the white noise is deafening silence
[In the very early hours of January 20th, as the Marsiva and her captives drift nonchalantly through the depths of the universe, there is a call. Every single personal communicator and console springs to life, spitting out a stream of indecipherable static and showing only gray snow on screen. It continues like this for a few seconds longer, going black and then going staticky, and then the signal switches to the encrypted channel generally used for speaking to the Interceptors when something big goes down.
This is a little more successful. The voice may be familiar to some, at least through the static.]
Zhade here! I trust I ███ your attention? I'm having some ██▓▓ble ██tting through. Some of the ░▓██▓█ are missing. I can't ░▓▓▓ read on their loc█████ns. [A particularly long burst of static.] ███stening. I'll s█▓▓█ more inf██▓▓▓▓▓█ I get it.
Stay sharp! [There's the sound of someone actually doing the fingerguns wink noise, and then static.
Any messages sent back won't get through, and Zhade isn't there to answer.]
[ A blip of lost time passes right after those words, before every passenger mysteriously wakes alone in their own unfamiliar room. The style of decor resembles that of the Marsiva's Hospitality Deck, if any passengers should remember what that's like. It sounds and smells the same as the host ship as well, all clean and chrome.
Welcome back to the Marsiva, dear passengers. It's time for round three of calibrations. ]

Taako | The Adventure Zone
[The mood on the Marsiva can be summed up quite neatly in two little words: total shit.
And because of that, Taako has decided to do himself and everyone else on this ship some good and find some entertainment. It isn't hard to do - they do have actual entertainment systems set up for this exact reason. The Atroma probably didn't mean for it to be abused like this, but, well? They put Taako on a ship with the ability to find any music available and an surround sound system that could blast the entire living area if he so chose.
And he deeeeefinitely so chose.
So one day, people will begin to hear What's New Pussycat start to play. Is it just once? Twice? No wait, that's definitely three times, right? Is it...four? Or two? How long is this song? Seriously, how long is this song?
Why is it still going?
How many times has this been put into the system?
The song just keeps going on endless repeat and if anyone gets the idea of going up to stop it? They'll find Otiluke's Resilient Sphere blocking their way to the control panel. No amount of punching or attacking will do anything to damage the sphere and nothing can reach the control panel or the song that still continually blares loud and proud over the loudspeakers.
And somewhere in the room is Taako, smirking like the pussycat in the song as he watches people slowly lose their minds.]
But So is Food
[And when he isn't being a total jackass to everyone, he's in the kitchen. Taako finds the lack of real ingredients here a real affront to his senses, but he's making due because he's a transmutation wizard and he will die a cold, cold death in a hot hot hell before he ever resorts to eating the provided food gel.
Taako has several bowls of them out though, and as he goes over the recipe he wants in his head, he touches the bowls. The gel inside reforms into actual food and he sighs. Not as good as the real thing, but good enough. Better than actually eating the gels and how else is he going to find farm fresh eggs in freaking space?
The moment he sees anyone within venting range, he lets out a loud sigh and complains.]
I still cannot believe these idiots expect us to subsist on paste. Only kindergartners do that.

[Hell yes food was necessary. It was bad enough the big guy had been ripped from his ship, his ship, and shoved here for reasons he didn't really understand, but the idea of being trapped here for however long this was going to take, with no drink and no food to speak over other than that weird crap they provided?
...well, Taako was taking care of that, wasn't he? Even if he was doing weird magic crap to it.]
That's a neat trick.

Natasha Romanoff | MCU | OTA
For the most part, Natasha keeps to herself during calibrations; she stays in her room as much as she can stand, and when she does venture out into the common areas, she spends the better part of her time finding private corners. Reading stirs up bittersweet memories of her last round, mostly spent with James while he read her books that she refused to read for herself.
Despite her general antisocial behavior, though, she does keep an eye open for her friends, her teammates, to check in if they seem to be having a rough time with it. Just a glance, a few words to make sure they're hanging in, that it's not too bad.
But oh, oh, does she hate it.]
no subject
Still, the idea that the setting is designed to force social interactions does not sit well with someone who believes — strongly so! — that he is ill-suited for it. With the forcing of sleep cycles he cannot even retreat into the solitude of a nighttime workout and the frustration has him on edge. At least there are books, ones he brings back to his room to read in solitude, returning them to the common area the next day. It's on such a foray to return a book that he runs into Natasha, tucked up in what passes for privacy in one of the reading nooks.]
Didn't mean to disturb you. [He'll just leave the book and retreat from her space; it's for the best.]

