Before you post your topcomment, please:
1. Check the first letter of your character's name as its written in our tags. A-M names go to the other post, and N-Z names comment here.
2. Make a note in your topcomment if anything especially triggering or graphic might show up in the Calibration. If you're not sure if something's worth noting or not, we suggest listing it anyway, just to err on the side of caution.
3. Put your character's name (it can be shortened or different from the tag, this time) in the subject of your comment. This will help visitors find you easily, and help us update the list below.
4. Post your comment! It's fine if everyone's Calibrations end up looking and reading very different from one another. As long as you're having fun and following our guidelines, you're good to go. :)
5. If you have any questions or concerns during Calibrations, you are welcome to send them towards the mod team at any time, as always.

Which one will he unpack first?]

[He's so going for the cookbook. Maybe it'll have pictures- that'd be way better than porn to him. So without thinking, he's picking up that cookbook to look at it.]
incoming tl;dr!
She speaks first, "Stefan? What are you doing here?"
"Dinner," Stefan says, as if it's the most natural thing in the world. Her kid brother had hinted to the girl's favorite recipe, and, "I happen to be a good cook. Italian roots demand it."
"I don't know what you're trying to accomplish," she says as she approaches him.
"You want to know me, right? Well, I figure if you're going to dump me, Elena, you should at least, um, know who you're dumping."
(And well, he figures he should explain the real story about him and his dead ex-girlfriend Katherine, so he sets the record straight then and there: he misses Katherine, but he's not crippled by her loss, and his... relationship with her was complicated, to put it bluntly.)
He must've hit the right notes concerning Katherine, because soon enough, they're making dinner together, rather than her just idly watching like a bystander. (Chopping up garlic together, in fact!)
Stefan's talking more about himself, rapid-fire, "I'm an avid reader, a huge Fitzgerald fan... but I'm no snob. I love some good Grisham. I think "Seinfeld" is the best American television show for the past 50 years, but "I Love Lucy" is all-time. "The loving cup" episode was the best, I think. Huge Scorsese fan. I can watch "Taxi Driver" over and over again. ... As far as music, it's pretty much across the board. Um, Dylan, Hendrix, Patsy, Willie. A little Kanye. You know what? I even like that one Miley song."
Elena smirks at him, with that yeah right expression on her face. (Even in his memory, Stefan knows he can't fool anyone.)
"I didn't say anything.," Elena protests, upon seeing his face. "This is for the garlic bread, right? Because I'm not eating garlic unless you agree to, too."
"Are you kidding? I love garlic--"
At that moment, Elena cuts her finger on the knife. "Ow!"
"You okay? Uh..."
Elena nods, heading to the sink to wash her hand. As she looks in the reflection of the window, she can see something subtly shift in Stefan's reflection--
"Your face..."
Of course she'd notice his face - in this memory, Stefan's staring in Allen's general direction, with his true face fully exposed. "I think I've got something in my eye," he forces himself to say, because his heart's pounding way too fast. She can't find out. Not here. Not now.
"Stefan? Stefan! Hey, I think that my paranoia has turned into full-blown hallucinations."
Finally regaining his normal face, Stefan turns to face her as if nothing had ever happened. "It's part of your charm."
Although he's hesitating, because god he can't control himself right now, it's Elena who kisses him first - and as the memory fades back into the bedroom, Stefan's expression is pretty somber. This wasn't how he planned on revealing his true face, but it was there, plain as day.]

