[ on the night of the 28th, the lecture hall will open its gates though it'll look remarkably different. Winn and Cisco would have decorated the corridors leading to it with Jack-o'-lanterns made from the pumpkins gathered at the little patch on the planet. The hall itself will be similarly decorated, along with other traditional scary Halloween decorations made from paper and fabric ( don't ruin the little paper spiders, they took hours to make! ). There will be music from various times of Earth-1 and Earth-3, so don't be surprised to find Lady Gaga playing alongside the Spice Girls! Feel free to make requests or otherwise, just show your skills on the dance floor!

There will be a bar run by Nami offering free sodas, though you'll have to pay for your own alcohol ( remember, don't drink and fly! ). Alongside the bar, characters will find a few tables offering candy from Earth-1 won by Cisco at the game room with a little sign reading TAKE ONE, LEAVE SOME FOR OTHERS and quite a lot of space chips and protein dips as well as various candy from all over the different planets ( cleverly hoarded by Winn! ) and a large selection of pumpkin pies and pumpkin treats. Characters will also find a line leading to Cisco's trusty ice cream machine, though it'll only offer peanut butter flavored sorbet.

At the corner of the hall there will be a karaoke machine with a little sign-up sheet. Characters could sign up solo or in groups and list the song they'd like to sing. Keep in mind though, the entire hall will be able to hear your rendition of Sexy and I Know it!

Adventure-seeking characters will be able to follow signs reading HAUNTED HOUSE and reach a large hall that was turned into a maze by large cardboard blocks painted black or covered by dark fabrics. Making it out of the maze won't be too hard and the maze itself won't be too frightening but will be mildly startling. It'll include some nifty engineered animatronics of witches, scarecrows, scary clowns and skeletons as well as holograms of ghosts! The song featured in the invitation will also be heard here, on repeat. It's a good break from the dancing and for some private conversations and moments.

Remember, costume are mandatory! you don't want to be caught by tonight's pumpkin kings, do you? ]

And he certainly had the legs for it. At the least he would hope people would get a kick out of it. ]}

If she had a heart it would probably be beating faster, which leads to her wandering over in all her currently snake-headed glory seemingly wearing nothing but a modesty-preserving layer of thick reptilian scales.]

I love that costume, particularly the red underwear. [She's given her voice an East European accent for added exoticism, and it's full of amusement as she speaks.]

[Adalwolfe looks like a complete nerd grooving on the sidelines in his dragon costume but the music isn't like anything he's used to from home and he has a few drinks in him, and he's a dragon so it's no wonder that he doesn't care how he looks and instead readily starts dancing with Kirk when he sidles up, apparently in the costume of a pantsless member of the Inquisition command.]

[Some time during the night when he had spotted a chance to catch Kirk more alone and not preoccupied with anyone else, Remy slid his way up beside him, careful to keep as quiet and unnoticed as possible. Slipping an arm around his waist and moving in to quietly speak against his ear, Remy grinned as he spoke, a flash of fake fangs covering his teeth and completing his vampire outfit. Not that he was expecting everyone to recognize the character from Hellsing, but once he had spotted the hat and coat he had to use that costume.]

Ya know, I was plannin' to put m' fangs to work on that neck of ya's, but gotta say, those legs, mon Dieu, got me real distracted.

[ Maglor is still very confused as to why Beverley insisted that he had to wear this outfit in particular, but he's here, and staring in some bemusement at the variety of costumes around. The bar is a nice, safe place to keep his back against so he can watch everything without being ambushed. ]

[Clay was at a loss for what to wear at first. Every Halloween back at home, he'd always been an astronaut, without fail. He dressed as something he wanted to be, something he yearned for.

But now he is an astronaut! In space! So now what's he supposed to dress up as? He could be an astronaut again, he has the suit for it, but that's suit's kind of very heavy and not something he wants to lug around for long.

Thankfully, his boyfriend is very good at face painting and makeup.

So Clay shows up looking like he's made of stars and nebulae, the paint fading as to black as it nears his dark clothing, just so that the paint won't stain them too much. There's even some paint on his hands, mostly in spots that won't be rubbed or wiped onto something. There's even some glitter in his hair, making it look like a starry sky, though that means there'll probably be glitter on the floor as he moves around.

He looks quite happy to be this way, though he's not used to wearing paint or makeup at all. So as time goes on, he'll have a few smudge marks on his face, and especially so by the end of the party.

