( for A-M characters )
Before you post your toplevel comment, please:
1. Check the first letter of your character's name as its written in our tags. A-M names comment here, and N-Z names go to the other post.
2. Make a note in your comment if anything especially triggering or graphic might show up in the Calibration. If you're not sure if something's worth noting or not, we suggest listing it anyway, just to err on the side of caution.
3. Put your character's name (it can be shortened or different from the tag, this time) in the subject of your comment. This will help visitors find you easily, and help us update the list below.
4. Post your comment! It's fine if everyone's Calibrations end up looking and reading very different from one another. As long as you're having fun and following our guidelines, you're good to go. :)
5. If you have any questions or concerns during Calibrations, you are welcome to send them towards the mod team at any time, as always.

Eventually she makes her way to the observatory proper, exploring the place carefully, like a museum to be examined. She doesn't notice Loki at first; her eyes are drawn initially to the hammer, reading the runes, and her fingers itch to try but she opts not to, not just yet. She's not feeling especially worthy today. Curiosity draws her instead towards the pedestal carrying the Tesseract, because hell yeah, big glowing magic item? Of course she wants to poke at it.
On the way, however, she brushes past the center pedestal, her hand gliding instinctively over the fabric of the red cape.]

With a smooth, practiced motion, as if it were her beloved old red robe, she draws the cloak away from where it hangs and drapes it over her shoulders.]

and the watering in your eyes? it's only the light.
"Loki"
The name jerks you out of the scene like a snap of a rubberband. ]

[The most elegant of exclamations as Lup practically rips off the cloak, depositing it on the floor in a heap. That's... weird. Super weird. She hasn't seen a crowd celebrating her existence since the godsdamned first voyage of the Starblaster, and even then it hadn't been like that. This celebration was too... singular. Too focused on her. Or him, whatever.
She liked being the center of attention just fine, but something about that felt wrong. She's not a fan of that feeling.
Rubbing her shoulders, as if that could wipe how it had felt away, she turns back towards her original target, and that's when she spots Loki. Rather than going for the Tesseract, this time she heads for him instead, eyeing him up and down before following his gaze.]
What's so interesting down there?
no subject
There is nothing down there. That is what makes it interesting.
no subject
That's morbid.
[He's not... wrong, exactly, though. There's something eerily fascinating about it, and even if she doesn't like how it feels she can't help but return her gaze to it, trying to follow the immeasurable patterns of the emptiness that reaches out from below. It's fuckin' eerie is what it is.
Against her better judgement she sits down on the bridge and dangles her legs over the edge to see if anything changes. She trusts herself to be able to get away if it's unsafe.]
no subject
loki watches her, impassive. ]
It is the Void. It calls for the end of all things.
no subject
Hastily she jerks her legs back up to surface-level, hugging them against her chest with one arm as she reaches out with the other, grabbing Loki's pant leg and tugging it.]
Oooookay, how's about we go stand somewhere else for a while? I think we've had enough gloom and doom for one day. [More quietly, under her breath,] Holy shit.
no subject
If you want. Where would you like to go?
no subject
[She lets go just long enough to push herself back to her feet, loping an arm through his and using it as leverage to try and drag him away from the edge and back towards the main building. All that interesting stuff in there is way better than the nightmare fuel of that shit.]
So, like. Not to be rude or anything, but what happened to your face?
no subject
This is what I look like.
no subject
[She scrutinizes him for a long moment, skeptical but studying, then reaches up with her free hand to poke at one of the blue marks. A light tap only, just to see what happens. For... science!]
no subject
What was that for?
no subject
She doesn't let her touch linger, though, snapping her fingers a few times to chase the numb feeling away. Weird. Like something's crawling out of him.]
Just... checking.
[She keeps ahold of him and continues coaxing him forward, away from that miserable edge, then points towards the center.]
So what's that thing? The big glowy dice? From a distance I thought it was your funky icebox but that's not it.
no subject
That is the Tesseract. A gem of infinite power over space. Only certain individuals can touch this and it leaves a mark.
no subject
So what counts as "certain individuals"? Is it like your casket?
no subject
It is and it isn't. The Casket can only be handled by Frost Giants. The Stones can be handled by individuals with great power. They're too dangerous to be held by one person.
no subject
[Easiest way to know is to ask, after all.]
no subject
[ his eyes trail towards it. ]
That is not the real thing. That is simply pain.
no subject
Your pain?
[Her voice is quiet.]
no subject
For a long time, my pain was ignored. Dismissed. So I keep it in the light. And I hide what is truly important.
no subject
If that's Thor's, then maybe some sibling rivalry involved not being Mom and Dad's favourite. Hmm.
She considers these things thoughtfully for a moment, then withdraws her arm from his, offering her hand out, instead.]
Show me, then. I won't ignore it. What is it you wish people would acknowledge?
no subject
Do you think I'm worthy?
no subject
[She glances back at the hammer, her gaze casting over the text. It's meaningless to her, some sort of boast or enchantment or maybe just a legend. It's obvious that it means something to him, then.
Finally she shrugs.]
I don't know. Worthy of what, picking up a hammer? Just because it's meant for somebody else? Who's the one judging if you're worthy or not, what the hell does a hammer know about that kind of thing?
