their shoulders together. How
could he not consider his other self family? There hadn’t even been a
question for him, personally. ]}

[ He ducked his head a little, surprised and touched both to hear that. Sure, when he thought about it he knew he felt the same way, but... it still felt so nice to hear it.

Leaning in, he wrapped an arm loosely around Kirk's shoulders, pulling him into a brief hug before he leaned away again. ]

Yeah. [ He smiled, cupping Kirk's face with a light pat. ] I'm really glad you're around, just so you know.

_{[ He reaches up, cupping Kirk’s hand, turning his head slightly and
nuzzling the palm. ]}

Well good. Otherwise this would be pretty awkward, huh?

[ He lets out a chuckle, shrugging a bit. ]

Maybe a little, yeah. Probably. But I'm glad we don't have to avoid each other or anything. Plus, it's always nice to know I get along with myself.

[ Means he has a healthy dose of self-love, the way he sees it. ]

_{[ He laughed, giving Kirk’s palm a kiss before letting it go. ]}

Anything you need, count on me. I mean, we shopped for lingerie together, I think that should be a given already.

[ Grinning, he nodded as he remember that particular adventure. ]

Oh yeah, we did. Now that was fun. We should go out shopping together again, next planet we get to visit.

Hopefully the next one does have good shopping.

_{[ He leered at his twin. ]}

Have to get some wedding shopping done, yeah? Pick out that something special for the big night?

_{[ Wink wink. ]}

[ Jim chuckled, but nodded promptly in agreement. ]

Oh yeah, absolutely. Although I did buy a few pretty interesting pieces before we left, so I have that if we can't find anything good on our next planet.

[ Granted, Victor's seen most of them, but Jim was still keeping a couple of sets a secret. ]

And you didn't show them off to me? Well now I'm hurt.

_{[ He lifted his nose into the air in a show of mock affront, though he
was actually curious. His other self had more experience with that sort of
thing than himself, and he was curious if their tastes in that area
differed and if so, how dramatically. ]}

[ Jim laughed, shaking his head, though he lifted a hand apologetically. ]

Alright, sorry. Let me make it up to you-- I can show you once we're back on our ships? I might even put a few of them on, if you want to see what they look like.
