[ if left to his own devices, stiles will spend a majority of his time at the masquerade in one of two places:

one could either spot him hovering around the food, where he will be casually stuffing himself with whatever catches his eye and looks delicious. he's people watching, too - dressed in a simple suit and white half-mask, it's clear that his outfit was a last-minute consideration. that mostly just means he's pretty awed by the extravagance of what a lot of others are wearing. don't mind the way he's gawking while he feeds himself some weird puffy cream cheese snack.

otherwise, and more towards later in the evening, he'll probably be out dancing. poorly. very poorly, just because that's what happens when you let a teenager unsupervised into a party with an open bar. that wine, though? a+. he's probably still holding a glass of it as he dances, as a matter of fact. ]

[ jade would probably have to go to greater lengths than a masquerade mask and fancy blue dress to actually hide her identity, considering the fluffy white dog ears poking up through her black hair, but it doesn't seem like she's made a sincere effort. instead, she's kind of just enjoying the atmosphere - and occasionally knocking into things, because her eyeglasses have been put aside for a little while in favor of the mask.

Anyway, since Davesprite had to have a mask to get in, he does have one on his person. Not on his face, because he's wearing his sunglasses instead, but it's just hanging there around his neck or something. He didn't think this through.]

Food's ok. Dunno what the fuck I'm drinking, though. [He's just kind of suspiciously staring into his glass of...something. He only made sure there wasn't anything alive in it, ok.]

[ this is definitely fancier than anything adstring could ever afford them, and a heck of a lot more complicated than any setup she'd seen even in the earth kingdom. for a while, katara is caught between awestruck and really, sharply missing aang while she visits around the party.

one could catch her near the food, making a face and glancing sidelong at your character to ask what, exactly, that slimy yellow dish is, or possibly investigating a deck of cards in the game room, offering to play with whoever passes by.

otherwise, she won't actually be caught on the dance floor. standing along the wall and watching, for sure, but actually dancing without aang? it felt wrong. ]

[Originally, Kirito hadn't felt much interest in the masquerade- the prospect of eating actual food, and the intrigue of seeing people in costumes had pinged him, maybe, but the dance itself wasn't a draw. Literally the only reason he's here now, in the GGO avatar and clad in a very simple black dress to boot, is because he lost a bet. One he'd expected to win, as a matter of fact. He's definitely sulking. The plain black mask he'd found for himself - he'd spent as little funds as he possibly could on the entire ensemble - can't hide that fact.

Thank god, thank god Asuna isn't here right now. The one and only time he'll think those words to himself as he tries his best to go unnoticed over the course of the dance, wallflowering in a corner.]

[The ballroom is grand, and Arthur finds himself enjoying the music, occasionally asking women to dance. He wouldn't mind dancing with men, but he would struggle not leading. He's a great dancer, the result of a lot of lessons. (See original comment for outfit if you can.)

He walks up to someone with a smile, dimples showing.] Mind if I steal a dance?

[He stops at the snack table, and after all that dancing, he's starving. It's almost embarrassing how many little cheeses and crackers he has. He chews on them slowly as he stands off to the side, admiring the dancers and the entire event (but also making notes in his head, because what's not being observant).]

[Nami has barely ventured out on the moon at all; between the toxic air and the frustrating knowledge she could probably help at least temporarily if she had the damn climatact-- oh, and that pesky two week coma and all-- she's more played the waiting game and stayed on ship and spent a lot of quality time on the Iskaulit instead.

But this is a party. And she'd never turn down a party.

She arrives in a flowing, dark dress with lace trim and a glittering purple and gold mask, sweeping immediately across the floor toward the wine and then mingling with the guests, glass in hand, and divides her time between catching up with people she knows and flirting lightly with the locals. If she chooses ones that seem wealthier than others, that's purely coincidence. Shh.

It's pretty obvious it's Nami despite the mask. That orange hair is a little hard to miss.]

MUSEUM:

[It's sad that such beautiful plant life has to be considered a museum, but that doesn't make it any less soothing. When she tires of the party and wants to take a break where it's quieter, she can be found here, mask perched on the crown of her hair so she can get a better look at the leaves and flowers, taking note of how they're maintained.

This moon must have been so gorgeous once.]

[The spin is a little unexpected but in a fun kind of way. She's already grinning a little as he pulls her back against him, following his lead with grace.] You've been to these kinds of things before, I see.

[ Fortunately for Alistair, Riona is here to give him fashion advice, because half the time he can barely get his shirt on the right way, let alone know how to dress for a fancy party. And he's used to people telling him what to do. So when told to wear a rather evocative mask, who was he to argue? It seems fitting enough.

He spends some time in the ballroom, wondering if he shouldn't approach some of his female friends and ask them to dance, or if perhaps it would be better to just leave it, since he can't really dance anyway, so stepping on their toes for ten minutes probably wouldn't do them any favors.

But before long, he's moving on to the snacks, naturally. He's twenty years old, and a Grey Warden. He's basically a bottomless pit of consuming calories, so he'll sample just about everything laid out, because why not? It can't be any more toxic than Varric's wine scheme. Right? ]

Uh, not... really? I mean, there was a big celebration after the Battle of Denerim, and then we had one for the coronation. But those were pretty special occasions.

