( for N-Z characters )
Before you post your topcomment, please:
1. Check the first letter of your character's name as its written in our tags. A-M names go to the other post, and N-Z names comment here.
2. Make a note in your topcomment if anything especially triggering or graphic might show up in the Calibration. If you're not sure if something's worth noting or not, we suggest listing it anyway, just to err on the side of caution.
3. Put your character's name (it can be shortened or different from the tag, this time) in the subject of your comment. This will help visitors find you easily, and help us update the list below.
4. Post your comment! It's fine if everyone's Calibrations end up looking and reading very different from one another. As long as you're having fun and following our guidelines, you're good to go. :)
5. If you have any questions or concerns during Calibrations, you are welcome to send them towards the mod team at any time, as always.
Nami
You're on a pirate ship.
It's not very traditional; the foredeck has a green lawn, for example, with trees and even a swing set. Obviously this is a very terrifying group of pirates. Further back there's a row of mikan trees, carefully potted in burlap sacks and in amazingly good condition for the salty conditions they're found in. Two of the mikan have fallen to the ground; one of them is squashed flat, as if by a heavy boot. Despite that, there is cheerful humming coming from within, though nobody's readily visible. If you've met Nami by now, the humming will at least be familiar.
There are rooms about the ship; a map room. A trapdoor down into the hold. Feel free to explore; the environment may change oddly as you go. There's laughter on the wind and shadows playing across the walls as if figures are sprinting past, but the ship is deserted.
There's miles and miles of ocean around, faintly choppy but calm enough. Not a cloud in sight-- though every now and then, something huge breaks the surface on the horizon. We... don't recommend jumping in. Ever.]
((ooc: warnings for death of others, child abuse, and self mutilation, depending on what you touch and where you go. Yay? If you'd rather avoid any of these let me know and I'll steer you around them.))

Nami? I, uh, don't know what I'm finding?

Shawn's not sure where he expected to find himself, but a ship on the ocean sure wasn't it. Once he gets himself oriented (because dangit, he's never exactly been on a ship before), he starts wandering back towards the mikan trees.
He recognizes the humming, but there's no way... is there?] Nami?
[Maybe he should turn back. Though as he glances at the ocean around him, he's suddenly deciding again it. It's not like he can swim back to shore.]
no subject
Back here! [Don't mind the hand just appearing from behind a tree, waving him over.] Don't step on any of my fruit.
[If he heads that way, it's a mite cooler amongst the trees. Nami is standing on tiptoes to pluck the ripe fruit from the top branches, a bucket full of mikan already at her feet. Her hair might be a little different.]
no subject
So when he sees Nami, he waves in return.] Hey! I know you said not to step on it, but do you need any help?

Perfectly harmless, nothing to fear. :D
...no seriously, it won't hurt. But it will rain on him in about three seconds. Heavily.]
no subject
Until he gets rained on, that is. It might not hurt, but it comes with a startling chill, and he flails his arms at it until it dissipates. He's like a blue wet cat now.]
H-hey, what's the big idea?! [Sure, that may be a natural phenomenon, but he's known Storm long enough to know a personalized raincloud when it's deployed against him. So he looks around quickly to try and identify the source.]

so, as soon as he realizes exactly where he is and feels the deck swaying under his feet, he makes a pathetic, startled noise and clings close to the nearest solid object he can.
if there's no one around, he might be panicking by himself for a little while.]

...what was that big thing that just jumped out of the water? Maybe he'll just take a step or two away from the rail now.
The outlaw wanders around the deck. Finding he likes the idea of a ship somehow having a green lawn. It's nice. He's so relaxed that he sits himself on the swing and kicks his legs out a bit. Lounging and stretching for awhile.
He picks up the sound of the humming and turns his head towards where it's coming from.] Hello? Is someone else here?
no subject
It's a peaceful memory, and obviously a happy one, and it fades quickly.
When he calls out, the humming comes to an abrupt stop, and Nami herself pokes her head out from the trees.]
You were expecting someone else?
no subject
Oh. [He's not TOO surprised to see Nami. It had sounded like her, but to be honest, he wasn't sure what to expect after suddenly waking up on a ship.] No, I guess I wasn't. Hey there!

[. . . The ocean, she recognizes momentarily, when the scent of salt smacks her in the face and she has to lean on the railing, dizzy from the glare off the waves.]
[Borogravia, of course, is landlocked; Überwald is, too. Which means that, while she's heard stories, Mal has never seen the sea. This is all new for her, and while the information presented by new things is entrancing as always, the sensory input is a little bit overwhelming. Despite her impatience to explore, she has to take the time to orient herself, to get used to the rocking of the ship on the water, the distant sounds of chattering and laughter.]
[The lawn's grounding, at least. Trees are trees wherever you go, and so, once she's got her bearings a bit, she crosses the deck to examine them, running her fingers along the trunks curiously.]
no subject
"Nami! What's with those wounds?"
Some distance in the opposite direction from the cottage, two girls are hunkered down in the dirt, maybe fourteen and twelve, the younger bruised and battered-- but despite that, she's grinning widely under her matted orange hair.
"I messed up a little... but look! With this, I now have one million beri!"
"Enough about that! We need to treat your injuries."
"But there's still a long way to go-- I still need 99 million beri more--"]
Can I help you?
[Memory fades, and Mal is back on the ship, with a girl glancing at her curiously.] We haven't met. Have we?
no subject
[Anyway. She doesn't even know if they're sisters at all.]
[There's still a long way to go.]
[She tips her head sideways at the girl regarding her, and the look she gives is friendly but a touch too sharp, and faintly knowing.]
No, we haven't. Is this your ship?

A pirate ship? Really? Man, Clay wants to laugh for reasons.
Instead, once he's got a good balance, he'll let go and actually move to explore. There doesn't seem to be anyone around... except for the humming. And he could've sworn he saw a shadow run by on one of the walls, and that's not creepy at all, no sir.]
Uh... hello?
[He's pretty interested in seeing how a lawn can grow on a ship with the salty air and everything, so he'll be checking that out as he calls out. Huh, looks kind of fun, with the swing set and everything.]
no subject
[It's an immediate callback from the trees, but he's got plenty of time to investigate the lawn. It's about as much a mystery as the healthy-looking fruit trees out here on the ocean, but clearly the pirates have some way of looking after it, because it doesn't seem damaged at all, beyond standard wear and tear of a bunch of people crossing it on occasion.
The swing sways a little as the ship does, made of wood and showing signs of a few repair jobs. There's footsteps on the small handful of stairs between the lawn and the trees, and a girl with orange hair appears lugging a basket of orange fruit. She's... surprised, at the least. Not to mention a little suspicious.]
...you're new. Are you meant to be here?