Though Clay's outwardly an outgoing guy and loves to be with people, he does have some wallflower tendencies that he'll never get rid of. He remains a bit away from the action as a result; he's not much of a singer, not much of a dancer, and he really doesn't want to try the haunted house, so he'll just. Drift instead, greeting and talking with everyone he knows - or not!]

[Belthazar recognizes Clay and goes over to him, though he approaches shyly because he still doesn't know the man that well. He's nursing a soda and a plate of various snacks, as well as a couple of macarons he brought in himself.]

[Belth isn't really one for parties, but it's not as if he's celebrated Hallow's End in a while and-- yeah, he's curious. After deliberating on a costume for basically hours, he ends up going as a ninja and using illusion magic for most of the finer details. The scarf is a couple sizes too big but it seems to move with a life of its own. He does not hide his long thin ears or the glowing green of his eyes, but he does put his hair up in a short puffy ponytail for this occasion.

He contributes a plate of pumpkin-flavored macarons to the snack table, and that's where he spends most of the night. He likes food and has a fondness for junk like any teenager, and he's not going to sing. For anyone.

At one point, he goes into the haunted maze, trips on absolutely nothing and ends up knocking over three cardboard walls. Aren't ninjas supposed to be graceful?]

[when she spots him she immediately wanders closer, because it's a little easier to be at a party with someone you vaguely know than by herself. She's dressed up as Joan of Arc, though without the sword.

She doesn't need to eat, but she will try one of his macarons. She's thankful she can at least still taste food - that would suck if she couldn't]

Party

[He's not quite sure who the hosts even are, but one doesn't just turn down a party invitation. Well, ok, that's not true. He'd turned down a whole lot of invitations as the famed champion of Kirkwall but that's mostly because the parties thrown by nobles and dignitaries are intensely boring affairs with lots of standing around, small talk, and tiny portions of food with unpronounceable Orleasian names.

This though, this is a party that's more his speed. The music is fantastic and nothing he's heard before and he's not required to dance stiff-minuets while random nobles' daughters try to cop a feel thinking they're far more sneaky and seductive than they actually are. They're even in costumes, which is the best bit. Adalwolfe has been gifted - through some very attentive sponsor - a ridiculous red dragon onesie that he's entirely enamored of. Because seriously guys.

He's a dragon.

Whatever this Halloween holiday is, it's the literal best.

He feels the need to play the part, too, hiding behind various decorations or under tables and jumping out at other party goers with a robust roar.]

Haunted House

[The haunted house sounded like the best idea ever when Adalwolfe first peered into its depths, but at about halfway through he's way too much in the spirit. Things jumping out at him when he's already a bit on edge? It's cause for may shrieks and sometimes for over six feet of muscled mage to jump in the arms of whatever other mazerunners might be in the vicinity.

Really, he's just getting into the spirit of things. That intensely creepy clown totally didn't actually make him jump ten feet and turn him into a cowering mess for several minutes behind you, holding the fleece tail of his costume anxiously. That is entirely not what happened.

He coughs and clears his throat.]

[dressing up for parties never brings pleasant memories, but it doesn't take too much bullying from other parties to get Tempest to go. Dressed as a shite witch (her words), the brim of her hat hides the black eye, and the lipstick she grudgingly put on hides the split lip, so it's easy enough to pretend she hadn't had an adventure on the waystation and a slaver ship a few days previous.

She doesn't - and shouldn't dance, so she spends most of her time sat at the bar, taking advantage of the alcohol being served. Occasionally she might pick at the food, and it really isn't all that strange to see her pick something up and give it a look like it might bite her first. Some of these candies looked or sounded weird, you can't blame her.

Later on in the night she might make a pass through the haunted house, which will amuse anyone going with her cuz if something manages to startle her, they'll be gifted with a grown woman cursing out a hologram]

[Shirley hasn't heard of Halloween up until a few days ago, but she can get into the spirit and cobble together something cute. So while she doesn't have anything elaborate, she does manage to put together a hat resembling an eggtopus, or...exactly what the name says. And okay, maybe not everywhere has eggtopi but it's not bad for short notice. Maybe it can be a conversation starter?

After checking out some of the food and enjoying the pie, she'll be hovering around the entrance to the haunted maze and debating whether to go in. It's probably not going to be terrifying with the festive atmosphere, but she's hesitant to go it alone right now. And besides, it would be more fun with a partner...]