loki (mcu) | ota
[ people were popping in and out of his head and even though loki has no idea what memories they were picking apart, he had enough of a sense to realize He Did Not Like It. so he strides into the living room and squints at the video titles. none of them make much sense to him, but that doesn't matter. with a flick of his fingers, they all rise out of their positions and he turns on his heel, heading back to his room, the dvds/various paraphernalia following him. good luck to anyone who needed their fix of "Love Actually". or you can try stopping him.
if you approach his room, his door is closed, but you can hear the loud noises of a movie being played. and if you open the door, loki is curled up on his bed, knees locked together as he's riveted to his screen. ]
no subject
It leaves him pacing the hallways sometimes. On this occasion when he passes by Loki's room, he can hear - something. Some kind of media. Thor slows to a halt and stares at the door for a few minutes. He knows it's Loki's room, having seen him emerge from there before, but he hasn't really spoken to his brother much since this begun a couple of days ago. And definitely not since last night ...
Rather than knocking, Thor just shoves his hand on the touch panel to open it and steps inside.]
What are you -- [He pauses, squinting at the strange dog-creature on the screen] ... doing.

If only someone hadn't stolen all the DVDs.
Annoyed and distracted, Steve walks down the hall, trying to think of something else to do. Maybe beat up another five punching bags. But before he commits to it, Steve passes a room that he can hear movie noises coming out of.
He stops, listening for a second, and then finally decides to lift his hand to knock (or bang) on the door.
"Hey," he calls in. "Do you have some extra movies in there? Everyone else cleaned out the whole collection."

And so, distractions here were more preferable. That and -- that oddly persistent consideration that she should perhaps, check up on others. Better than being alone or--worse, the whims of what the greater common area would yield. Considering everything, Loki was one of those who fit into this category, and so here she was, knocking at the door.
Although from the sounds within, it seemed evident what had become of the entire movie collection. Even better.]

Makie | Blade of the Immortal | OTA
...for another, she recognises this transferral for what it is, and she has so much more baggage than her last time here. Enough to turn people that like her against her, perhaps.
For both these reasons, she keeps to herself and barely leaves her room, opting instead to rest. (And cough. And rest. And--) She does need to eat, though, despite her lack of appetite, and tea is a godsend, so she creeps into the kitchen area, trying to time it for times when the kitchen is empty.
She doesn't want to run into anyone.
Naturally, coincidental kitchen visits are encouraged. Don't mind the sickly-looking lady, she's shuffling like a hag and making herself some tea. Or you can come visit her in her room, either deliberately or to tell her to stop all that coughing. Take your pick.]

On the plus side: all that entertainment. Seriously, all those shows and movies, able to share with others stuff he knew from his world for them to see? It was great. Though movie time and such needed snacks, as much as he disliked going back to the basics the Fleet provided him. They really needed to up their food game.
Heading his own way into the kitchen, he cast a glance around for anyone who may be in there, smiling a little at a familiar face.] Hi Makie, good to see ya 'bout. [Since he hadn't seen much of her since all of their arrival on the ship.]

Thor | MCU
[This is the worst. It's something Thor thought on his first day on the Marsiva, and he's continued to think it ever since. Bad enough that he's already struggling with recent events from home, without being zapped onto the one ship he most wants to break into only to find his mind's becoming an open house in his sleep. It's intensely frustrating.
So he finds ways to vent that frustration. The living space briefly becomes a hazardous place to be whenever Thor swings by and looks for a book to read. He does this by pulling a book out, looking at the title, then tossing the thing over his shoulder if it doesn't look suitable. He does this a lot, without giving much of a damn about leaving them all over the floor when he's done. They all reset at the end of the day.
Don't get hit by a flying book.]
b. raise a little hell
[It's when Thor is feeling slightly more productive that things get more actively dangerous. Because if he's going to be stuck on the Marsiva? He's going back to his time-honoured tradition of trying to break his way through it.
He grabs one of the kitchen tables in the morning, snapping off the legs and using it as a battering ram against the wall. The weights in the gym come next, taken up and thrown at the walls in increasingly loud bangs. He drags his own bed out of his room at one point and takes to slamming it against one of the unopen doors in the corridor, intense concentration on his face.
Once or twice he even resorts to just punching the damn walls, drawing back and slamming them with as much lightning force as he can muster. Those times are obvious - a loud boom of thunder always echoes down the corridor when he tries it.
Followed by a slightly quieter shout of:] Oh fuck you!
c. hot tub
[The Atroma, for whatever reason, saw fit to leave Thor with his board shorts as one of his items of clothing. It means he's often roaming the place in board shorts, sandals and a silver-and-black sports jersey, none of which match. It should be terrible but Thor clearly doesn't care and makes it work.
It also means that when he gives up on being 'productive', he can sometimes be found sitting in the active hot tub, reading a copy of Homer's Odyssey with the jets going. Even the very annoyed need to take a break sometimes.
It's less relaxing when the lights flicker and go off, causing Thor to look up with a disgruntled noise.]
I'm trying to read here.

