dreams in digital
( for A-M characters )
Before you post your toplevel comment, please:
1. Check the first letter of your character's name as its written in our tags. A-M names comment here, and N-Z names go to the other post.
2. Make a note in your comment if anything especially triggering or graphic might show up in the Calibration. If you're not sure if something's worth noting or not, we suggest listing it anyway, just to err on the side of caution.
3. Put your character's name (it can be shortened or different from the tag, this time) in the subject of your comment. This will help visitors find you easily, and help us update the list below.
4. Post your comment! It's fine if everyone's Calibrations end up looking and reading very different from one another. As long as you're having fun and following our guidelines, you're good to go. :)
5. If you have any questions or concerns during Calibrations, you are welcome to send them towards the mod team at any time, as always.

It only worked because the particular beat and wavelength of the song was enough to break apart the connecting frequency. We got lucky - even luckier that Jaylah had managed to preserve it so we could use it.
[ They had been very lucky that particular day, and he would never forget it. ]
They're one of a kind - all of them.

[He nods, but his smile starts to drop a little.]
...So, about that first thing...

[ He took a breath. Ah. Yes, that thing. Well, he couldn't just ignore it now could he? Lance had seen it, and there wasn't any use deny it either. He took another sip of his (maybe real) coffee. ]
You mean the thing where I goaded Spock and he, rightfully, attempted to choke me out on the station over there?
[ He nodded to said station, even walking over a bit to it. ]
It's not the proudest moment of my career, I can tell you that. At the time, though, it was the only thing I could think to do. It was quick, inelegant, and cruel - but I made the choice because I couldn't let him drop us all into a trap. I wasn't even supposed to be on the ship. I was practically under court martial. But I had a plan - a plan I believed could save us, save Earth. But I needed to take the captain's chair, which Spock currently had. One of the few ways to force a captain from his chair is to show he is emotionally compromised - that is, unable to perform his duties.
And Spock had just lost his entire planet. Vulcan had been destroyed barely hours before - his entire species, all but annihilated, including his mother.
Like I said, I'm not proud of it. Of what I did. I'm lucky that he forgave me for it, later. That he's one of my best friends. But I made a choice - Spock's feelings, or another billion lives.
[ He touched the panel he had been thrust against - or at least the memory of it. ]
Turns out the gamble worked. We beat Nero and saved Earth.