Well met again, milady. [ Maglor greets her near the maze where he's standing and looking generally a little lost. He's been co-erced into a costume but he's still a bit weirded out but the whole affair ]

[ This time, it's Aoko, dressed up as a cute little pumpkin witch, complete with pointy hat and broomstick. She's a little unsure of herself without a scarf or sleeves to cover herself up with, but it doesn't do that much to dampen her enthusiasm – she's always loved parties, and god knows how long it's been since she last got to attend one. ]

[ You'll find her flitting here, there and everywhere, more than happy to strike up conversations with friends and strangers alike. Over at the bar, she puts together a peanut butter soda float, because why the heck would she not? And she stands for a while outside of the Haunted House, uhming and ahhing and fidgeting with her broom. ]

[Being Sokka, he largely keeps orbiting the food, shovelling whatever he can into his mouth at regular intervals. Even better, he doesn't really fall out of 'character' in his gluttony. Sokka, you see, has decided to treat Halloween (technically his first, seen as the first one on the Fleet was spend in Calibrations) with dressing up as the person who told him about it.

Yeah. He's totally dressed up as Allen.

He's somehow squeezed himself into Allen's clothing, despite being taller and bulkier and...not really fitting them at all. He's put a mophead on the top of his head as 'hair', and painted his face with Allen's distinctive scar. Except it's on the wrong side.

IF anyone comes near, he'll speak in the worst British accent ever. Seriously. It's awful. ]

[ Ordinarily Hawke would have rejected the invitation outright, half on reflex half on pure principle. It was something of an art when it came to her, years of rejecting invitation upon invitation to feasts or balls or whatever else the Kirkwall nobility conjured up just for a chance to get her in their homes for an evening. Normally with the intention of garnering her favor in one way or another, or setting her up with their sons.

In truth she was sorely tempted too, surely she could find something just as interesting to do for the evening. But on a whim she decides instead go, because why not? Free food, that is hopefully more edible than whatever she had been served last time she went to a party, and drinks? She could not deny herself such gifts no matter how hard she tries.

She saunters in not in a ridiculous dragon onesie, unfortunately, rather in purple finery. Her dark hair clipped and tidied, swept off to the side. An Orlesian she would answer if asked, in an obnoxiously faked accent for added effect. Hon, hon, hon, something, something, Fereldens smell of wet dog. Complete with that superior air she is 100% sure all Orlesians expect for Leliana possess.

She wanders a little either with company or on her own, a hand almost always full of pumpkin treats she pilfered. ]

[ All roads lead to the bar eventually, no truer in Hawke's case. At some point in the evening she finds herself there, leaning against the bar in an almost lazy fashion - imagine a lounging cat, lazy but incredibly alert nursing a rather strong drink. ]

Best party I have ever been too this. [ That's saying a lot. ] Even better than the one where I got to watch a pompous Orlesian duke fall off a cliff.

[ That one was memorable not only for Tallis, but the wonderful pun she got the make afterwards. She grins to herself as the memory replays in her mind. ]

Looks like the duke, has fallen from grace.

[Anders didn't exactly try very hard with his outfit. He's decked out in the Gray Warden outfit he'd originally arrived to the fleet in all those months ago and topped the look off with a cat-ear headband that Adawolfe had put on his head before they'd left.

'Now you're an A-paw-state!' Hawke had exclaimed, far too pleased with himself.

He was going to leave the man, he'd already decided, he just needed to find a new date while he was here.

Instead, he found Marian looking somehow both delightful and ridiculous at the same time and her pumpkin treats.]

[True to her perpetually-aggrieved word, Asuka's come bearing some of the extra pumpkin bread she and Shinji made, taking it out of the basket that is part and parcel of her Red Riding Hood costume, setting the platters neatly on the table and sliding a butterknife into the first piece. That mission accomplished, she starts to pace around the table, collecting odds and ends and various odd candies she'd somehow missed out on during their stopovers--]

[Stuff like bark-flavored gummies, lollipops of indeterminable flavor, and large, chewy, downright gelatinous jawbreakers. Weird.]

[Asuka's gotten a soda (and a glass of wine) while she's at it, grimly poking one of the jawbreakers, which jiggles predictably in response.]

They should have drawn an eye on this thing.

[She's spent too much of her life wearing gloves, so those get abandoned by the time she skulks to the edge of the dance floor. She recognizes some of the music, frighteningly, from Mari's enthusiastic but off-key renditions of seventies pop classics, but that doesn't mean she plans on joining in the revelry on her own. Especially once what seems like the last bars of a line dance come to a close, and all the masked and costumed crews start shunting off in pairs, getting ready for a slow dance.]

