Before you post your toplevel comment, please:

Heh, thanks. I might come and take a poke around. But... whatever you might see here, of the past Jim and I share - let him tell you in his own time, yeah? I don't know what he wants to share with you, after all, or how he feels about any of it.

I think he’s told me most things. It’s a little different to see them, though. And I think I want us to be together for some of them.

What about memories that are just yours?

Yes, I think you should be.

_{[ He titled his head. ]}

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure which are just mine. I know he and I share major memories, or I'm fairly sure from what we've discussed, but I'm not sure about the minutea of our lives. Certainly he won't have shared any that were from here, in the Fleet, at least.

That's what I mean: you've been here for years. Surely you have a few good memories by now.

Oh, I have plenty. The overall circumstances are unpleasant, but that doesn't mean all of my time here has been.

So if you think about it, what's the first good memory that comes to mind about the Fleet?

_{[ He pursed his lips and thought. ]}

We were at a planet not to long ago that I enjoyed - I was minor celebrity, sort of, for participating in motorcycle racing. But then the entire planetary system was like that - teams and colors and sports. It was all one big competition.

Hm. I'm not really into sports, but I would've liked seeing you and James race each other.

_{[ He laughed. ]}

You know? I think I would like that too. And it was nice to get to ride a bike again.

Maybe you'll get a chance to race against each other on the next planet. I admit I'm curious to see which of you would win.

I think no matter the outcome, my other self would win with you no matter what, yeah?

_{[ He waggled his brows. ]}

That's true. But I'd still like to watch you race.

Well next time we have the opportunity, I'll be sure to challenge him and invite you. Or vice versa, I suppose.

_{[ Kirk motioned around his room. ]}

_{[ He hooked his arm in Victor's and pulled him away from the science
station, walking him further onto the ship's deck. ]}

Well, this is where all the magic happens. Comms, nav, science - all of it. And that - is where I sit.

_{[ He motioned proudly to the Captain's chair. ]}

[He is reluctant to move away from the science station, but he still pays attention when Jim points out the rest of the consoles]

And what about engineering and med bay?

I can't take you there, unfortunately. This is as far as it all goes. But since this is kind of the heart of the ship for me, that makes sense.

Kind of a short tour, isn't it? [He's just teasing]

I just want to give you time to properly absorb her beauty is all.

Understandable. But I've already seen this part of the ship. James has shown it to me before.

Well don't go taking all the wind out of my sails, Victor. You've seen his ship, not mine.

_{[ He paused for a beat. ]}

Though, all right, they probably do look the same. I can't imagine why they would be terribly different.

Hm. Maybe not the ship itself, but being in here... It looks the same, but it doesn't feel as familiar as it would if you were James. It's hard to explain.