[She shouldn't be overwhelmed, but a part of her is. Celebrations have been so few and far between with an Earth in ruins. The Wunder was a ghost ship with a crew full of bitter has-beens. The last time WILLE held a sincere party was at least four years before. Maybe more.]

[The last time she enjoyed a party was longer ago than that.]

[Dressed in a delicately-patterned pink yukata, she actually feels a bit like a princess, which is ridiculous, but hard to shake off, too. She hadn't known what to say when Shinji first showed her the finished project, just stared and rushed off to try it on, a blunder she's still embarrassed over. Her accessories are minimal: some white flowers attached to her pigtails and a few more pinned to one edge of her eyepatch. There's no need in bothering with any more of a real mask than what she wears already. As she walks around, her expression's slightly softer than usual, some of the bitterness eroding from her face.]

[Asuka learned to dance half her life ago. Admittedly, she hasn't practiced the skill since, and didn't get very far past the intermediate stage, but her taped-up ego won't allow her to stay tucked away in her chair or standing at one of the edges of the ballroom for long.]

[Her common sense, though, wins out before she can ask anyone to dance with her, and so she settles for slinking in towards the end of a line dance, gathering up her courage for the next one. It's too bad line dances have a higher rate of collision than partnered dances. And it's also too bad that she's bumped into from behind, coming close to falling flat on her stomach, barely able to keep her feet under her. As soon as her balance recovers, she turns.]

[Asuka manages to acquire one alcoholic drink-- probably by less than savory means. It's not remotely enough to get her drunk, but it's pleasant on her tongue and gets her just slightly more relaxed.]

[The bite-sized pieces of cheese attracts her attention more than the other food. She pokes a toothpick square in the middle of one, raises it and twirls it absentmindedly.] How many credits do you think they spent on this party?

Anyone looking away from her usually gets her to stare at them in retaliation, but right now, she doesn't really want him gazing her way at all. What she's about to ask him is probably something he has no idea about, anyway. Probably something he can't help her with. It's stupid to try. Stupid to show weakness in front of him, even if he's the only one who stands half a chance of knowing why her body, as usual, insists on acting up.]

It's my eye. It's been bothering me a lot lately. [More accurately, it's been glowing a lot more lately. He witnessed it, even, that time they fought in Shinji's post.] Ever since I got here.

[This blue teen comes dressed in an unusually fancy-looking tux. Where could he have gotten it? The truth is, he didn't. His fancy clothes are just a projection from the image inducer worn on his wrist; really, he's wearing the laziest of clothes underneath, and a plain long-sleeved shirt and a pair of sweatpants (with boxers sticking out). No one would be able to tell just at a glance - well except that as the evening wears on, the hologram may flicker off and one again for an instant, as the image inducer is a fickle thing.

Oh and he's also wearing a cheesy Phantom of the Opera-esque mask.]

[Ballroom]

[Kurt's had a lot to deal with recently, including the sudden arrival of the mass of complications that is his mom, as well as meeting a variety of people he knows from home, but all from different time periods or universes entirely, including another version of himself. So, he's ready to just have an evening of simple, pure fun.

He bursts into the ballroom with a dramatic flair as he arrives, and tries to catch as many people's attention as he can.]

Guten tag, everybody! I'm here, so now let the party really begin!

[Kurt will soon be ripping up the dance floor with his killer dance moves. He did come with Octavia as a friend, but he'll be looking to fill up his dance card. So you may find this fuzzy blue guy suddenly teleporting over near you (said teleportation accompanied by a cloud of smoke, a 'bamf!' sound, and the smell of brimstone), ready to ask for a dance, or maybe just to socialize a little.]

[Snack Table]

[Kurt's second home is at the snack table. Sick of the proteins served in space, he treasures any opportunity to gorge himself on real snack. He's focusing on the cheese snacks, gathering a massive amount of them and trying to put together what looks like a small town with the cheeses as building blocks. (He would have gone for a tower, but A Goofy Movie already beat him to that pun).

When he sees someone nearby, he looks up with a bright smile.]

[At first, Wanda is very stiff, definitely not relaxed at all. She's nervous, looking around at the other dancers, trying to determine if any of the faces in the crowd are looking and jeering at the incompetent girl on the dance floor. However, after a few moments, she realizes that the two of them seem to be moving rather well. She visibly untenses, and her movements become more flowing and relaxed. She is happy to let Vision lead, as his movements become more confident. She, in turn, begins to feel more confident herself, and she begins to smile broadly. Happier in this moment than she has been in a long time. Here she was, in a formal dress, at a ball on an alien planet, dancing like an actual competent partner. There is practically no stepping on toes, least not after the first two times, and she begins to fall completely in rhythm with the music.]

[By the time the song is over they're both moving smoothly, confidently - he's even smiling under that half-mask. When the song ends he brings her hands together in his and squeezes them lightly.]

[It should surprise absolutely no one who knows him that Finrod arrives appropriately attired for the occasion, with a very noticeable piece of jewelry around his neck. He moves about the room with a natural grace, stopping here and there to initiate a pleasant conversation with a friend, even asking for a dance or two. For all that is alien about this moon, this is a familiar element and one that he actually enjoys.]

Green Museum

[And when he's not out in the midst of the party, you are most likely to find Finrod in the Green Museum, either simply sitting and absorbing the sight or quietly wandering paths, possibly singing softly to himself while he does so.]
