[Victor actually recognizes this place. He's only seen it as a hologram, but he still knows it. He goes to the window first to look out over the planets and stars. After a moment of staring out, he puts on his lenses so he can more easily see the different colors.

He just walks the space, trying to remember where his James told him the crew members were stationed. Sulu, Chekov, Spock, Uhura, and of course Kirk at the captain's chair]

So which one would be me, the science or the medicine? [More to himself than anything, but he still tries to figure out what the science station even does]

Technically, you would be in the med bay.

_{[ Kirk came out from where the holo-table was, smiling at Victor and making his way over. There was no rush. Time, if it existed here, didn't really have much meaning, did it? They would have as much time as they needed. He stepped up beside Victor and reaching out, tapping the console and bringing it to life, a display of information glowing, promising all you could possibly want to know about the planet hovering in the viewing window. ]}

But if we're taking the med part out of it, you'd be here. But I wouldn't want to do that. It would make you far less interesting.

[jolting]

[He turns at Jim's voice, giving the man a smile. It's an affectionate one, if maybe not with the same type of glow that James would bring out]

I'm less interesting as a science officer? I'm a little insulted.

I just meant that being in the medical field is part of you. Part of your shine. Almost makes me cry to think any part of you might be dulled.

[jolting]

I wouldn't worry too much about that. I'm always going to be both a scientist and a medical doctor.

[He brushes his fingers along the panels thoughtfully] I like that, about shining. It describes you too, you know.

<sub>[ At Victor's touch, the console came to life, the whole area dimming, people appearing in the seats as if they had been there along, perhaps even a little bit static at times, like a video being played back. Where Victor stood was the figure out a tall humanoid with gently curved and pointed ears and a serious cut.

The man began to speak as details flashed across the console's screen, more appearing on the view port at the head of the bridge. Tension rose in the air, information being thrown back and forth as the ominous, dark cloud grew closer. Kirk stood in his chair, shoulders setting back, normally cheerful eyes sharp and serious as he barked orders. He didn't sound frantic, but it was clear that he and all of the bridge crew could tell that whatever this was, it wasn't good - eyes trained on consoles and screens, Kirk's glue to the approaching horde.

The memory faded as the bridge shook with the first impacts, the lights coming back and the Kirk of the Drift Fleet standing beside Victor once more. ]</sub>

Well, that was unexpected.

[jolting]

[He watches the memory, fascinated. He's been told many times about the Enterprise's missions, but it's different when you're seeing it. Victor is still as he watches Jim take command.

He's disappointed when the memory fades]

That was cool.

_{[ His lips thinned for just a moment at that, watching the screen as if expecting the horde to come back. ]}

It was less cool at the time. Those things tore the entire ship apart - destroyed her completely.

[jolting]

Oh. [Hello, foot. Welcome to mouth] I didn't know that. James didn't tell me.

It's not really a memory I like talking about much. I doubt he's much different in that regard.

In the abstract, it was fascinating - the hive control. I'm sure Federation scientists had a field day with the data we provided after the fact.

_{[ He said it all matter of factly. There wasn't much emotion attached, when it and of itself was a bad sign when it came to Kirk. He reached out, brushing his fingers over the station. ]}

Mostly the memory just makes me sad. Because Krall, the one controlling the horde, he used to be one of us. Used to be a Fleet captain. But he and his got lost, and he never found his way back, thinking he had been abandoned. I felt lost too, when I met him. He helped me find my path again, and I'm grateful to him for that.

[jolting]

[Don't think he doesn't notice that emotionless explanation, Jim. But he says nothing, letting the other tell his story all the way through before responding]

I was lost, too, before I met James. Just another thing that helped connect us. [He reaches out to put a hand on Jim's shoulder] I'm really glad you found your way again. I don't like seeing you-- either of you-- sad.

_{[ He smiled and patted Victor's hand. ]}

Thank you, really. It's been awhile now, so it's... removed. The funny part is, you know, I don't really hate or anything for what he did. I'm just sorry that the Federation didn't have the power to save him in time.

[jolting]

[He’s silent for a moment, thinking. He squeezes Jim’s shoulder before letting go]

Thank you for sharing those memories. You’re welcome to any of mine, you know.

_{[ He didn't really have a choice on which memories he shared and not. He had learned to just... accept them, and what they exposed about him. ]}

Heh, thanks. I might come and take a poke around. But... whatever you might see here, of the past Jim and I share - let him tell you in his own time, yeah? I don't know what he wants to share with you, after all, or how he feels about any of it.

[jolting]

I think he’s told me most things. It’s a little different to see them, though. And I think I want us to be together for some of them.

What about memories that are just yours?

[universal_charm]

Yes, I think you should be.

_{[ He titled his head. ]}

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure which are just mine. I know he and I share major memories, or I'm fairly sure from what we've discussed, but I'm not sure about the minutea of our lives. Certainly he won't have shared any that were from here, in the Fleet, at least.

[jolting]

That's what I mean: you've been here for years. Surely you have a few good memories by now.

[universal_charm]

Oh, I have plenty. The overall circumstances are unpleasant, but that doesn't mean all of my time here has been.

[jolting]

So if you think about it, what's the first good memory that comes to mind about the Fleet?

[universal_charm]

_{[ He pursed his lips and thought. ]}

We were at a planet not to long ago that I enjoyed - I was minor celebrity, sort of, for participating in motorcycle racing. But then the entire planetary system was like that - teams and colors and sports. It was all one big competition.

[jolting]

Hm. I'm not really into sports, but I would've liked seeing you and James race each other.

[universal_charm]

_{[ He laughed. ]}

You know? I think I would like that too. And it was nice to get to ride a bike again.

[jolting]

Maybe you'll get a chance to race against each other on the next planet. I admit I'm curious to see which of you would win.

[universal_charm]

I think no matter the outcome, my other self would win with you no matter what, yeah?

_{[ He waggled his brows. ]}

That's true. But I'd still like to watch you race.