[She's way too old to get this jittery-- it's not even jitters so much as inadequacy. She's jealous. Most of the people out there are adults. Physical adults. And here she is, still the same as ever. Her twenty-ninth birthday's in less than two months, and she might as well still have splatters of teenage acne all over her nose. Shoving her hair (loose, for once, rather than in pigtails) beneath her hood, she grimaces, turning to the nearest passerby.]

They always have to do that.

[Kaworu sounds a little too eager when he says this. Not... at the prospect of eating an eyeball—well, one might not be faulted for thinking so. But he feels both overzealous and tentative, like he's trying to make a good impression. That's impossible by now, with all she's seen of him, but there it is regardless.

So he, the Huntsman to her Hood, and feeling odd about that, bends to watch closely as her finger prods the jawbreaker (eyeball substitute?).]

[Costumes are trivially easy for Loki to do, and he can change them at will. So you might see him dressed as Captain America, as Hawkeye, as Iron Man, or as Nick Fury, depending on what part of the night you run across him.

For the most part, he's going to be dancing, taking breaks for a drink or two, and then dancing some more. And he'll dancing with anyone, even if you're normally a person he'd like to push off a cliff. He just likes dancing, all right?]

Well, this is embarrassing, showing up to the party in the same outfit. [Not exactly the same. She's dressed as old school Captain America back when he was doing USO shows, but there's still a lot of Americana happening right here in this section of the room right now.

She smiles lightly at Loki, but she's mostly thinking about Rogue shen she sees him. She hadn't talked to the man much and definitely not since Rogue left. It still stings. She really reached out to Kitty when she'd first arrived. Plus...she was Rogue. Maybe not hers, but she still meant something to her.]

Theon Greyjoy | OTA

[ Theon doesn't know what Halloween actually is. Westeros lacks in such a holiday, but anything and everything that may take his mind off of the bigger worries that continue to plague him is worth looking into.

You'll find him wandering and drinking for most of the night. If you want to know what his costume is supposed to be, you may have to ask. Truth be told, he isn't dressed much differently from how he might normally dress. He has one of those fur-trimmed cloaks that the Westerosi in the fleet seem so hesitant to give up, but he's opted to dress completely in black--not a single golden kraken in sight--and he's found an atrocious curly black wig and a fake plastic sword to top it all off. Add in the exaggerated frown he seems to be trying a bit too hard to keep on his face, and he may look just a little bit like someone else you may know.

He thinks it's hilarious. ]

[For Theon, a special trick disguised as a treat: Loki approaches in one of his favored female guises, dressed quite nicely as a princess. It makes for a nice costume.

[Wrath has come to the party with Charles, and they're doing a paired costume--Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. Wrath, perhaps incongruously, is Holmes. Because she looks fucking adorable in a hat, according to her, and it kind of works. The costumes aren't necessarily historically authentic--they had to go with what they could find on the waystations--but Wrath's managed to acquire a deerstalker hat, a pipe, and is wearing something reasonably suit-like.

She's not drinking too hard tonight, since she knows the alcohol here isn't going to be able to defeat her liver. But she's have a hell of a good time dancing (she's coordinated and reasonably graceful, she just doesn't really know how to dance) and she definitely signs up for karaoke. Hopefully the alcohol has flowed well by the time it's her turn. She doesn't know any of the songs, and can't really read very well, so... it's sure a thing that happens. But she makes up for it with sheer enthusiasm.

She tries out the haunted house, but the first time she gets startled, she punches the thing that scared her so... better end that early. More terrible karaoke or hanging out with her friends makes her feel better anyway.]

[ he's giving her a standing ovation after karaoke, it just doesn't seem any different from a regular ovation because he's already standing, but if he were sitting he'd have stood up, ok! there's some whoo!!-ing too, to make sure he brings extra dignity to his flash costume. ]

Jon Snow | OTA

[Jon's actually only here to keep an eye on some of his crewmates. At least, that's his story, and he'll be giving it to everyone who asks, though the effort put into his costume probably tells another story entirely, which is: he actually chose to be here, and this is the best costume he could think of.

And it is remarkably good, for a costume that seems mostly pulled together from spare clothes lying around--Jon already wears black clothes regularly, so it's easy enough to sacrifice a few for Halloween and paint gold krakens on them. There's a toy bow slung across his back, and he'll even smirk a little when someone comes up to ask him who he's wearing. If it looks more like a grimace, well, he's trying his best.]

You don't know who I am? That's a pity, you're all the poorer for it. [He manages to hold the arrogant smirk for a few more moments before he shakes his head and huffs out a more genuine-sounding laugh.]

