( for N-Z characters )
Before you post your topcomment, please:
1. Check the first letter of your character's name as its written in our tags. A-M names go to the other post, and N-Z names comment here.
2. Make a note in your topcomment if anything especially triggering or graphic might show up in the Calibration. If you're not sure if something's worth noting or not, we suggest listing it anyway, just to err on the side of caution.
3. Put your character's name (it can be shortened or different from the tag, this time) in the subject of your comment. This will help visitors find you easily, and help us update the list below.
4. Post your comment! It's fine if everyone's Calibrations end up looking and reading very different from one another. As long as you're having fun and following our guidelines, you're good to go. :)
5. If you have any questions or concerns during Calibrations, you are welcome to send them towards the mod team at any time, as always.
Vash the Stampede
Turn to walk away from the town you'll find endless fields of green grass and a gentle blowing breeze until you find you've somehow walked back into a full circle to the town.
Should you enter the town there are people milling about. Most look happy and content. Touch them and a short memory will start. Otherwise they go about their day and ignore you. There are a few who will grumble about some Vash the Stampede guy and will also give you a brief memory and also ignore you.
There are a few buildings that have their doors opened as if they are welcoming you in. Feel free to explore. The walls of the town are littered with wanted posters. A man named Gasback. One for Brilliant Dynamites Neon. There's one for a group called the Nebraska Family. Another for Monev the Gale. There's a women named Dominique the Cyclopes. Someone by the name of Rai-Dei the Blade. One labeled for Zazi the Beast. But the one that has the highest bounty at sixty billion double dollars is one for Vash the Stampede. Strangely no picture. There are multiples of each poster hanging on the walls around town.
If you want to escape this room an exit needs to be found. Do you explore one of the buildings with their doors open? There are a few to choose from:
The Saloon
The Church
The Hotel
The Jail Cell
The Plant Facility (aka the lightbulb place)
Residential ones
Or are you the type that wish to break in? There may be things to explore in the darkness of the closed and locked buildings.
The goal is to find Vash the Stampede. He's hiding in one of these buildings.
Warnings: The unhappy people will have memories that will contain violence, death, and/or gore. The wanted posters are the same warning but depends on which character you choose; not all will be violent. Happy strangers have no warnings! Let me know if I should avoid anything and I can alter memories as needed even the bad ones. If your character chooses to enter one or more of the buildings please let me know if Trigun (anime) spoilers are okay or to be avoided. As that will change the memories and possible triggers in each building. Unlocked buildings will have a mix of good and bad memories.
Enter one of the locked buildings and be prepared for possible violence, body horror, destruction and death. There will be no avoiding a bad time in those places. Spoiler. Vash isn't in those anyway and thus they don't HAVE to be entered.

Nami can definitely spot the similarities between this place and the moon they've been visiting of late. It doesn't narrow down whose dream or memory this is until she finds the posters on the wall. And to be fair, at first she's just interested for purely financial reasons-- these people are worth money. A lot of money. They're not pirates (unless they're land pirates, which is a possibility maybe), but outlaws nevertheless. And then she sees the poster for Vash.]
Huh. So this is yours.
[And she rips it down from the wall.]

Alright! All your cash and loot on the tables and your heads down and nobody gets hurt! [A tall man with a yellow Mohawk and red shirt holds a long pistol at the eaters.] As my name is Vash the Stampede and if you don't want this whole town to end up like the lost city of July you'll do as I say!
[Very quickly wallets, loose change, and anything valuable is thrown onto the tables. With hushed mutterings of agreement that if all they lose is their money they all will get off lucky. One of the people throwing out his wallet is a broomhead man Nami should recognize.
The thug and his gang go around and collect the loot. Completely ignoring Nami. Although "Vash" is feeling a bit trigger happy and spots and older man sitting on his own and shaking like a leaf. He picks up the man's cash and waves it at him.] You holding out on me old man? [The man sputters and swears it's all that he has as the fake hauls him to his feet.] Let's just see about that. [He tosses the elderly man to the ground and aims his pistol.] Everyone take note and be sure you have everything on the table or you'll end up like this man here.
[Kids start crying as the adults look away, but before the man can pull the trigger there's suddenly movement as Vash skids his chair back.] Oh hey! Now I know where I heard that name! You're that famous outlaw guy, right?