Alfred Pennyworth | Gotham City
[Being new to the whole situation, he found the whole event jarring. This was nothing to what he was used to experiencing back at home. But it seemed that this place knows no boundaries. Quite frankly, Alfred wasn't sure what to expect anymore. He handled it the best way he could. He simply took everything in his stride. Most of it was spent observing and stepping in when he felt it was necessary.
This meant that Alfred kept to his usual tasks spending most of his time in the kitchen. In his spare time he can be found in his room or in the common area reading or exploring his data pad some more trying to get more familiar with it.]
Wildcard
[Feel free to come up with another scenario you wish to have Alfred involved in.]
kitchen
Kirk strode into the kitchen like there was nothing amiss, like this was all perfectly normal. For him, it was, in a way. Three years of this, and your sense of outrage slowly grew blunted. Or maybe your mind just began protecting you, because to think to hard on it would be to break entirely.
He took a loud sniff of the air, wishing he had Biffy or Lyall's particular talents when it came to smell.

Lup | The Adventure Zone
[The first few nights, Lup has a project. As the time winds down, she can be found in the main area collecting a pile of blankets, cushions, and pillows from various sources, creating something of a nest near where the timer is counting down. In her nest there is some sort of music or video device playing a loud and attention-drawing form of entertainment: heavy metal songs, an action movie, something definitely not built for a good night's sleep. When the lights are dim she summons a set of magic floating lights to illuminate her blanket tent from within. Anyone she happens to see pass by is waved down.]
Hold up, bud! Wanna join an unslumber party?
[Staying up past the timer won't work, of course, but that won't stop her from trying multiple times. She is nothing if not stubborn. Let's have some fun in the meantime!]
( b: it's really hard not to become an alcoholic in this place )
[On one particular morning about halfway through calibrations, Lup wakes up with a start and rockets to Taako's room immediately, slamming loudly on his door. She has to know. She has to confirm, before anything else happens, what he remembers.
And of course when she gets the answer, she then vanishes for a few hours, after which she can be found in the kitchen, cooking up a storm- probably enough for some ridiculously huge feast, the dishes made fancier than what the ingredients might allow thanks to her magic, and most dishes heavily feature the shitty alcohol the Atroma supplied. She is also taking a swig of the bottle periodically, because tipsy cooking is an awesome way to cope, right?
Whether it's someone she knows or even just strangers who catch her eye, if they happen to come through, they will be waved down.]
Hey! Come taste-test this for me! [And she lifts the bottle. ...and then rethinks it and holds up a dish of fancy food instead. However it might look, thankfully it tastes amazing! Lup, on the other hand... does not look amazing, despite the big fake smile plastered on her lips. She actually looks pretty bad- red under her eyes, more pale than usual, her movements a bit twitchy. The air of the kitchen feels almost electrified, like there's a static humidity threatening to zap anyone who lingers too long.
She also, when no one is around, sends a text to Kravitz:]
Kravitz? Go check on Taako if you haven't already.
When you're done, come to the kitchen. Need a favour.
( c: a kingdom of isolation blah blah blah )
[So that coping method doesn't work, turns out! As a result, a good chunk of time into the calibrations, Lup is nowhere to be found in any of the common areas, not for food or entertainment or bathing or anything, for days. A sign can suddenly be found hanging over the nameplate on Lup's room that reads: "Caught the plague! Super gross and contagious, do not enter!" Knocking will result in a pause, and then her voice, sounding more annoyed than ill-]
Uhhh, hi? What's up? Read the sign!
[Attempts to open the door despite her warnings will be met with resistance, but it isn't locked so it does open after a second attempt. The room is dark within, but those perceptive enough might notice an arcane glimmer in the air. When the room's light is turned on that glimmer is gone, revealing… a normal room, with Lup curled up on the bed under a pile of blankets looking sniffly and miserable and even more annoyed now as she looks up at whoever is invading.]
Hey, sooooo, what the fuck?
[For some, this seems normal enough. But those who can spot illusions might recognize that Lup is not… actually Lup. Those who can see through illusions will find a very different scene, but it would take some powerful magic to know it for exactly what it is.]