[ Well, this might be extremely awkward if it didn't already come across as a totally normal thing for them to be doing. Theon might even be impressed by the effort. I mean, Jon Snow mustering a smirk, even in jest? Surely winter has come and the world is ending. ]

[ He says it in a surprisingly good imitation of Jon's voice, all while mocking his deep frown, but he struggles to maintain it, quickly breaking into his own trademark smirk. ]

[With the recent disappearances, Kurt had been in a foul enough mood that he wasn't intending to attend. But certain people decided otherwise, and Kurt lost the argument. The costume he arrives in is either missing half of it, or he intended to look like something out of a bodice ripper; given what he wore at the last Masquerade and the level of confidence he walks around with, probably the latter.

Memories of the last such celebration are why he looks a little wistful at the dance floor, though he's quick to shake it off with a smile when approached or happens to catch someone's eye.

He'll be making frequent trips to the bar throughout the night to bolster his good mood, occasionally nibbling on chips or pumpkin pie to keep the alcohol from settling ill on his stomach.

Karaoke will be astoundingly easy to get him to sign up for. Anyone who does can be treated to a beautiful baritone (albeit slightly rough around the edges) and Kurt's complete ignorance of anything written after the early nineties. But hey, he makes up for it by belting out love ballads like a pro.

Or just run into him anywhere. Yup, this is the wildcard option; Kurt'll be doing his best to mingle and make nice throughout the night.]

Really it was quite scandalous, but that rather made him love it, including the little red shorts hidden just beneath barely there hem of his "uniform". It was nice to have the company of someone else who had either chosen or been bamboozled into a costume of questionable coverage.

a. they don't... have soda after the apocalypse

[So, okay, the header is true: no soda opportunities in the world Kaworu had inhabited. Now he's had chances since joining the Fleet to try various sodas... but he's done it pretty sparingly, mostly because the drinks are kind of startling.

He's startled now, in fact, while he focuses on drinking one of them. His expression must look markedly more ridiculous in conjunction with his costume, which is... okay... okay, maybe it's not easy to tell what he is, without the rest of his group. He came with a Red Riding Hood and a Wolf, so naturally, Kaworu must be... the Huntsman? That must be it, since he's wearing boots, too-big overalls, and a floppy hat. (The hat is yellow and doesn't really go with the outfit, but he was insistent on adding it to the ensemble.) However, depriving himself of Huntsman fanfare, Kaworu has refused to carry any sort of tool which might indicate his character. No fake axes or anything. He just kind of looks like a lumber jack or something.

And he's squeezing his eyes shut and wrinkling his nose, shoulders raised and fingers crooking, while he holds a mouthful of bubbly soda. It still feels so strange.]

b. the boogie.......man

[It's wonderful to experience so much new music. There's been no song thus far which Kaworu hasn't seemed positively delighted with. He rolls his checkered sleeves up past his elbows, and makes a dreamy face, even though what's playing right now is some really intense synth pop. Between his soft expression and his eager posture, it's up in the air whether he's going to bust a move or fall asleep standing up.]

c. too bad his canon never elaborates on whatever the heck metaphysical biology is supposed to be

[Having never had any cultural exposure to the idea of haunted houses, Kaworu only knows what he's overheard from people at the party. "Hauntings", at least, kind of make sense to him? But only to a point. He actually seems somewhat concerned as he approaches the setup. But it's not that he's afraid of ghosts or anything like that; instead, it's...]

You don't suppose the souls mind this very much, do you? [he asks whoever's close.]

[This is stupid. Really stupid. Shinji doesn't know why he agreed to do this--but it's really stupid, and he's just wasting his time, and he definitely isn't on the verge of throwing up. There's nothing remotely scary about these half-baked animatronics or holograms or whatever. That scary clown? What a joke. Even the tattered witch from the last room was better than the clown. The inhabitants of this haunted house are nothing like the monsters Shinji had to face in battle. The haunted house itself is nothing like the battlefield he had to fight them on.]

What the fu--

[Yet the adrenaline in his veins is exactly the same. As he veers away from the shrieking ghost, the one that appeared out of nowhere, he's starting to look a bit ghostly himself. The loud noises are making this more difficult to deal with. Being surprised at the flank, or the rear, brings up the bile of never knowing which side the enemy is coming from until it's too late.

And being here with Kaworu-kun just adds a layer of humiliation to it all. Wheezing, he says,]

It's like they're trying to give people a heart attack...!

[He pushes up his lupine mask so he can rub at his eyes. Even though he's the Big Bad Wolf, he's failing at the whole fearless predator part of it. This is so stupid.]