[Now everyone has their guns trained on Vash as he smiles at their leader.] I've always wanted to meet a celebrity! Can I get your autograph?
[The man can't believe what he's hearing.] Boy, you've been in the sun too long. Sit down before I shoot you.
[Vash ignores him. Chatting away as he pulls out a pen and grabs a napkin.] It just took me awhile! I always thought Vash the Stampede would be a lot taller.
[The old man crawls away in a panic while the attention is off him.] Do you have a death wish you idiot?
You see, I also thought he'd be a lot more handsome too.
[Now the man actually looks surprised.] Wait-- what?
Because I'm pretty sure Vash would have a full head of hair. [The rest of the victims please for Vash to stop.] Actually, now that I think about it; you're way too ugly to be him. Never mind the autograph.
[Infuriated the man marches up so his gun is nearly point blank to Vash's head.] That's it! This whole town is dead thanks to you! But you're not going to be around to see it.
[People scream as the outlaw fires, but too fast for nearly anyone to keep track Vash dodges out of the way. Yanking the man's arm as he does and dislodging the weapon. Now the fake had his own weapon pointed in his face.] And Vash the Stampede wouldn't waste time robbing a nice place like this, get it?
[And suddenly he does. They all do as the place goes completely silent. Yet Vash keeps smiling peacefully.] Now, if you and your friends would be so kind as to drop all your weapons and your money. These poor owners are going to have to fix that bullet hole you just placed in their wall after all! Then I think you should go. [No one moves.] Now.
[The men scramble to drop everything quickly. Tossing everything to the ground and shoving past each other to get out of the place. Vash sighs at cowardly display as he lowers the gun to let the liar run crying from the restaurant.] Jeez, so much for strong friendships. [He smiles at the patrons still cowering at their tables.] It's alright, really! Please go back to enjoying the great food they have here! [At first no one moves. Too frightened.
So Vash chuckles, leaving the money he had already laid on the table for the bandits to take, picks up what remains of his sandwich and heads for the door.] Thanks for the sandwich! It's super tasty! But I think I'll take it to go now! Everyone have a good day!
[Still no one moves until after Vash leaves. The memory coming to an end.
Of course. There are other posters with the name Vash on it around town if Nami really wants to try her luck again with that one.]
no subject
....well, her experience with Kirito taught her you can't interfere with memories, so Nami just kind of slides down a bit in her seat to rest her chin in her hands and watch the show, eyebrows climbing higher as Vash pulls the most idiotic act she's seen in weeks. Interesting. She can't help smirking a little, because uh. You kind of remind her of her captain.
Only smarter. By far.
She doesn't feel in any danger here, so once the memory comes to an end, she stares at the wanted posters again. And starts to ask the townspeople if they've seen an idiot with hair like a broom.]
no subject
Vash with a travel pack hanging off his back stops on his way out of a crumbling and destroyed town where the sheriff Nami just tried to speak to is standing.] Hey, thanks sheriff. For letting me go like this! [Vash smiles as he rubs at the back of his neck. Apparently feeling a bit embarrassed about something that has just happened.]
I'm only doing it because I don't want you in my town. And I don't want your thanks. I just want you to get the hell out.
[Vash stares back at the sheriff as he speaks. The embarrassed smile falling away for a moment as he listens. Easily enough his usual peaceful smile is back. After all, this was nothing the outlaw hadn't heard before.] Yeah, I guess I will.
[The memory stops as Vash readjusts the pack over his shoulder and heads out into the empty desert landscape. The sheriff speaking to Nami as if the memory had never played out to begin with.]
Don't tell me you want to find Vash the Stampede. That guy is nothing but trouble. Everyone would be better off if he just vanished. [Yet his eyes flick towards the Plant facility.] I think I saw him further into town.
no subject
What's so dangerous about him? [She doesn't really expect an answer-- her feet are already taking her towards the plant, after all.]
TW: Murder
Instead of the green town now it's a different one. In fact, it looks like the town from the last vision, only less destroyed. There's a fountain where a group of children are playing with a short and very tall woman. They're laughing and kicking a ball around. Vash is frozen in place staring off towards the a brown bag sitting on a bench nearby with a grim look on his face.
