Mm... to be honest, I'm as surprised as you are. Nothing against you or anything, it just isn't my thing, usually.

[She lifts her shoulders in a shrug, trying to keep it casual, but it's kind of hard to at this point. It's a deeply personal subject in a deeply personal space, and she's not Taako. She's not as good at shutting her emotions off with people she actually cares about, and for whatever reason that very small circle now includes Haggar.]

... you had Taako to confide those personal things in, for all that time. It would be hard to do better than that. Or to want to, I... would imagine.

[And yet these were the circumstances, strangely enough.

She makes her way back toward the counter and Lup, as much as the curtained room had tempted. She had decided her priorities. Lup... might need a hand.]

Yeah, but even he learned that we couldn't go our entire lives forming only one single bond with each other and nobody else. We managed for a long time, sure, but... when the world got too big for us to handle alone, we had to depend on other people. Even with how he is now, he knows that. He's just more stubborn than me about admitting it.

[And he's scared, she knows. He's been left alone and abandoned for so long that he's always waiting for more people to leave him- that's what he believes, because it's all he's been left with. It's not his fault. But since she does remember the truth, she's making it her mission to continue building those bonds for both of their sakes. One day they're going to need it.]

Circumstances required you to make other allies. That itself would not be... uncommon for the situation you would have found yourselves in.

[But that wasn't exactly this circumstance, which was harder for her to define.]

Well, you know what they say- habits die hard. We're stubborn about it for way longer than is healthy.

[She shrugs. She's gotten used to it, over time, and has learned what to say to Taako when he's pushing things with varying success. Somehow they've gotten by.]

... Perhaps. Not without reason. Your experience with that bond provides you with a base to start with, when... seeking such things.

[Or to understand when it was lacking.]

Although our circumstances are perhaps... more unique.

Isn't every circumstance unique in one way or another? At least, everybody wants to feel like some kinda special snowflake.

[The broad generalizing of these topics can only go so far, with her. There's enough of a pause to try and figure out what "special snowflake" means in any context.]

... Perhaps. We can only speak for our individual circumstances, than to start comparing them to... others.

[Even if it's... odd to do so at all.]

Oh, sure. I would say "we're only human" but that's a phrase that doesn't apply to either of us, huh.

[She has no idea if Haggar counts as a proper elf or not but she suspects the latter. At the very least, she is definitely no more human than Lup is.]

Not if "human" is the key point of the phrase.

[She hadn't felt a need to clarify her race, and she hadn't really ever been asked directly to say otherwise.]

Ehhh, yeah. I always figured the key point was "mortal", or at least not infallible.

Then perhaps someday we can come up with a more applicable saying.

[There's a noticeable pause, a slight shift in her features.] One for "special snowflakes", like us.

[She laughs again, unable to really help herself. Something about those words out of Haggar's mouth makes it kind of magical.

She's not wrong, though.

As her laugh trails off, she sets aside her bowl and turns, leaning back against the counter.]

...So? Are you good, or do you wanna poke around some more?

[The urge was still there, of course, to poke at the items, to see what was resonating beyond the curtain.

But this choice was... better. She had a lot to take in, unexpectedly. Frankly the emotional residue from it was still... lingering. Not in a bad way, but it was strong.

More importantly, she thinks, it was... good, to hear Lup laugh.

Even if she could not quite define for herself what it meant to feel... welcomed into a confidence, when it was so clear that it had been entirely lacking from her life before.]

... I believe I have done enough "poking." But if you do not mind my company, I would prefer to linger here, until the time comes.

[And "chill". Or have another cookie. Whatever worked.]

[Lup is momentarily surprised by that, but as it passes she just smiles again and gestures around the room, unbothered by the request.]

Sure, why not? My house is your house, so get cozy and stay as long as you want.

[It's... kinda nice, the idea of having someone stick around for a while. Makes the room feel not quite so lonely.]