[But he finds himself in this kitchen, watching the scene unfold. The girl...he thinks he's seen her face around the fleet, but he's never spoken to her. Stefan hasn't mentioned her either. And the more he watches...the more things seem off. Allen was more observant than people gave him credit for, it was how he did so well in cards. The further the memory goes, even if it's a sweet one, the more it seems to make him feel uncomfortable. This just seems...off, to him.]
[Honestly? When she cuts her hand, he's only mildly surprised to see Stefan's face change. Stefan being a vampire had only been a guess to him, but he guesses he was right all along...still. He still finds himself bothered by this memory]
[After it all finishes, he's back in the room. He's quiet for a long moment as he tries to think of what to say to Stefan's somber expression. Finally, he figures out how to phrase what's bothering him the most]
....Italian roots?
I thought you said you were from Jordan.
no subject
My mom's whole family's from Jordan, but my dad's part Italian. Which kinda explains the last name Alesci.
[Stefan's not stupid, though, so he moves closer and gestures towards the label on the box, specifically at the name Salvatore.]
Truth is, I've got two sets of memories in my head. Every single box in here with the name "Salvatore" belongs to the last guy who lived here, and I'm kind of a pack rat. I'd like to keep everything, but realistically? That's not possible.
[So, Allen...
> Is this memory worth keeping?]
no subject
[But then...he keeps talking. About two sets of memories in his head. About the last guy who lived here before. About being unable to to keep everything from both sets of memories]
[And then in his head: Is this memory worth keeping?]
[He freezes. The cookbook stays in his hand, fingers tightening around it like a vice. There is a feeling of cold dread growing in his stomach, it's all too familiar. All too familiar]
...What the hell are you talking about, Stefan?
no subject
[He runs a hand through his hair, his muscles tensing as he looks up at his now-frozen friend. Crap, he'd said the wrong thing, and Allen's gonna hate him forever, and maybe... maybe he shouldn't have asked his friend to help him unpack.
It's too late to take it back now, but Stefan's voice grows very small, and timid:] That's why I never told you about Elena, even though she's been on the Fleet this whole time. She loved my past life, and...
["I don't measure up to him."] And I figured, it was something I'd deal with on my own.

[...]
[He'll step over to Stefan, so he's facing directly in front of him. His expression makes it very clear he's unhappy about this, and his tone is rather firm as well, though not angry. He still holds onto the cookbook, uncertain of what will happen if he lets it go]
Stefan Salvatore Alesci.
You can't have other people decide who you should be. Not me, not Alex, not even Elena. It's not our right to make that judgement, nor is it our burden.
Only you can decide of who you are. Do you understand?
no subject
Yeah. It's... kind of what I've been dealing with, these past two years.
If I really want to just be Alesci, I can, but then I give up everything that Salvatore cared for. His friends, his family, his powers, hell, even his ring. [Stefan holds up his lapis lazuli ring, letting it shine a little in the natural sunlight.]
I can't do that to him, but I also can't... give Alesci up either.
no subject
[He looks directly in Stefan's eyes as he speaks slowly. His accent is heavy, and it's clearly from how carefully he speaks this is not a language he's fluent in, but-]
لا حول ولا قوة إلا بالله.
[He then switches back to English, because yeah, his Arabic is pretty limited and rusty. He can only hope that proverb means what he thinks it means. It's been awhile since he's been in an Arabic speaking country, but those words spoken during tragedies still stick in his memories. Exorcists see a lot of those, after all. ]
Stefan....
Do you really think He would have you remember both Alesci and Salvatore, just to make you choose entirely one over the other? Do you think that's the choice He expects you to make, no matter how you feel?
God gave us free will, Stefan. Some things will always be outside our control, and some obstacles will always come unexpectedly and change our course. But in the end, He gave us the power to make our own paths. Being a vampire or a reincarnation doesn't change that gift He gave to humanity, it's still in you.
So...there's no saying you have to choose between Alesci and Salvatore if you can't. You could choose that way if you want, but I don't think He's saying you must. If you can't choose between Salvatore and Alesci to serve as your path's waymarkers, if both of them are precious to you...
Then find a way to make a path out of both of them. A path of your making.
[He'll offer a smile and hold out the cookbook with his left hand for Stefan to take, if he'd like] I know you can do it.
no subject
Of course. There is no God but Allah, and God wouldn't have given him such a difficult choice if He didn't think Stefan could handle it. A path with both of them? A shared, merged identity that could possibly take the best of both men - wouldn't that be the ideal?
He's not sure if he can live up to that expectation, especially now, when Elena and Alex and a whole bunch of people are expecting one or the other. So when he sees that cookbook, Stefan knows that he should logically take it.
It takes him a second, but he nods, accepting the cookbook. It's gone in a burst of light, re-appearing on the bookshelf against the wall of the room.
> We'll keep this memory.]
You've got too much faith in me, Allen, you know that?
[He laughs, clearly teasing as he focuses his attention to the rest of the box.] But... thank you. If I can walk the straight path with both of them, then I'll try my best to make that happen.
no subject
[He reaches up and puts a friendly hand on his shoulder]
I don't know, I think I have just enough.
[It takes a lot after all, to lead the kind of life Stefan does. He has a lot of hope that Stefan will find a way to be happy with his situation.]