The happy laughter is sharply interrupted when a woman's scream pierces the air. Everyone turns to look at her, including Vash to see what is wrong.] Someone! Help me! [The woman runs and throws herself at a group of men. They apparently know this woman. Commenting that it's the shoemaker's wife.] Murder! My husband. He can't talk anymore! My husband!
[Everyone hurries towards the woman, except Vash, who gasps in horror and stares at the bag that is slowly turning red at the bottom. It's not long after that the sheriff comes and peeks inside the bag. His face turns white as he quickly shuts the bag and turns back towards Vash.]
You're coming with me. I have questions that need some answers. [The memory fades away as Vash lets himself be arrested without any protest. Nami will be back in the non desert city once again. The grim looking sheriff speaking as if no interruption or passing of time had just happened.]
He's nothing but trouble. People around him, they wind up dead. Don't say I didn't warn you, Missy. That bounty ain't worth it.
no subject
She needs out and that means she needs to talk to Vash. Directly. She can do without creepy bleeding bag memories, thanks very much.]
no subject
And as long as she doesn't touch or interact with anyone else then she'll be memory free.
Of course, not all of Vash's memories are bad. There certainly a lot of very happy people that fill this town that she may brush shoulders against as she makes her way to the Plant facility.
There's also a Saloon she'll be passing by if she needs a drink after that. Or any of the other places with their doors open to her should she feel like exploring.
If not the big bulbs loom in the distance and only grow bigger until she's right at their base. The door is open, but it does look a bit darker than the other places she's see with open doors on the inside. Does she still wish to enter?]

Hello. I'm here to see Vash. I won't hurt anything, I promise.
[And then he continues inside.]
Vash? It's all right, it's Cole.
no subject
As Cole travels deep inside there are a few items he'll pass buy. Two six barrel revolvers. One silver and the other black. A potted geranium. A handful of long white feathers here and there. A tipped over bottle of whiskey that was leaking onto the floor. A few large manual looking books that only say: Project SEEDS on their covers.
If he avoids touching any of these he'll eventually find himself inside the room that houses the Plants themselves. The door to this room is also opened as if welcoming him inside.]
no subject
Thank you.
[To every door that lets him through without him having to coax it as he keeps going deeper.]
no subject
Cole, a being who doesn't communicate the way normal humans do will easily pick up on the emotions and feelings that the Plant can usually only share with her sisters and brothers.
Her brother sleeps. Won't Cole please help her wake her lazy brother?
As just past these Plants is a locked door marked Exit.]
no subject
He's here to find Vash. He'll wake him up if he can, but sometimes people don't want to wake up. He needs his rest sometimes, because Vash has a hard life.
But he heads to the last core and presses his hands and brow to the glass, pushing his awareness at Vash.]
no subject
After all, the Plant Cole was reaching out towards wasn't really herself. But another memory of one of his sisters. She can only shows what Vash sees and feels in the end. But it's the memory he has of others that shapes her and his sisters would find him to be very lazy in a time like this.
There will be many ways to wake Vash and Cole finds one right away. The protective core begins to shift and move as Vash starts to wake. Slowly at first then more quickly as finally the outlaw snaps to attention.
Nimbly Vash jumps down from the center core to look at Cole through the glass.] It's dangerous around here. You shouldn't be here. [I'm dangerous hangs in the air and the feeling basically radiates from Vash. Yet Vash isn't asking Cole to leave either.
There's a click as the exit unlocks.]
no subject
Hello. You were sleeping.
I'm dangerous too. It's all right.
no subject
I was tired. [He exits the safety of the glass, it melting around him and once he steps out it reforms again into solid glass.] And it can be safer for others. If I stay here and quiet. I don't want anyone else to get hurt. [It remains unsaid, but he doesn't want to be alone either. It's why all the doors are unlocked and why he won't sleep forever.] If you were looking the way out. I can show you the way.
[As for Cole being dangerous as well; he hasn't learned enough of him just yet to make a full decision. Vash doesn't doubt that Cole has the power to be dangerous so he won't deny it, but he won't confirm it at this point either.] You are very considerate. I don't feel that I'm in danger around you. [Unsettled at times? Yes. In danger. No.]

Saloon
He makes a mental note to check out the lightbulb later, though. WEIRD. ]
no subject
The other tables are occupied by gruff looking men sit around various other tables. Although there are spare seats if Sokka wants to make friends. For now they seem to be ignoring Sokka. They're also ignoring a man with curly hair who's sitting by himself with a pile of empty bottles around him, but at least that guy is smiling and looking friendly with plenty of empty seats around him.
