( for N-Z characters )
Before you post your topcomment, please:
1. Check the first letter of your character's name as its written in our tags. A-M names go to the other post, and N-Z names comment here.
2. Make a note in your topcomment if anything especially triggering or graphic might show up in the Calibration. If you're not sure if something's worth noting or not, we suggest listing it anyway, just to err on the side of caution.
3. Put your character's name (it can be shortened or different from the tag, this time) in the subject of your comment. This will help visitors find you easily, and help us update the list below.
4. Post your comment! It's fine if everyone's Calibrations end up looking and reading very different from one another. As long as you're having fun and following our guidelines, you're good to go. :)
5. If you have any questions or concerns during Calibrations, you are welcome to send them towards the mod team at any time, as always.

You gave his life and death meaning. And that does mean something, to him and the world. You didn't kill him. Don't take the guilt away from his killer. It's not your guilt.
It's not all about you.
[He doesn't mean that in a cruel way, but as a statement. Evergreen's death is not Vash's fault. It's not wholly about Vash.]
He decided to leave. Yes, because you showed him something else. His choice. They killed him. Their choice.
Knives' sins aren't your fault, Vash.
no subject
[Luck and persistence wouldn't work forever after all.]
And some of Knives' sins are mine. I had so many chances to stop him, but I couldn't take the responsibility and ran away instead. He's killed so many people because of that. Because of me.
no subject
[he tries to touch Vash's hand, the real one.]
No. He made those choices, not you. He killed them, not you. Not stopping him is not the same as killing them. It doesn't carry the same weight.

[Touching this Vash brings up the thoughts in his mind. Which are linked to memories.
It brings up a time when Vash was much younger. Standing over a sleeping Knives, a large rock in his hands, that he holds above his head. He stands for a moment, arms shaking with the weight, but in the end he tosses the rock away.
The memory fades, but the feeling still stays. How many lives would now be alive if he had let the rock drop.]
Yes it does. I could have saved those lives if I had stopped him.
no subject
[The memory has weight, but Cole shakes his head and grasps the hand and holds on for grim life.]
You. Didn't. Kill. Them. It. Is. Not. Your. Fault. Not killing someone doesn't make you guilty of their sins, nor does it allow you to claim their victories and triumphs.

This time it's in a bank. Vash is his usual 'adult' self again. Speaking to a bank robber. The man is tying a piece of cloth to his bleeding head.]
Once they die has been cast. You can't take it back. [Vash stops his chuckling for a moment to look at the man. Not comprehending just yet what he was talking about.] You've rolled someone else's die. I hope you don't regret it.
[Vash laughs. No, he didn't think he would regret it. Then suddenly the memory changes. In a flash there's an angry woman punching him as hard as she can in his face. As another man dressed as a preacher stands in a doorway quietly.]
You might be satisfied saving people's lives lightheartedly like you do! But don't you realize there are people crying because of it!? If you hadn't saved him then there would have been people who didn't have to die and suffer! Like my mom-- like my mother too!
[The angry red head cuts away and it's just Vash and Cole once again.]
I threw their dice. So I have to live with the consequences of my actions.
no subject
No. She's asking you to pick and choose, who is worth saving and who isn't. And that's not you, not your place. You save everyone you can, whether they deserve it or not, because life is precious to you. Life is everything.
You can't second guess everything, because you don't know the future and you can't change the past. What is, is. What will be, you don't know.
All you can do is be you. You is beautiful.
no subject
As he speaks his words about how he can't know the future and that all life is precious; right at the beginning a song hummed by a woman can be heard. Although song or no, it seems like what Cole is saying is getting through to Vash.]
The ticket to the future is always blank. [A women's voice echo's along with Vash's.] And no one has the right to kill another.
[Yet then another memory starts. The room around Cole is shaking, alarms are blaring as a monotone voice tells the crew to get to the escape pods, lights flashing, and then there's pressure as a heavy door is crushing down. No matter how much Cole pushes the door won't stop closing.]
Don't go, Rem! Please! Come with us!
[A dark hair woman smiles down at Cole. Trying to look brave although she's terrified. She can't stop tears from streaming down her face.] It will be okay, Vash. Take care of, Knvies!
[The door shuts her away and seconds later there's the rushing feeling as the escape pod is shot off into space. Then Cole is back, holding onto Vash's hand.]
But I didn't take care of him as I should have. I turned my back instead.
no subject
You can't change it. You can't live for and in that moment. Do your best going forward, I know you do that. That's enough.
no subject
We have a right to hate this man!
[But the woman smiles and steps forward toward the man with a gun.]
No one has the right to kill another.
[The memory ends and Vash at least looks a little more up upbeat despite the memory getting more tense as it faded away.]
People make mistakes, but mistakes can be fixed and people can move on. [He gently smiles a bit more.] I won't give up.
no subject
Good. Not giving up is important. You must never give up. That's when you... despair.
no subject
[Vash smiles at Cole. He still looks tired, but ready to keep going forward.]
Thanks. For reminding of that. I just needed a little nap.
[Vash indicates towards the door again as a lot has happened since he pointed it out.] You can still leave anytime if you want, but you're also welcome to stay.
[After all he couldn't hide anything from Cole even if he wanted to.]
no subject
[Cole can stay and wander happily. But he's prepared to leave, now that Vash is in a bit of a better state.]
Do you want to show me anything?

[He thinks about it. He knows so much that's already here, it screams and echoes all the same.]
Would it help you?

Not unless you know a way to get everyone off the fleet and back to their homes.

I don't want to go back to Thedas. I don't really have anymore there than here.

That's okay. All you have is the time you have. That will be enough.