The bar-woman is behind the counter. She's shorter with dark hair and a green hat pulled onto her head. She's serving the men at the counter and no one is giving her any problems. It may be the antique gun mounted behind the counter, or more likely she's just not someone you want to get on their bad side of.
Sokka is left alone to make his own decision. To sit at one of the empty tables. To start eating the food that's already left out. Join on of the tables that already have people at them. Pull up to the bar. Check out stuff on the wall.
Or you know... talk to one of the prettily dressed up women who seems to be trying to make nice with the richest looking people in the bar. His choice!
no subject
Uh. Is this anyone's? No? I'm just gonna- yeah.
[He'll sit himself down and help himself to a hamburger. ]
no subject
Now there are people sitting around him. One clearly is Vash in his trademark red coat and broom styled hair. Sitting across from him is a man with short dark hair and wearing a dark blue, almost black, suit and pants with little crosses on the cuff-links. The front open halfway down his chest and color a bit crumpled. The two men sit glaring at each other as they're quickly stuffing burger after burger into their mouths from a large pile in front of them.
A very tall woman with long brown hair laughs and claps her hands as she sits with them watching the two eat as fast as they can. Her shorter companion also watching the spectacle seems much less impressed. Sitting with her arms folded in front of her with a sigh.] Seriously, you two are just big children. You're going to end up getting sick or choking. What's the point?
[Vash and his male friend don't seem to be listening. Simply stuffing more and more food into their faces sending death glares at each other as they do. As the tall girl laughs.] I dunno, Meryl! It looks like they're having a great time! Come on, Mr. Vash! You can do it, Mr. Priest!
[They're nearly out of hamburgers now. In the midst of everything the other man moves a glass of water sitting near Vash out of his reach. So when Vash suddenly does start chocking he reaches for the water and finds it missing. Coughing and spitting he pounds at his chest as Meryl throws her hands up.] See! I told you!
[The priest grins and grabs the last burger and stands up from his chair.] HA! Tab's on you now, pal.
[Vash grabs at the water and is able to finally clear his throat. He stands and yanks the last burger out of the man's hand.] No way, Wolfwood! You cheated!
[Wolfwood grabs the burger back again.] Hey, not my fault you're not observant enough to play the game.
[And Vash again snatches back the hamburger.] I could have died! Just what kind of preacher man are you, anyway?
[Wolfwood once more holds the hamburger. Meryl has given up and sighs into her drink as the other woman laughs at the boy's antics.] One who doesn't have to pay this bar tab. That is of course you're backing out of the bet because then I'll just turn you in to get this and all my future meals paid for.
[Vash balks at whatever Wolfwood is suggesting.] That's not funny. [Vash makes a wild grab for the burger again, but this time it disappears into the other man's mouth. He smirks around his mouthful of food at Vash.] Come on, then! Best five out of seven! We haven't even had desert yet!
[Meryl groans out loud as her friend cheers the two on. Wolfwood swallows his mouthful.] Alright then, Vash. You're on! But get ready to pay out because after I beat you on this next one that's it.
[The memory fades out with the two smirking at each other and calling for more food. Leaving Sokka to the food that remains at the table. Will he keep eating? Perhaps that was the only one. Or maybe he's enjoying the dinner and a show!]
no subject
Well. That was something. He's still happily chewing his burger as the scene fades.]
Credit where it's due, that was pretty intense.
[Finishing off his feast, he gets up and starts walking around again, eventually settling on joining that curly haired guy.]
Hey.
no subject
The man's table is covered in either empty or half drank bottles of alcohol, yet he's drinking water.] Hm? [As the man looks up Sokka will suddenly find himself standing outside. Just walking past a different Saloon when his head will turn towards the sound of the door slamming slamming open and an angry voice shouting at someone to get out.
Before Sokka has time to see for sure who it is there's the flash of yellow of a jacket which is slamming into his back. Sokka falls over head over heels into a food tough for a pack animal.
And then poof. Back into his own body.]
Can I help you with something, brother?
no subject
Uh...I honestly do not know.
no subject
Hey old woman! When's my food coming!
[The woman behind the bar scoffs.] When it's done, Frank, but call me an old woman one more time and it's never coming out.
(no subject)
